Has anyone visited a cat cafe?

There is one local to me where you pay admission to cuddle with cats and can also adopt one. I've never been to it yet, but planning on it in the coming days to check it out, but I don't plan on taking home another cat. (my cat will probably get jealous and angry at me)

    Yes, I have in Charleston SC. It’s a great idea. They need one for dogs !!!

    The one I went to served beer and wine so we drank wine and pet cats for an hour. I’m a dog person and still had a blast. Such a better life for these cats than a normal shelter.

    Thers one about an hour south of me.. I don't think I can handle going there without grabbing one. And I already have 5. I'm addicted to these selfish creatures

    I went to this one in Seoul, Korea. Please excuse the language on the other sign. I never found out what the meaning of that was. Anyway, I love dogs and cats, but especially cats. I had to visit. It was a fun experience. The cats were as friendly as cats will be, and the whole experience was weird in a good way. Recommended!

    Yup Gatos and Beans in Birmingham its a blast they adopt out kitties for local rescues and coffee or tea comes with admission of 12 bucks . They also do cat yoga

    It can be a hit or a miss. I've been to one in my city a few times. Your experience depends on the nature of the cats - some are friendly, some are a bit skittish about being petted, but are okay with playing. Also if you end up going in the afternoon, they're all asleep 😂

    I think the cats that wander to 3F find out the other meanings of the derivatives for kitty. So I hope you gave the bow legged kitties extra love.

    Yes! I've been to local ones in the Dallas metroplex. Underwhelming and not really a cafe; just rooms where cats roam.
    And I've been to least two in England, where I actually could eat small bites and have drinks. So more like an actual cafe.

    That being said, I'd rather go visit the ones in Japan since they started the trend, and honestly theirs is probably the best since usually it's more well thought out.

    Yes! I have been to Pounce Cat Cafe in Charleston, SC. They have a bar (no cats at the bar) and a playroom where the kitties wander. I went with a friend and we got a package with cat toys and catnip. This was a really fun experience. Even though we went not looking to adopt, we both wanted to adopt the sweet cats after the fun evening. I would absolutely recommend going. The cats are all adoptable from the local shelter, so they always have a rotation of fluffy felines.

    There is a newer cat cafe in Summerville, SC called Mews + Brews Cat Cafe that we plan to go to sometime. I'm kind of scared to back to a cat cafe because I might actually leave with multiple cats this time. Haha! 😄

    I've been to one in central London which felt a bit of a gimmick. But recently went to one in Hong Kong which was great due to the very positive cat to human ratio.

    Almost went when I was in Seattle. I had a reservation and everything. I am very mildly allergic to cats. Nothing bad but I decided it might not be the best idea I ever had.

    Well, after reading everyone's posts I said to myself "I wish we had one", so I googled it and we have a few of them!!!!! I had no idea, so I'd like to thank ~Mike403 for starting this thread!!!!

    My son took "his" cat to college with him last year and I've missed having a kitty in the house. But I have promised not to get another cat while he's still alive, just in case he ever needs to move back home no matter the reason. Kitty always has a home with me, and my son too I guess!!!!!

    Ya'll can find me at the cafe getting my kitty fix!!!!

    I found out about it at a community cuddles event. They were giving out coupons for a discount to get into the cat cafe in Boulder, CO

    I haven't been to one, but would love to go! Maine's first cat lounge actually just opened up near me this month!

    An alternative to consider: many shelters and rescues ALWAYS need volunteers to help care for the abandoned, scared, lonely, and stressed out animals. Volunteering for a local shelter/rescue is a great way to get extra fur baby snuggles in, make friends, and learn valuable skills you can take home to your own pets. I've learned how to trim cats claws and can do all but the most spicy (I'm looking at YOU, Sasspurr Jasper 😒), have given injections and all other forms of meds, have helped with microchipping, flea baths, kitten care, and learned how to start transitioning into fear-free handling. I've also gotten to meet some amazing people doing amazing things for animals in need, have learned how to donate to shelters more effectively, and how to advocate for local strays and ferals in my community. The temptation to bring home all the loves is there for sure, especially the black cats 🖤, but so far I've managed to resist fairly well 😅

    Volunteers don't always need to be experienced, either. Often for fundraiser & adoption events organizers just need bodies to boss around, or many times they'll be willing to teach eager animal lovers. Sometimes they just need people to sit with particularly anxious animals to keep them calm and help them rehabilitate so they can get adopted.

    I went to one in TN right at the bottom of Ruby's Mountain and it was so nice! I honestly think that if cats are your thing then it can be quite therapeutic. Each time a cat rubbed on me or meowed at me I felt chosen like this little aliens in Toy Story. And sitting and petting them while chatting and drinking my coffee was just so relaxing. Little cat cuddles.

    Had an appointment to visit one in Seattle. I'm ever so mildly allergic to cats but I love them (as long as I'm not in charge of the litter box) so I was going to go but I was there for a cuddling trip and decided having itchy eyes during sessions because of cat fur was prob a bad idea. I'm still a little sad about it.

    @stormydaycuddle - I have a self cleaning litterbox. I only need to replace the refill tray once a month which is more expensive than regular litter but worth it.
