Remember to love yourself as much as you love your favourite person <3

[Deleted User]persyprado (deleted user)

Just popping up to remind everyone we are all loved and we deserve love, specially from yourself (the only person who will always be around 100% of the time). Learn what you need and set boundaries to honor it and respect others boundaries and it all should be well. Also, please stay present. The past has passed and it will only depress you, the future isn't certain, so it's sure to stress you. Learning comes from being present. If you aren't feeling good, let me or someone else cheer you up when you can't seem to do it yourself <3 it's all part of self love...

    leave some self love tips and/or how you're feeling...

    Sorry I just can’t do that. I broke up with myself because I am a total asshole who doesn’t acknowledge me.

    @BoomerSpooner 😂😂😂😂

    @persyprado awe. 🤗🤗🤗

  • Some of the good we see in others is a reflection of ourselves.

    Be as willing to forgive your own faults as you are willing to forgive the faults of others. It is sad how much we are willing to love and forgive others but have such a hard time facing ourselves sometimes. I am guilty of this . Ive forgiven those of whom forgiveness is reasonable. I am still working on forgiving myself. The space between the ears can be very unkind. But the more I forgive myself, the more I love myself. It is a work in progress but I'm doing my best.

  • This post made me smile. Self love can be hard when you’re in a bad place or rough life circumstances are piling up. That’s when it’s the most important.

    Adding to the reminder : It’s okay if your boundaries change. It’s okay if what you need today is different than what you needed yesterday or what you need tomorrow. ❤️

    Hope everyone had a great day today!

  • @persyprado well said thanks for the reminder 💛

  • @pmvines Progress not perfection. None of us are perfect. Hugs! 🤗

    Love is never a good thing, and frankly, I think it is presumptuous of you to suggest that anyone engage in it, even with themselves.

  • [Deleted User]persyprado (deleted user)

    @CharlesInWI I'm sorry to hear you feel like that. To be quite honest with you a life without love would lead anyone into depression and to lack purpose. Love is what makes this world a good place to be in. Love is what makes you be excited about your every day. If you lack friends, family, or even just need someone to support you, know I'm here for you...

    What I love most about this community is the degree of openness shared among us. Sometimes painful or awkward, but we are willing to share with “familiar strangers” (I just made that up) things we would probably never share with total strangers or with people who know us too well (friends, neighbors or co-workers).

    It is like a sweet spot of familiarity. Not too much, not too little, just right. From the eternal optimists on here (you know who you are) to the “grumpy old men” (if you aren’t sure who you are just PM me 😂) to the idealists, to those who are struggling, to those who embody every combination of the above traits (hey, we all have our good days and bad days).

    I hesitate to use the word “therapeutic” because I KNOW this is not classical therapy (please let’s not go down that path again). But I do see a therapeutic aspect to this forum.

    For me, the forum has shown me I am not as alone and unique as I sometimes feel. I am surrounded by co-workers and other people in my life who outwardly seem to have all their… stuff together.

    But the more I get to know them the more I recognize the cracks in their armor. The stress in their voice when certain topics come up or hearing what they are NOT saying (it is so easy to paint a false image by telling 90% of the truth but leaving out a few select details - I’ve been guilty of this too).

    The phrase “technically accurate” comes to mind. My favorite example of a technically accurate statement is… “On April 15, 1912 the RMS Titanic departed from Southhampton and 6 days later, 710 passengers arrived in New York City.” Completely true but extremely misleading.

    I feel the familiar strangers on the forums are much more open / raw / vulnerable than anyone I know from my “regular” life and I appreciate that.

  • There is definitely an authenticity due to the anonymity we have here. I love my spontaneous chats with cuddlers, even the grumpy ones. HA! My extravert self loves poking the (introverted) bears.

    @JohnR1972 I agree, please seek an actual therapist/psychiatrist. Everyone has at least one experience that's kinda traumatizing and everyone could find it beneficial to find a therapist. There are also other factors as masking so you might seem like you got everything under control but it's not how you feel deep down, before it gets to a breaking point, a therapist can identify it and help you out. And remember, if you don't like your therapist and you don't feel like they understand what you're trying to say and you see no improvement it is okay to seek for another therapist. Just make sure you still go to therapy, even if you're currently looking for a better suited one. Stay blessed and remember to be kind <3

  • @JohnR1972 love what you said! :)

  • @persyprado - I really do appreciate your concern but my comment about the forum being “therapeutic” was based on some older threads where someone touted the benefits of cuddling as being “therapeutic” and the thread quickly devolved into a debate about perceived vs scientifically demonstrable benefits of cuddling. Many threads have also frayed over the definition of “therapy”. You really don’t want to go down the path of debating the benefit of “color therapy” or “aroma therapy” in an environment where many people are sensitive about and protective of the word “therapy”.

    I am convinced many of the squabbles in the threads are due in large part to some members using words in a common, but imprecise, manner while other members are much more rigid about dictionary definition of words (especially words that have a different connotation today than in the past).

    FWIW - I am aware of the benefits of therapists 😊

  • @persyprado ``...everyone could find it beneficial to find a therapist.”

    Yup, all I need is a good massage therapist! LOLOL

    @JohnR1972 I'm sorry, I didn't want to come off as me directly telling you to seek help. I just agreed with you on the fact it's different and you can't replace cuddling for actually seeking graduated experts. It was just encouraging people who need it to seek for it.

    @AllAboutSoul see what I mean, you're muscles are traumatized and need a little love and help 😂😂😂

  • @persyprado - No need to apologize, I took your comment in the spirit it was intended and I did not take any offense 😊
