I'm afraid I'll get attached to one of the colors though and end up saying screw it and bleaching my hair and dyeing it red, blue, etc.
Hah! I get bored and change my hair color often when I have the means to do so. Salon is a always a treat myself situation, and I have a budget for this set up.
I've used manic panic and lunar tides colors on my brown hair and they don't show as much as I'd like.
Yes, for a color to be super vibrant, it needs to have a light base - which is usually a uniform blonde of some sort.
It got to a point it was so damaged and dry it wouldn't even hold much color anymore and expensive treatments did very little to help
For sure. The down side of changing my hair often especially if I always need to bleach my super dark hair to blonde, even with the best products and professional stylists, is that it's harder to maintain long hair since bleach always will damage hair. So my hair is usually around shoulder length for it to be healthy, which luckily is the length I actually prefer. I personally can't handle long hair. I have a lot of virgin/untampered natural hair right now since I had to be a bit frugal in the last several months. Excited to be able to go crazy with the fun colors again!
