  • Oh nooo!!

  • What? WHAT? 👂👂👂👂

  • No one else like him.

  • Lest we forget: Reubens was arrested for indecent exposure at a Florida porn house in 1991, and in 2002 he was charged with possessing images that were initially characterized as child pornography.

  • sigh I knew somebody was going to post something negative in this thread.

  • @TD1964RGK - I forgave the 1991 incident because it was at a porn house. I looked up the 2002 incident and it was artwork. No actual children was involved.

  • Paul was a genius. I didn't care of the PeeWee character, but he was a genuinely nice guy (I had a friend who knew him personally) and had a great sense of humor.

  • RIP Derek Foreal

We loved Pee Wee and our kids watched Playhouse, totally loved him and the humor!!
I didn’t know he died. Can’t imagine him at 70 even! RIP Pee Wee

  • ”You can say that I’m different, that I’m freaky, that I’m weird — you can say lots of stuff about me. But you can’t say I’m a pedophile. That’s just not a part of who I am. I am not a child pornographer.” Paul Reubens

    I believe that.

His comeback immediately after the indecent exposure bust was also genius P.R. He handled the whole thing perfectly.

"arrested for indecent exposure at a Florida porn house in 1991"

LOL. This was one of the most useless busts of all time. 95% percent of the people in porn houses do that. The other 5% have someone else do it for them.

“Were initially believed to be child porn.”

Kind of like eclipses were initially believed to be the wrathful eye of an angry god.

    Jeez, Louise.

I am not familiar with the subject of this thread. However, on the occasion of his demise, this thread is here to celebrate his strengths and the happiness he brought to millions of people.

If you wish to discuss his faults, please start your own thread.

If you are unable to distinguish between pornography, pedophilia and art, please spend more time with a dictionary.

Okay, this is supposed to be a tribute thread for Paul Ruebens. Not what people do in adult movie houses.

I don't remember all the films he starred in, but have fond memories of Pee-wee. Has anyone seen Big Top Pee-wee? It has mediocre reviews, but I thought it was cute and funny. I nearly lost it when his pig talked.

  • He played a vampire on an episode of “What We Do In The Shadows” last year

Can't say that I was a fan of his. Honestly have trouble watching more than a few minutes at a time of most of his "Pee Wee" stuff. But he had a few fun moments, like this one (yeah, guess what great State I live in!). Also still enjoy the Tequila dance skit

  • @CuddleDuncan @Mike403

I disagree. People should be remembered for who they actually were and what they actually did. Paul Rubens was victorius in facing the facts and not letting fear control his life.

I was late to the party today, when I created my own tribute (a thread called tequila). I’ll
try and delete it now. And, temporarily using a pic of my Halloween costume from 2022 ad my avatar.

    A fan.

@PeopleLikeUs I quite agree, people should be remembered for their whole self.

But we are not here to remember him.

We are to celebrate his good parts. If anybody doesn't want to do that that's fine - just don't post in this thread. You don't turn up at a funeral and bang on about somebody's bad parts. There is a time for that, but it isn't now.

There are people who don't really have any good parts, so it's a bit awkward if somebody tries to celebrate them. And with others there is an important difference of opinion on whether something they did was good. But neither of these apply in this case.

Reminder: I never heard of the guy till this thread.

  • In March 2004 he pleaded guilty to an obscenity charge as part of a settlement in a child pornography case involving the possession of “artwork” depicting minor children engaged in sexual acts.

  • @Mike403 some of the films he was in were in case your wondering Buffy the Vampire Slayer Batman Returns the nightmare before Christmas mystery men and blow just to name a few

  • @CuddleDuncan - He was pretty big here in the United States. Most famous for the children's series Pee-wee's Playhouse.

@CuddleDuncan You don’t know who he is and you find it necessary to help orchestrate a discussion about him. I would never play gatekeeper over someone I'd never heard of.

  • @Mike403 yeah, I gathered! I have heard of the character Pee Wee Herman but I have never happened to see anything with him in it.

  • Other films he was also in were meatballs part 2 sunstone checks in and Matilda the man was a part of my childhood and I’ll never forget him Paul thanks for making the world a better place RIP

  • You can always count on at least one Karen to emerge in these discussions lol. Live your lives, people!

  • This thread is for positive energy however if anyone insists on mentioning 1991 and 2002 I will be more than happy to dismantle those arguments as for as I’m concerned he was innocent

  • edited July 2023

@PeopleLikeUs I'm a genuine neutral in this case, and who he is doesn't matter to me. This is a celebration thread. If he did something bad I do not want to hear about it here. Mentioning it in this thread is just rude.

Sadly, unnecessary negativity is a longstanding problem on this forum. Negative vibe merchants are keen to derail any thread that is positive in outlook. I have no view on this guy, obviously, but I do have a view on the kind of forum I'd like this to be because it does matter to me.

And if nobody 'gatekeepers' rude people they just keep being rude, and making the world a worse place.
