@cuddlefaery I think people in the middle count too. I think that's the point of people being up set that its 1 or 5 or nothing. Your recommendation is the same system there is now in essence.
I think the rideshare model of rating people needs to be abolished. The standard has become: 5 stars means “everything was ok” and anything less means “there was a problem” so it’s just degrees of how bad was it.
In the end it really doesn’t matter what anyone’s opinion in this thread is because like most things, there is a spectrum and everyone falls somewhere in between two extremes. In this case the extremes are take 5 star reviews at face value or ignore them altogether. But I agree with the people who hold that the stars mean nothing. I focus on the words. I don’t care if one person uses five stars and another four, I look at the review holistically. Much can be sussed out from the words.
For example, there are people who have a lot of 5 star reviews with one sentence reviews. Then there are ones where people write “War and Peace” length reviews. Same ratings, but the one with short reviews impress me less because in a word the recommendations are tepid. The one with long reviews means people took the time to express their enthusiasm. Just my two cents.
I think a weird effect of the five star system is when you see someone with less than five stars it is like click bait. It’s almost a guarantee that I will click on their reviews and read more than someone with a five star review even if I have no intention of contacting them. Kind of like rubbernecking a car crash on the road scanning for the dead bodies.
All this talk of stars reminds me of a story from my childhood. ⭐⚫
@bekah_cuddles That’s a good story. I have a Christmas show and I love it.
I don't think of karma before hand, I think of it after. Everyone's a blank slate until I've met and interacted with them. Sure, I can get a sense of them via the forums, and definitely a vibe if we talk on the phone, but I won't know more until I meet them one on one. Call it age, call it wisdom, call it luck, call it whatever you want, but I don't tolerate much in the bullshit department, and have yet to have a bad cuddle experience, because if there's no commonality or mutual interest, or if they've already set off my "oh hell no" alarms, then cuddling is not going to happen.
I appreciate those whom have left lovely karma. Do I like the 5 star rating? No. I'll take narrative over arbitrary and random stars any day.
In answer to the OP, yeah, I'd cuddle me. I know who I am, I like my own company, and if others want to share my space, then scooch over.
