The blanket that hugs you back

Has anyone seen or used these new-fangled “sleep pods” that Instagram keeps telling me I need?

It definitely does look cozy, but I feel like I’d spend 20 minutes getting all settled into it, lie down, and then have a panic about feeling trapped and frantically claw my way out.

What do you think? Would you buy a blanket that hugs you back?

  • @Bella_Sera My thought is similar to yours. I think I'd feel claustrophobic pretty quickly.

  • I have a jersey sheet and a bamboo sheet. Both of them cling to me as I snuggle in for sleep. I don’t get claustrophobic. Yet they definitely are like a hug.

  • I've seen those ads, too. Sounds super uncomfortable, like a mummy sleeping bag, but worse. I like to sleep on my tummy, spread out like a star. ⭐️😄

  • I have two girls: One sensory seeker and one sensory avoider. The seeker hates these but loves her weighted blanket, the avoider hates the weighted blankets but loves the wearable hugs!

Trigger warning: As you get a bit older, getting out of bed quickly is often far more, um, urgent, than getting into a bed quickly...

  • These are essentially the same thing as a body sock (used in dance, and various forms of sensory therapy). They're hugely overpriced and incredibly easy and cheap to make yourself if you know how to use a sewing machine at the most basic level. I prefer these over weighted blankets most the time as they're cooler, breathe more, and don't set off chronic pain issues as much. You can even make them open ended so you don't slip walking around, or there's versions that are like bands around the bed that you slip under.

  • I'll settle with my weighted blanket.

  • I've never seen one of those before but, no, thanks. I'll stick with my cuddle buddy.

  • Ditto on the weighted blanket. I can still move freely.

  • As soon as I'd be snuggled in, I'd have to get back up to pee

  • Awwwh the pretty pretty caterpillars make me want to cocoon all afternoon!

  • These look cozy to me

To me that looks like the human version of a ThunderShirt dogs wear.

I don't think I would be able to get out of it without falling face first on the floor.

I'm more inclined to try one of those pop up tent things that cover your whole bed. As a day sleeper that would have added benefits of light blocking.

This is something I would try.

Set of led twinkle lights, some soft nature sounds, I'll be dreaming of camping.
