@Rezz likewise!!!
I write a great big list of everything that I've done or needs to be done, and then I start crossing off the almost automatic ones like feed critter's, wash dishes, ect.
That way when I get overwhelmed and don't think I get anything done I can actually physically look at a list and comfort myself with how much I actually do.
It's actually a bit of a morale booster as well
I pet this furry creature.
I can’t offer any advice, I’m doing a shit job at dealing with my stress.
@Gronuth I'd love to man! I can talk d&d all day long
I would also add that cleaning is another way I deal.
I work in a spa making everyone else relax. I do a lot to take care of my mental and physical health though. Long bubble baths, audiobooks, yoga, meditation, going dancing, painting, hiking, axe throwing, talk therapy, etc. Doing small things that make you happy and relieve stress on a regular basis is important, because the best person to take care of you is you.
I reccomend disassociation
@oberon been there. Done that. Considering it now.
I agree with @BonnieT . Doing things on a regular basis that relieve stress. Taking a day off as needed, resting on Sunday (and if I have to work on Sunday, I rest on Monday), hot epsom salt baths daily, reading recovery books daily, reading Bible, go to a worship service, pray, exercising, dancing, cleaning out my animal cages is relaxing, rubbing or holding one of my pets, having a fun day and setting aside the stressful stuff for a day or longer, go to a store store or toy aisle and have fun, nap, getting good sleep, drinking lots of water, going outside, talking to friends, seeing friends, organizing or cleaning out is super relaxing to me. I’m actually wanting to do the last thing because I’ve had some stress, and I’d love to clean out some. I eat at home a lot, but if things are stressful and I need a break, we eat out a few meals to help lower my chores.

Unfortunately I usually eat or sleep. I need to change my bad habits.
@BoomerSpooner maybe for you but at this point I’m not remembering lately what order to do things sometimes. Probably because of the 70s. But thanks and remind me later.
Listen to music or eat out
@KYtransplant I used to be a maker of lists but found a life hack that works for me - I make lists of things I've accomplished! I seem to keep a Rolodex of tasks requiring my attention and would be defeated if I couldn't cross everything off the list. Interestingly, I had a shift one day and began to occasionally list things I'd accomplished and found the mental boost to be much greater than the overwhelm an initial list might have caused. 🤷♀️😊
Me and my sister hunt flies. We find it to be a great way to deal with stress
I drink... It's depressing
@Sooson Lol. When I was a kid I would sometimes swat flies, put them on a doll dish and feed them to the stray cats. That was so much fun, lol.
martial arts, meditation, daily walking.
I appreciate everyone's input! Hopefully this will help myself and others in similar situations. You're all amazing 😁
Vodka is the answer. What’s the question again?

My strategies, in no particular order:
I honestly don't bother "dealing" with my stress, because the next stress is coming up right behind that one.
There is no "break", or "rest", or "respite".
It is simply easier to accept that life will always be painful, lonely, sad, and stressful.
Why take off your armor while still on the battlefield?
Going for a drive with the windows down and blasting my favorite music almost ALWAYS gives me a good hard reset. The occasional indica will also help, lol. Video games when I have the time (which is rare, sadly. 🥴) Halo Reach is a personal favorite.
I like Sideon's thorough orderly list. I don't normally tag mods since they are busy. Or they are not busy and liking it. I relate to @CharlesInWI post. Even when the next stress is a while in coming it seems handy to keep your armor on. Maybe I'm just too lazy to take it off
Local indoor shooting range will rent a full auto for use on site. I call it machine gun therapy.
Edit: that, or a cuddle.
