  • @TxTom ooooo! I haven't been to a range in a minute.... love it!
I've been trying to figure out how to post a motorcycle 🏍 gif but can't figure it out lol
So... wind therapy for me! Brrrraaaaappppp!

  • Yes! If it gets bad @Molly_B
Otherwise some ice cream, video games, watching anime or working out.

  • I cocoon in a blanket and scroll on my phone and disassociate.

  • @xandriarain Genuine question? Do the blankets feel confined. I want one but I'm also scared of them.

  • @JohnR1972 - Are you talking about the ones with pedals?? Because, eww, NOOOO!!! The BEST way to destress is to put on your helmet and RIDE YOUR MOTORCYCLE!!!!! Unless it's in the shop getting the back breaks fixed, then you go shoot your gun!!!!!!! Or, maybe it's just me that destresses this way, I don't know. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

Play all my fav songs πŸ€—β˜ΊοΈπŸ’•

  • The gym, outdoor time, snuggles, sleep, gardening, tequila, good conversations with friends.

  • @achetocuddle - tag away. I stepped down as a mod.

Kinda depends on what feels right at the time. Could be any or a combo of:

    • Watching TV
    • scrolling on my phone
    • going for a hike
    • meditating
    • listening to music
    • Something I can focus on like a household chore or cutting the grass
    • working out
    • sit in a chair and just stare at the clouds/ mountain
    • sleep
    • eat well
    • regular therapy sessions with my therapist
    • visit with family and friends who are supportive
    • doing something I find fun (kayaking, tai qi, karaoke)
  • @stormydaycuddle I just use a regular fleece blanket, I call it cocooning because my head is under the blanket as well. It does not feel confined for me.

  • @xandriarain I see.... so what you're telling me is you're a butterfly.

  • @stormydaycuddle She will be in a few days. 😁

  • I love to hike, being in nature does it for me.

  • I like to hum this happy tune to myself:

  • Morning walks in the park nearby while listening to nature sounds or podcasts. My favorite podcast is FreshAir Weekend

For me it's usually video games, target practice at a range, or browsing random videos on YouTube!

  • By punching a dolphin in the face

There's a guide book by The Oatmeal I have for what @pmvines said. lol. I read The Oatmeal comics to de-stress or do something else to change moods. I think everyone said everything else already.

It's a combination of Many things.

Regular and daily practice of scientific Breathing techniques and meditation has been the only thing in combination with a good support system of friends and family along with healthy diet and exercise which truly helped while positively impacting overall well being. I've been practicing the Sudarshan Kriya SKY breathing techniques for the last four years diligently and never looked back.

Everything else I found to have been to be band aids or distractions

  • I don't pray , but the serenity prayer (typically recited at substance abuse recovery group meetings) has some great words to live by.

  • trigger warning

i self harm a lot in many ways physically and mentally. Its all i know that works. I need help one day but this is helping me a lot i need to self harm... been 13 years.

I tried other things like losing 60lb in 3 months by cardio. I am still very sad in my mind.

  • @Curtis999 ~ I totally get that. I don't self-harm in the way that needs gauze, but I can be a complete A-hole towards myself and beat myself down until I literally can't move. I've made progress over the last couple of years, but it still happens sometimes.

I hope you can get yourself to the point of no longer finding it acceptable to hurt you and instead can tell yourself you're deserving of love and kindness. And I hope when you're ready, you can find someone who'll be a good fit to help you through (it took me six different therapists, over several years, before I finally landed with one who's really good for me and who understands how my brain works).

  • @pmvines the Serenity Prayer is an amazing mantra for anybody, not just those recovering:)

    @Curtis999 @quixotic_life
I too use to beat myself up mentally and emotionally. It took A LOT of personal work and therapy to overcome that.
If either of you ever need someone, just message me. I'm always here to listen and help

I get in my car to scream and cry. Maybe hit the steering wheel a few times. That's about it

  • @avebae I'm glad I'm not your steering wheel.
