  • I don't believe in these personality tests . No real science to it , and people are like multi layered onions

@pmvines I agree with you on the shorter and free personality test, but they are fun to take.

  • My personality type is Chameleon

    IAMU

  • I’m ESFP. The Entertainer. 🎤

  • The science might not be there but when it comes to something like personality and consciousness; particularly the so called “hard problem of consciousness” science has failed to yield any good solid answers. Not yet anyway.

But just because science has failed so far it doesn’t mean personalities are all the same. Obviously people are different. Obviously people fall into certain groups. So until science catches up tests like these are the closest we can get. So let’s not be such ESTJs about it. :)

  • Many of my letters can flow as I move through life, since I'm not too solidly on one side or the other, and I feel pretty strongly about both letters in some categories, but the "I" usually sticks.

It seems that I am an Adventurer.

  • @pmvines That's probably very true. I mean, sure there are personality traits, but situational factors can bring out competing traits. I'm trying to get my head around the "onion layers" idea. I think that as we go through phases of life and growth, we find ourselves in changing realities, and we build some type of adaptive response. I don't feel that I'm the same person who I used to be, particularly back when I was abusing substances. Even in recovery I've become a different person from the person who recently moved out of active addiction.

  • Wow I really like this test!!! it describe me to the T 😳thank you for sharing @SunsetSnuggles 😊🥰🌸

  • INFJ-A ; did it again and received INFJ-T 🤷🏽‍♀️

  • Hmmmm. Not sure if I agree or not, hmph.

  • INTJ.

And I wish another CC User who had chided me for stating as much had seen this thread first.

@pmvines I think the value of personality typing is more as a tool for introspection, as it absolutely is pseudoscience more generally speaking. The problem is that people get stuck in black & white thinking with the label and either "oh that's not me at all" and throw out the whole system, or "oh that's totally me" and make the whole system their entire personality.

All the modern personality typing systems are effectively built off of classical archetypes, which are as old as dirt, and the science has far more to do with the "why" than the "what". Not that any of the MBTI or Enneagram fiends would like to admit it, but their systems have far more in common with classical astrology than they probably realize.

I got really into personality typing for quite awhile, trying them all and getting frustrated that I didn't perfectly fit any of them....until I noticed that very pattern - that I didn't fit any of them neatly, and I didn't fit any of them for the same reasons and in the exact same ways. THAT information about myself and my personality told me far more about myself than any of the individual labels ever could. So I started looking at personality typing simply as tools for introspection rather than as identity labels, stopped adding them to my profiles as much, stopped talking about the systems and obsessing. Not to mention there's the prickly issue of the systems being born of white European colonization ideals and eugenics.....

But for those curious as to what I'm working with, and those who know will know 😅....

    • I/ENFP-T (50:50 on the I/E true ambivert, and even going by cognitive stacks I swap 🤷🏻‍♀️)
    • 7w6 9w1 4w3 tritype (unsurprisingly known as the "fairy" tritype 🤣) sx/sp. Every time I revisit Enneagram I seem to flip back and forth between 794 and 974, it's hard to tell whether 9 taking over is trauma people pleasing or just "me" at this point.
    • Interestingly, if you get more in depth into classical astrology with the houses and other planets beyond your sun sign, it starts to sound a whole lot more like MBTI and Enneagram with wings/houses/cognitive stacks impacting how different traits appear in your life. On that note, Virgo sun in 2nd, Aries moon in 9th, Leo rising, and Libra Mercury in 3rd are the most relevant here. And no, I don't believe they're predictive - again, introspective, so I'm far more interested in why people interpret what they think it says about me rather than arbitrarily set archetypes from thousands of years ago.
  • ACGT - apparently human but idk.

  • Can't remember if I did this or not. I'm usually INTJ but a few tests put me as INTP. I prefer the former.

  • Mine says awesome sauce with a sparkle of amazing! 😉

  • Confirms how I've tracked in the past, but interesting how the degree of some of the attributes have changed. I used to be more extreme E, N, and P, and was previously 50/50 on the T/P.

I think as I've aged, the more I've embraced who I am, and don't worry as much about thinking I have to fit a mold, whether that be at work, social circle, even family.

I've also become more content in seeing people where they are, not where I want them to be. We're all different, and that is fun!

  • @pmvines , I'm with you. I remember when mgmt had to do these "assessments" at a staff training day and I suggested that we change it up and also have someone else do it on us. It didn't end well, which was my point. How you see yourself isn't the way others see you.

  • I’ve taken the Myers-Briggs Test twice (2 different points in my life) and it continues to be INFP

  • @cuddlefaery I agree with pretty much all you said. It’s tool, not a definition. I used it in college to help determine study patterns and how I absorb data around Me. I use it now as a tool to help with communication with partners and, well, everyone really.

I, personally, tend to vacillate between INTJ and ENTJ (not evenly, slightly closer to I) so I’m an ambivert as well - “A Fake It Till Ya Make It” kinda introvert, lmao!

It’s nice to have some guidance and to see more clearly when I’m not being empathetic enough, etc.

I will say, I am not at all surprised to see so many self-described fellow xNFPs on here 🤣 it would be the overly sensitive tree huggers and golden retrievers in human form who would be drawn most to cuddling.

  • @PrettyLuv Also! LOL, that was cute.
