Having said that, I LOVE makeup--- from the ancient Egyptian belief that applying it was a form of worship, since in applying it you were adorning the Image of the Deity, to today's minimal looks! Never heard of using it to repel people---hell, if they're halfway decent people, I'm looking to get them to come closer, not run them away!!
This concept sounds like either a social media marketing campaign, or an attempt to start yet another weird, socially-maladapted trend. I'm grateful that my makeup doesn't have to do, for me, what my Bear Spray can do better! lol

I have never heard of this new trend. It’s a shame what women have to go through in regards, how they’re are treated and looked upon. A new predator defense.
Unapproachable make up sounds like too much work. I just stay fat, keep cats, and dye My hair bright colors - seems to work fairly well.
@TheGentleReina add older to that mix and men of a certain age will stay away in droves. Most don't care for snakes, either.
@KaaGee I'd try the snake thing, but My husky hates them, lol. He purges the yard violently of any snakes, which is sad since they're not harmful or venomous.
And, frankly, I welcome getting older (not for that particular perk, but in general). Plus, I can't stop it anyway! 😂

as a guy who has struggled with dating, I empathize with this …. there was a time where I thought only ‘supermen’ could date women.
@sunnysideup I empathize with your statement. There was a time when I thought men would only select a female partner for sex if he deemed her the most beautiful woman in the world. Like modelesque perfect beautiful. So if you were chosen it meant the woman was really beautiful. Later I’d see all these couples that completely defied that notion and it would perplex me. Like I’d wonder how is that possible. Of course this was during my virgin days when I thought sex was this huge thing for a man or woman to decide on doing and I placed heavy emphasis on looks as being the ultimate determining factor in that. Later though I realized men aren’t as selective or superficial in choosing their partners for sex as I thought they were. It was basically me putting sex on a pedestal that made it like a prize if you got selected and therefore something you had to be perfect looking to do. Otherwise you can’t have sex. I think in a way it was me being overly selective that caused me to think everyone else was. So when you say “supermen” it might’ve been you putting unrealistic expectations on yourself to meet unrealistic ideals of what would’ve qualified you for a date with the person you liked.
In much the same way, I think make-up is rooted in these same unrealistic ideals of perfection that stems from those pedestals we place on others outside of our own natural beauty in order to be looked at or chosen by another.
@TheGentleReina you have to keep them separated from the other pets lol. I just checked some YouTube videos for this trend... I don't think it's going to do what they think it's going to do.
37 in a smidge over a month. Not that old but…Age isn’t working.. thought looking like a soccer mom (as my friend so lovingly put it the other day) would work… eh, close but all those divorcees…I used to wear an obscene amount of make up due to personal insecurity (obscene in my opinion. For me.) …doesn’t ward off evil spirits. Cats seem to attract other strays. I’ve been close to 200 before and that didn’t work… also been 120 so no go in either direction.

@PrettyLuv Yes, in my virgin days I only thought women would select a guy for sex if he was extremely talented or the ‘best genetic material’ out of all the guys she knows. I often wondered how average guys were able to date women, and I was perplexed like you. I definitely think it was me putting unrealistic standards on myself by overvaluing sex.
Most guys I’ve talked to put a lot of value on looks in dating, and I think it’s the second most important thing when it comes to a hookup (first thing being available, since not everyone wants to hookup), but for regular dating, most guys just want someone cool and kind, a friend they get along with that’s generally their physical type. And the same appears to be true for women, except maybe throw confidence in the mix, that seems super important for dating for gals.
@sunnysideup Just speaking for myself, confidence can run dangerously close to arrogance, so it's not ever something I've actively sought in guys. Humble, shy, and even guys with raging self-esteem struggles are all perfectly worthy, dateable, and yes, every bit as attractive. I'd rather get to know a guy who's real and honest, than one with false bravado. This goes for relationships or friendships, both. And sure, if a guy is truly confident, that's great for him...but that's for him and his emotional well-being, not for me. What's important to me is how open he's willing to be with me, do we click, does he share quality time, can he discuss deep topics. Confidence honestly isn't even on the radar.
Fairuza Balk wore raccoon eyes beautifully. Not an "approaching" deterent at all. Loved her in The Craft.
