Will there be a app for this at all in the future? I have an iPhone so I use the option to put it on my home screen. Whenever I read a discussion or look at anything I have to start over because there's no back-and-forth arrows.
Definitely number q discussion here before. I wonder if developers could tell us how much I would cost to do so and take donations to reach that goal however long it takes. I'm thinking 200 to 500k because I wqs looking at single.project to start an app and it was 50k minimum

There will never be a true app, unless CC grows to ten times its current size. Too much expense, too much management time, not enough benefit (e.g. zero additional revenue). And if we're going to crowdfund quarter of a million bucks we can find a much better home for the money than that.
Your best solution is to swap to Android. (Thinks ..... If I had a dollar for every time I've thought or said that, I could pay for the wretched app myself...)

There's no button to go back to the previous screen on iPhones? Which is probably why I use an Android.
@CuddleDuncan - It shouldn't cost quarter of a million bucks. Coding isn't that complicated. Maybe they can ask ChatGPT to code it for them.
I was able to design an Android game in my free time with absolutely no experience and learning as I went. I wouldn't think an app that displays data from a website would be that much more difficult.
Please list the things that your missing from a native app, and we'll see if they are feasible to implement in the PWA.
Push notifications is often asked for, which I believe is now supported on newer iPhones/iOS versions. To enable you need to go to Settings and tap the green "Install" button, then open the app from your phones homescreen, navigate to the Settings area again and should see push notifications.
The back button is implemented in some parts of the UI, like going to Settings, Conversations, is there anywhere else that would benefit from it? Worth mentioning that Android and most phones have a dedicated way of going back a page - either through dedicated bottom menu or a gesture of some kind. So a UI back button shouldn't be necessary, but it can be useful if it's not clear how to navigate back.
@Bear I have an iPhone13 and I only view the site on my phone, never computer. I don’t know if you want to do it this way but I always have the tab open in the chrome app so I just tap on chrome, tap on the cc open tab. And it pops up. I never sign out of the site either. It’s basically asleep while I’m not active I guess. When I have the site open, I can swipe down and get a back button like for any other website. I hope this makes sense. I’m not great at explaining technology! If you have questions, just message me!
@Bear when I was still using my iPhone, I kept the site up in a tab on Chrome ans I turned on browser notifications for the site so I would get a notification if there was an update. I don't recall if Safari can do that as well or not.
@carrieanne @cuddlefaery I originally had it saved on my home screen. I just opened it up on Chrome because I usually use Safari. It’s working here on chrome. Thank you.
I concur with @Heather0803 and @Mike403 - I work in the industry and no way an app would cost that much to develop. maybe 10% of the estimated costs, but that is still high.
But nothing is free. What won’t be spent in currency will be spent in time.
Currently it’s mainly a mobile friendly web page. Which mean if acts like an app when you’re on your phone but you access it directly from a webpage.
I’ve heard Web Apps are easy to create from websites. Some of the Windows and smart TV apps are Web Apps
So I decided to give 'trying to figure out the getting of the CC app' another go (I'd tried so many times previously) and by being somewhat methodical I figured out the disconnect I'd had!
I first had to change my main webpage 'view' settings by clicking the little dots at the top, and then putting a check in the "Desktop site" box...
It looked really different (I only use my phone in profile on here, and the change made it so the entire landscape view one would see on a desktop, was all dinky in my hand). But moving on...
I then clicked on the little arrow under my CC profile pic (at the top right of the screen), then clicked "Settings"...
And just like magic had happened, I saw the little green box that said "Install App"!!
So I clicked it... and, Poof!! All the Hoorays and Yays!!!
Now I have the CC app instead of a Google site pin!! Whoot!!
edited to add ~ I'm not one who likes that super compact view where pinching & zooming is necessary to see what's what... So once I had the app installed, I went back to my browser tab and deselected "Desktop site". It's so much better now!!
