  • It’s interesting how people wanna control others and cannot control themselves by just not reading or participating. The forums are for everybody and not anybody’s particular playground. People need to learn how to share.

  • You be you, @Jova114 . We haven't crossed paths, but from what I've read, you're deliberate, thoughtful, and kind.

    Speaking as a former mod here. Other than TOS and forum rules about specific topics to NOT engage or initiate, it's pretty much a free-for-all for topics. Mods don't police subjects or content - until or unless posts get flagged. If folks get a message from a mod, they're pretty specific with suggestions on how-to or what-to based on the number of flags the OP's posts may receive. The site's goals are for users to engage and create opportunities to cuddle. If folks care to share their thoughts constructively, and the community is receptive and engaging, so be it. As in any other thread on any other site, including here - it boils down to pull up a chair and discuss when you're interested - and skip the topics that don't.

    @Jova114 - in my research, I have been reading so many invalidating, triggering things because people (even so called professionals) are only filtering what they hear/read through their own level of perception, without having the context of a) your intention or b) your lived experience.

    So many people use words like "cry for help" "attention seeking" "trauma dumping" "complaining" because in their world, they are the only thing that matters, and they haven't learned to hold space for people with empathy and compassion.
    Most people haven't really needed to. They can't imagine that anyone else experiences things differently. People assume and our brains our wired to take shortcuts and label things so we can make sense of the world. Most people don't stop to check that the way they are interpreting something is the same way you are. Our society/culture doesn't teach us how to do stuff like that and some people really just aren't capable of it.

    You make some very valid points. In no way am I throwing him under the bus, hence why I never mentioned him by name, just wanted to see if I was helping/hurting the community.
