I need to fulfill my history requirement at the university so I'm taking this course which is about how humans shaped history. I never thought I'd struggle the most with this course. I have autism and while I'm good at math, I really struggle with reading comprehension. I recently had to read the Epic of Gilgamesh which is the oldest known piece of literature and discuss it.

    I LOVE the Epic of Gilgamesh, and so so many of the related myths, archetypes, and music.

    And, happy geek that I am, awhile ago I made a Gilgamesh amigurumi, complete with the Sumerian rune for “Enki” (life) as a clay tablet upon his temple (a symbol of his immortality…)

    Did I mention that geek thing?

    We all have to research and give a 10-15 minute oral presentation on a historical topic. My topic is on the Black Death with a presentation date of September 27th. (next week)

    Ah yes, yersinia pestis, the very worst of the worst.

    It and its forebears yersinis enterocolitica and yersinia pseudotuberculosis are the stuff of nightmares.

    Black Death (3 times), the Plague of Justinian, Izumi Fever…

    What aspect were you thinking of speaking about?

    @CharlesInWI - Probably start off with a history of the 14th century, what the Black Death was, it's origins and how it spread, the consequences of it.

    These are the scheduled presentations in this class. The non-presenters have to submit a report of each presentation detailing what we learned, the strengths of the presentation, and how it might be improved.

    Humans are an interesting species.
    They create things like Stone Henge, the pyramids and beautiful works of art.
    But also the most disgusting and horrific ways to hurt one another.
