I first saw this movie as a child when it came out in the '80s. It was played at an after school program at the elementary school I attended at the time.

    I loved it as a kid. I watched it as an adult a few years ago and it didn’t have the same effect. I should try again.

    If you were to twist my arm to name only one, my selection would be "The Best Years of Our Lives" (1946). It won the 1947 Academy Award for Best Picture in addition to several other Oscars. The film is always shown at least once a year, if not more often, on Turner Classic Movies (TCM).

    @60sKindaGuy “twist my arm”. I know what you’re doing. The Best Years of Our Lives features a young man who is a double arm amputee and WWII veteran. He did an amazing job winning an Oscar in his first feature film role. He tells one of several stories in the movie what it was like trying go back to civilian life after a hard fought war. Still watchable now although it’s really long. It could have been 3 movies.
