Would you cuddle you? 🤔

  • Does anyone understand the five-year-old part?

  • No, because I don't cuddle men.

  • Sure why not

  • I would not cuddle my younger self, because I had an issue with my body size. Especially my belly. I work on self-love every day. One of the things I do Cuddle myself. Especially my belly. I’ll put my hands on my belly in my body and show myself self-love.

  • I would definitely cuddle another of me from any time in the last few years. I'm happy with who I've become.

  • No, I would not cuddle 5 year old me. Nor any 5 year old the matter.

  • Yes, I would cuddle me. Though I would probably suspiciously read my entire profile first, looking for any signs that I'm a sneaky untagged Pro. 😅

I would not cuddle five-year-old me, because I don't cuddle anyone under 18, or preferably, 20. But I know that isn't what you're getting at.

@WestsideMarc She's asking about cuddling your younger self, likely due to the many people who may view themselves as unworthy, now, but would view their innocent five-year-old self as worthy of cuddles. It's a mindset shift often used in counseling.

  • I would cuddle me for as long as I could! :)

  • Oh yes! If I were to meet myself, I'd know that he'd have all the same motivations for cuddling as I do: just because it's such an easy way to make people happy. People should be able to share the type of cuddly love that cats do with their owners: an unconditional love based only on the fact that being nice to each other is nice, with no overly complicated societal norms attached.

I'm not sure I'd cuddle my five-year-old self, it feels like he'd be a little young for cuddles with a 'stranger'. It was a couple of years later that I really started to think about how much nicer life would be if people could be as simple to connect with as pets were. I'm sure I'd cuddle my fifteen-year-old self!

  • Yes and yes! 💯

  • [Deleted User]needsumcuddlz (deleted user)

    Yes I would.

  • I definitely would.
5 year old me could also likely use some serious cuddles.
I like the way I cuddle. I think most of us probably want to be cuddled the way we cuddle.

  • @sunnysideup Right?? I don't want to cuddle with people I have to babysit 🤣

  • @Runawaycuddles yeah, they are sofragile, and if anything happens to them it’s going to be in me and I’d rather not have that

  • @Katota beat me to it. 🤣

I definitely would cuddle me. I'm very giving. 😊 5-year-old me? I dunno, maybe. Possibly too fidgety. Lmao

  • 5 year old me was a little s#!+.....so she probably needed to be cuddled- but I wouldn't want to do it....me now? Sure- she's pretty cool, down to earth....and she's squishy....good cuddle material. 🤣😂🤷🤦

  • Five year-old me was a Ritalin junkie in 1960s California more interested in running around at full speed for hours. The only person that could keep up enough to cuddle me then would be a meth addict on a peak high and momma wouldn’t allow that to happen.

I think a cuddle for me at five would have involved both parents, a tranquilizer gun, and an exorcism.

  • @Bear I love your profile name and found what you wrote touching.

@cuddle_bug88 my five year old would have wanted to be friends with your 5year old self. Not sure how well recieved it would have been though.

@SunsetSnuggles love the sound of warmth and loveliness your profile name conveys.

I would cuddle with my 5year old self but I think I would have wriggled free and ran off.

  • If I cuddled my five year old self, I'd create a time-travel paradox where my five year old self would die of unprecedented happiness, meaning that my sixty year old self would not exist to come back and cuddle my five year old self.

  • I'd have to tell myself to relax and stop talking a few times.

  • If I can be cloned, yes I would cuddle myself. That way I could see how good a cuddlier I am, LOL

  • @waynewv Now that is a good idea! LOL.

    @waynewv 😂

Yeah I would cuddle with my five year old self and maybe even leave a certain somethin somethin and some kash too ! 🤣😇

  • @sunnysideup I keep some kids, and the five year old is not fragile, she’s rough and tough. She wrestles the older brother with the best of ‘em. She’s fierce!
There’s a baby sign in her room, it says she is little but fierce. Five years later…so true!!!

  • This is a really good question interesting and thought-provoking. I’ve always said if I was guaranteed someone could be 100% platonic and I knew it 100% of the time then I could do this full-time. Knowing that I can be platonic and friendly and funny. Of course, I would love to cuddle someone like me I’m extra snuggly and like to get really close. And I have good intentions to be a persons friend without any weird agendas, I would like to cuddle five year old me. But more than cuddling I would like to play with five-year-old me because I was a fun kid. I love spending my days in the woods and what better place with a five year old in the woods discovering things.

I was reading lots of the responses. Such a good question and good responses.

  • Not really, but would i cuddle my my mind, my skin sack? Not so much

  • If you came across a cuddler with all the same traits and behaviors as you, would you cuddle them? (Be fully honest with yourself here)
Depends. Will they be a pro? Cuz I don't cuddle pros.

Would you cuddle 5 year old you?
On yes. She had sticky fingers though so Id hide my possesions...just in case.

Did your answer change, and why?
Eh. 5 year old me didn't charge for things until 7 so yeah

Knowing your answers to these, might it change how you approach other cuddlers?
    No.

For those confused about the "5-year-old you" part - @SunsetSnuggles is correct:

She's asking about cuddling your younger self, likely due to the many people who may view themselves as unworthy, now, but would view their innocent five-year-old self as worthy of cuddles. It's a mindset shift often used in counseling.

Part of reparenting ourselves for many of us with childhood trauma or less than ideal upbringing is getting our touch needs met now - but first we have to acknowledge if there was a deficit and how best to address it. For instance, someone who has touch trauma due to childhood abuse is going to approach cuddling rather differently than someone who lost their mother figure really young.

There's also the gender issue. As adults many of us have closed mindsets on what gender(s) we are comfortable cuddling - whether due to social conditioning, trauma, inexperience, etc. However, if we consider cuddling our kids or cuddling any child to comfort them, gender doesn't really figure into it because attraction doesn't figure in to it - the cuddling is purely about meeting touch and emotional comfort needs, not sexual or romantic. I see so many people struggling to find partners when they are automatically eliminating a large portion of available cuddlers based off the assumption that they must cuddle the gender they are attracted to or it would be "weird". They'll claim it's a preference, but then then if you dig deeper they often will never have even attempted cuddling someone with whom they wouldn't have sex. They're still locked in the cuddling = sex mindset that they are depriving themselves until it festers into blame - either of themselves for not being worthy or for their intended partners for rejecting them. If our community as a whole embraced cuddle partners regardless of gender (outside of trauma triggers), I think there'd be a lot more cuddling and a lot less negative feedback loops happening.

    To answer my own questions:

Yes, I feasibly would cuddle someone with the same traits as me, as I cuddle people of all types. However, I wouldn't say it'd be an "ideal" pairing, as we'd likely trigger each other's ADHD like crazy and spend way more time off on wild talking tangents and getting overly excited about various topics than actually settling down and relaxing 😅

(Side note - I find it really interesting that so many people automatically assumed that the cuddle partner would be the same gender as them when I tried to word the question gender-neutral. I think that rather reflects a lot on people's biggest concerns when they seek cuddle partners - see my earlier comment on "the gender issue")

As for 5 year-old me - absolutely, she needed a lot of cuddling, and maybe if she'd gotten it later life would have been extremely different.

As for informing how I approach other cuddlers - being a teacher, I already knew that our younger selves are still ever present and part of us, and doing reparenting therapy has highlighted that even more. There's a very primal aspect to cuddling since it is an activity we are drawn to from birth, and we even talked about it in somatic theory for dance. Like dance, touch and cuddling speaks to our deeper emotional selves in a way words often struggle, and I've seen this play out in cuddle parties and pro sessions with cathartic releases and therapy breakthroughs that can happen afterwards.

Because of all this, and knowing how badly my own younger self needed touch and cuddling, I've been trying to have more discussions with other cuddlers about what emotions and memories cuddling brings up for them - trying to more actively hold space for talking about childhood wounds and healing. I've always been a mom-friend type and teacher, so it's just naturally extended to my cuddling practices to include and share what I learn with others while offering warmth and comfort.
