Phone numbers

Hi! I got a text message today from someone to my phone. She said she found my phone number on the app. I was under the impression that information was hidden from others and that all communication was to go through the app. Had anyone else had this issue?

  • I had someone on here want to communicate through WhatsApp to protect her phone number. After we communicated a few months a]she was ready to trust me with her number. Didn’t have the heart to tell her WhatsApp gave me her number from first day. Although I’ve never used the cuddle app. Think I might need to check it out.

  • @DonLonG Woah, there's or was a way to talk on Whatsapp without giving people your number?

Just for clarification, CC is only a website and not an app. There have been threads asking about making an app but it is unlikely to happen for a variety of reasons.

I am not aware of any way someone could get your number via CC’s website unless you gave your number to someone who left you karma or you left them karma then someone asked them for your number. I would consider that a huge breach of trust and privacy if that happened but that is the only way I can think of how someone would get your number through CC.

  • @caperunner did you ask her which app she might be referring to? CC doesn’t have an app so it might be that she gleaned your info from somewhere else.

Or it could just be a scammer if she didn’t bother naming the actual app she got your number from.

  • She said it was on the cuddle app. I’ve only really recall speaking to one other female, and she was a prob also. I’d given my numbers to others in the past, but I can’t recall who would give it out

This seems like a scammer. There is no way someone can get your number from here unless you send it to them, or unless someone who has it sends it to them. I get random messages all the time from people I don’t know, and they are getting more and more sophisticated. They try to chat you up hoping you would reply saying they have the wrong number or something, but then they reply back wanting to be your “friend.” Then the scam starts.

Just ignore these messages! If you reply you only confirm to them your number is active and make yourself an immediate target! Worse, you get even more spam messages because now they know your number works.

  • Hmm, sounds suuuuper sketch to me. From my understanding, and I'm far from an expert, the website behaves somewhat like an app when viewed on a mobile device. However, there is no actual app (i.e. Android/iPhone). And I'm virtually certain that CC never, ever gives out that kind of information to anyone else. It's possible she got your info from someone who left you karma like @JohnR1972 suggested. There's a super slim chance it's a legit inquiry, but I'd proceed with extreme caution as it may be a predator. Have you been able to verify it's a woman and not a guy posing as one?

Did the person specifically say from a cuddle app, or just "a/the app" and you assumed CC?

I also am willing to bet 1) this isn't a "she", and 2) it's a scam just messaging random numbers until they get people who respond.

I cannot recommend enough that people research how to stay safe on the Internet, how to spot phishing scams, etc. There's free training resources available to see examples of current text/email scams.

@caperunner I am sorry you had to deal with that. I would say it's a scammer or a stalker that you had given your number to previously. I was on different kind of dating site and had someone literally make a reddit post about me trash talking me and telling people I offer services that I don't. They put my phone number and my Instagram information on it and pictures of me. I have people messaging on Instagram about it and had someone texting belittling talking so many awful things about me the other day criticizing my looks and me as a person. I literally cried. It had to have been someone I previously gave my number to. People are so cruel when they can't have access to you.

  • Ask her exactly where she got your number, and what her username here is. If "she" responds, see if you have interacted with her, here. Very sketchy, but it's possible you gave your number out months ago...many people do erroneously refer to this site as an app. Be careful out there!

  • Thanks, I don’t put a lot past people. I was at a doctors appointment today and tried calling my friend after, and my microphone wasn’t working, so when the text came through without a name, I was confused thinking my phone was being goofy.

I have reported some weirdos who got banned for sending me messages with nudes. He sent two topless girls saying he cuddled with pros naked, and said he assumed I would as well. Then he back tracked saying that those pics were from a porn site. So it’s possible someone is mad that they were banned for inappropriate behavior as were all encouraged to remain clothed.

But this person who texted today, I told her that phones numbers weren’t given out on the website, and that all communication needed to be done on here. Who knows if the person is real

Yeah no one provides their phone number when making an account and there is no where to store it so they didn’t get it from the site (unless you gave it out to someone and they shared it). And as others have said, there is no app. You can install the site as a web app, but that wouldn’t change anything.

  • @caperunner i had a former client share my number with the world but not the site.

  • Uggh. What a turd, @stormydaycuddle !

For what it’s worth, I set my WhatsApp up using a Google voice number. So, yes, you can use it without revealing your actual #.

  • It’s been 10 years since I started my account. I don’t ever remember having to use a phone number when registering though. This sounds kind of fishy.

  • @Lovelight Whatsapp put the phone number of the person messaging me at the top of the screen. she thought it was anonymous, until a couple months later she realized she could see my number, then she asked if I could see hers. I confirmed I could. She wanted to know why I never directly texted or called her. I explained beause she never officially gave me her number, or permission to use it. After that we just texted/called each other and we both deleted whatsapp.

  • I never accept unsolicited phone calls or texts.

  • @MonkeyNeedsAHug that was in my younger days. I let him pay by Zelle. Eeek.

  • @caperunner I agree with the posts above but to be on the super safe side, I've sent you a message so we can both try and confirm the potential misinformation involved.

  • @Suzyq123456
That sounds so awful. Were you able to find out who, or report it? Cyberbullying, harrassment what are the laws where you are on that? I'm not sure how Instagram actually works.. did you get any support from the app at all?

  • @stormydaycuddle Wait WHAT?? Did you report them?

  • Thanks for the info everyone. This is the only place I have that’s related to cuddling, so that’s why I automatically thought of this. I’ve given my number to a few people, after dates and times were confirmed in case something came up they were running late. One person, assumed that is was appropriate to talk about cuddling naked, then proceeded to send topless photos of two different women. Iv reminded him of the guidelines and that he agreed to terms that stated that we both be clothed during sessions. He got upset because I guess he thought we were the same as sex workers. He may be the one who gave my number out because I reported him.

  • @4cuddles oh yeah, he was reported. He made a fake account of me, put my number up told everyone to call me. And mentioned something horrible about my mother because I'd told him she was sick. She is fine now. The site took care of it.

  • @stormydaycuddle -That sounds scary! How apalling! Stuff about your mother, when she was sick too!! How sick!
People that do such sick things don't care to consider the impact it could have on the person. Thank fully in your case the survivor! Glad your mother is fine now that & you were supported at the time.

  • @4cuddles it was weird but it turned out okay and I learned to avoid Zelle.

  • @stormydaycuddle Is that the same as the payment platform? Had to Google it.

  • @4cuddles chase bank. 🤗
