Always Right Syndrome and lack of confidence

The biggest things I have learned while reading these forums over the past few months is how many people have to have an opinion on EVERYTHING. And they’re ALWAYS RIGHT. Even if you agree with them, they will argue that they're right-er.

They must proclaim their authority on every subject. More importantly, everyone needs to hear their facts (opinion.) Most importantly, everyone needs to agree with their facts (opinion.)

Self-confidence doesn’t need validation.

It’s well-known that people who are the least confident over-compensate by trying to make themselves look smarter by constantly getting on their soapbox. Many of us here will disengage when we know the discussion has turned into potshots, manifestos and diatribes. Many more will NEVER engage because of the aggressiveness and ugliness. And it seems like nearly every discussion has to turn ugly because grudges spill over from other posts.

Confident people know they don’t have to prove their intelligence, their value or their worth by constantly talking. They aren’t worried about always being right. Their minds are open more than their mouth. They don’t have to proclaim their authority on every subject. They know when to disengage. Or not even engage.

  • I agree with what you’re saying and I’m I’m not right-er lol but what bothers me in addition to this is when people are downright rude.

  • @starrynitecuds
    I'm right . You're wrong . The end .

  • 100% any direct challenge to this however will leave you in timeout.

  • I feel like you read my mind with most of this! I tend to read a lot of forums and rarely respond unless I have juice about a topic. There was one recently where just trying to get through the comments sent my anxiety through a tailspin. I can appreciate a good balance of thoughtful comments and comedy, then sometimes my eye rolls once too many while reading, it gets overwhelming and I just have to log off.

  • I agree with @pmvines yet I righter then him.

  • @AlexysDanyelle I'm with you. I rarely respond in the forums for this very reason. I'm not on the site for .... as @starrynitecuds says.... aggressiveness and ugliness. Respectful disagreements are one thing but I don't want to need CC cliff notes to figure out why grudges and other drama from other discussions are spilling into various discussions.

  • @Kense and that is why I stopped engaging in "non platonic elements"

I think I will also take a break from the foe room.

  • The person who yells longest and loudest is correct. That's what I've learned over the years. Demonstrable and repeatable evidence is nothing compared to yelling.

  • lol and 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 to all

  • @JasonCuddles ..and some are allowed to yell longer and louder than others..

  • Have a good weekend everyone

I agree with @pmvines yet I righter than him.

@Bear I invoke a superlative and say I am more righter than both of you. Ha!

  • I’m wrong… I’m definitely wrong.

  • @morpheus You can be wrong and right simultaneously. Just make sure you are wronger and righter at the same time.

  • Whereas I certainly agree and feel there can be an unwelcoming and argumentative sentiment that I myself have been guilty of at times and continue to be a work in progress with, I do stand by my belief that there are also a rather large number of people on here who wilt at the smallest hint of criticism and disagreement , and want everything to be cotton candy and back pats for the woe is me victim mentality to the point where everyone else is seen as a bully or a clique . @starrynitecuds brings up some very valid and real points and issues that need to be addressed and I don't want to take away from any of that . My thing is that some folks would benefit from getting their own self esteem and emotions in check instead of complaining about an Interwebs stranger who said something in some kind of way that bothers them . Even if I butt heads with someone on the forum it had no bearing at all over whether I feel we would get along in the real world . It's never about hard feelings or anything personal . We are supposed to be too grown for that.

  • @starrynitecuds agreed, what gives me comfort is that in the end everyone will realize i was the rightest. Whether i tell you what i think or not. It helps me sleep at night.

  • You can be wrong and right simultaneously. Just make sure you are wronger and righter at the same time.

    That's called quantum morality.

  • @TxTom

    Wow just wow

  • I also think there are people that are toxic and seem to just enjoy toxic environments. We’ve all seen these types of people. Always in bad relationships, blaming everyone else, staying in bad relationships. Some people don’t seem to know any other way. Toxicity is just normal to some people.

  • You're right
