@sunnysideup I have driven Volvos for several years and I have had the S60 but I now have the R-Design C30 they no longer make anymore but they use in rally car racing in Europe. The seats on all Volvos are super sweet and the cars always remain grounded even with 8-10 inches of snow. And one of the few cars left made out of steel still.
@TheFunCartel The car is quite comfortable. I have a long road trip to Dallas and l’ll be sad that I have to swap the car to something else for that trip.
The engine in the S60 is totally bland though, the steering is bland, it has a turbo 2.0 like everyone else, and the engine is not as strong as BMW’s 2.0 turbo for example

The C30 does have a 5 cylinder engine. And you are right the S60 is tame but it has more zip than most sedans on the road.
Sounds like you have a pretty cool car.
Yeah, the qualities that make the S60 tame also lend itself to being quite comfortable and great for long drives.
And yeah the S60 I have has 247 HP so it’s not a slow car at all
Congrats, something special about buying a brand new car . I have gone 10+ years between a new one. I’m not one to buy every year or two. I have a1959 Ford that I have owned 40 years. This truck is my 115th vehicle I have owned. I have sit down and ordered about 7-8 new cars/trucks so I could get exactly what I wanted for color and options.
Certified pre-owned, high mileage, no radio or cupholders.
@BerrySweet That is a good looking car for a first car. Just remember to wash it frequently because black shows dirt easily.
@sunnysideup I never drove a Volvo. It a nice car. I miss the days I was driving rental cars regularly. Back then I was doing Y2K coversions for Erenst & Young and they only allowed us to rent Avis which only carried GM. So I drove all the Chevys , all the Pontiacs, but the favorites were the LeSabre and the Oldsmobille 88. I miss the big sedans.
@Sooson Volvo has a reputation for making very safe cars, though not the sportiest of cars. I believe that Volvo was the first to come up with the idea of the 3 point seatbelt.
Big sedans have pretty much been largely replaced by crossover and truck SUVs.

@TheFunCartel Before returning the S60, I filled it up with 93 gas and it seemed like the engine perked up a bit. Probably prior renter filled it with 87 instead of thr required 91 to save money

@Sooson I don't know if they still do, but Swift had a lot of Volvo tractors in their long-haul fleet.
@HarleyGirlKate @Sooson I see a ton of Volvo tractors, almost as many as KW, Peterbilt, and Freightliner. A local fuel carrier, Coastal, uses Volvos almost exclusively.

@TxTom Yes, you are right, there are a ton of Volvo trucks out there, and I'm not surprised. My experience with them years ago taught me they are good, basic trucks that were reliable. If I were buying trucks for a large fleet, I'd certainly give them a look. Remember wishing the sleepers had been better, but ... basic. 😐

Nice looking new car @BerrySweet Here's some free advice - keep the car for at least twice as long as the loan. So if you have a 6 year loan, plan on keeping the car at least 12 years. After the loan is paid off 'pay' yourself the same car payment into a savings account, minus anything you have to spend for repairs and maintenance.
Then when it IS time to trade in, you've got a hefty down payment to cut the cost of the next car.
CERTIFIED PRE OWNED is a great way to go. Bought a 2016 Mercedes E400 Coupe in May 2018. It had an MSRP of $69k and would have sold for close to that. I ended up paying $38k out the door and got 12 months free maintenance. Odometer had 23,000 miles.
I've since (8/4/23) traded it in on a new 2023 GL35 AMG. Inventory of CPOs was nearly non-existent in 2023. New E450s went for $83k.
Basically what I do @Jubal. Sometimes I buy a used car and can just pay all cash. I have a friend who had trouble not spending part of the house payment on other things. She got paid every 2 weeks. She subtracted half of the payment from the checking account at the beginning of the month and then she knew she would have the house money ready without thinking about it. This is not the same thing at all as saving money ahead, but it reminded me of this. I think doing whatever you need to do to keep up with your spending is fine, even tho I had never heard of that.
