Please don’t put candles on your beds. Not too many candles. No candles.
Lava Lamp?
Sheena123 and CaringSoul, very nice spaces. I am inspired. I don't have a cuddle space at my home but I may create one in the future.
Why do pros turn the lights off? I'm curious why you didn't ask those who did it with you for their reasoning. I tend to turn off lights and pull shades shut not just for ambiance, but glares or light reflections can be harsh and distracting. Many curtains are outside noise-reducing, which is nice. You should mention your lighting preference in your communication.
@zerolight40 the ones on my bed along with the other candles I use are battery operated
@CaringSoul, that is a gorgeous space!!
@Sheena123 Ah right yeah… there is that. Admittedly I use real ones in the bathroom. They smell like cinnamon…
Colour could be a factor as well here. Government buildings are all decorated in bright colours because it cheers people up and stops them rioting. 🤔
Edit: I’d totally fall to sleep in some of those comfy beds. 🛌 Oh wait, that’s a different thread…
Trying not to scare you lol 😉😂😂🙈 Sometimes lights off is more relaxing. I always do whatever preference the other cuddler has, but they often ask me whatever i prefer

When I was a kid, my grandma would call the electric bill, the light bill. Do people still do that?
@Morpheus yes, though in my experience it varies by area - probably due to how much different places rely on gas for heating and cooking. Back in the Carolinas it was a lot more common to hear than here in California, but it's also more common further north in rural mountain areas.
Thank you @AMF @WiserGuy3000
@zerolight40 I'm really, really clumsy and have, like, a LOT of cats... I only "burn" LED candles and then use electric warmers to get the scent off of real ones 🤣 I'll do the occasional real lit candle in the bathroom during a bath, where the only things I can knock the flame over onto is water or tile, and no cats because they think I'm drowning lol
@cuddlefaery how many cats do you have?
@Sooson I have 3, housemates have another one, so 4 total in the house plus a large dog and my birb.
@cuddlefaery I never even knew electric candles were a thing until today! ☺️
But I think it raises an interesting point about the immediate environment with regards relaxation, peacefulness, tranquility. The general state of the surroundings, and making it conducive to cuddling. I’d never thought about any of it until I saw the pictures up there of the rooms. I like the idea of honing the space for its purpose. Lighting, colours, sounds, smells. The general ambiance is important, especially for people like me with mental health factors. I’ve OCD, depression… it all makes perfect sense.
@cuddlefaery Cool. 5 cats here. all rescue (craigslist from peeps who cant afford to raise, off the street at few weeks old, or a moment before were gonna be taken to a shelter afrer owner passed)
@Sooson yeah, ours are all either what we affectionately call "trash cats" (rescued from the street) that were fully feral or 2nd gen born to captured moms. I started collecting black cats because of their lower rate of survival and adoption in shelters, and it just sort of kept happening 😅
Speaking of lighting and cats... If you have them and get one of those galaxy light projectors be prepared for it to essentially be a giant laser toy and utter chaos to ensue. Although one of mine likes to just bliss out watching them, his brother literally runs up the walls trying to catch the "bugs" 🤣
100%. Confirmed. One of mine also chases shadows
@cuddlefaery mine like to check out the light and cast giant cat head shadows on the ceiling. It's quite ominous 🤣
@AimeeJ Clearly the legend of Ragnarok is wrong. It's not a wolf, it's a cat.
@Unscented_Lemon I mean, duh. Everyone knows Frigg is the real one wearing the pants afterall.
Speaking of movie mothers....
