πŸ˜‡Movie Mamas: Heroic and Villain Alike😈

With Mother's Day coming up this weekend, I thought of a topic of discussion regarding movie character "Mothers" that you enjoy or despise watching in movies. They can be heroic or villainous, it doesn't matter because they are fictional characters with fictional storylines portrayed in fictional settings.😁
If you root for a "villainous mother" that's okay too, share why you choose to root for her.😊

Lagatha, from the series, "Vikings." I love how she loves her children, and how honorable and good a friend she is in a world of treachery and shifting alliances.

If I were an NPC in her world, I would be honored to be one of her cohort of bodyguards.

  • Well, I will start by saying that yes I actually enjoyed and rooted for Pamela Voorhees from (the first and original) Friday The 13th. Jason was all she had, so yes I understand her rage and her madness and her vengeance all due to the tragic loss of her only child, Jason Voorhees.😊

  • @HarleyGirlKate Thank you, now it took a while but I did finally watch most of the Vikings a few years back. 😊Now she was Ivan's mother and the other 2 from Ragnar's 2nd marriage...???πŸ˜‰πŸ€”
Lol. It's been awhile for me, so I'm trying to remember. Again thank you for commenting!πŸ‘

Certainly. πŸ™‚ I enjoy reading your posts.

She was Ragnar's first wife and the mother of his first son, Bjorn, who is a major character in the series and becomes a great explorer. As you say, they have other children. I was sad when their daughter died from plague.

They separate when Ragnar conceives a child with a princess whom he doesn't love but stays with because she is carrying his child.

Ragnar wants to stay with both women, but Lagatha leaves, ends up marrying an abusive nobleman, whom she has killed, and takes over his position ...

  • @HarleyGirlKate Thank you kindly, I don't post many discussions here. But I thank you for the compliment!😊
Ohh yeah, now I'm remembering she was a shieldmaiden and yes she was Bjorn's mother and yes I recall her marrying the abusive nobleman and she really had it out for "the princess" too. Now, it's "the princess" that I got Lagatha confused with...πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ
My mistake. Like I said, it's been awhile since I've watched Vikings. πŸ˜„

  • @pmvines Mrs. LIft! 😁

    Ya know, she's not a woman...She's The Terminator!πŸ˜„πŸ˜„πŸ˜„

Well according to Larry, she is. Thanks for commenting!😁

  • Marmee from Little Women, played by Susan Sarandon in 1994. Her calm guidance and strength of character was a thing to behold.

I’ve got loads of these. What about, Evelyn Abbott, the mum from β€˜A Quiet Place’ as portrayed by Emily Blunt.

  • @BenJay2 Yeah Margaret White was definitely missing some screws there, but she was KINDA RIGHT about Carrie being tricked at The Prom...Noticed that I did SAY "KINDA", that was good mentioning her.
Ha! I almost forgot about her.πŸ˜πŸ˜„

Of course I did feel bad about Tommy, he was an innocent who died needlessly in that blazing gymnasium. 😌

Oh, I had forgotten about that wonderful adaptation of Louisa May Alcott's splendid novel. Little Women was on my list of favorite books when I was a child.

  • @SunsetSnuggles I never watched or read Little Women, thank you for mentioning her anyway.😁

@zerolight40 Okay, that's another one I did watch awhile ago...Help me out here, didn't she give birth in complete silence?πŸ€”πŸ˜³
Which I understand why, but surprised that she pulled it offπŸ˜„.

Lol! I couldn't go through the pain of childbirth in SILENCE, if I tried.πŸ˜„πŸ˜„

I mean I didn't go in the hospital screaming, but there was definitely some grunting and heavy breathing going on (during my labor pains 15 yrs agoπŸ˜†) and yep we would have been dead. I will admit that!πŸ€šπŸ˜„
Like I said, IF my memory is correct about A Quiet Place. If not, feel free to correct me please.😊

@Katota Yes that's right! Actually that was one of the best scenes in the film. =) I'd be screwed because I can't do anything in silence...

  • @SunsetSnuggles that and freakin Bambi....

  • @Jubal Sarah Conner definitely was a badass mother of the future, I do agree. She definitely needs recognition!😁

  • @ScroogeMcducky Charly Baltimore, another badass mother. Lol! My favorite scene was her tossing her daughter out of harm's way into her tree house. 😁

And then there was that whole ice skating rink scene too and I quote:

"Life is pain, you just get use to it!"

    😁

  • @cuddlefaery Morticia Addams was definitely kooky, but also she had kooky children therefore it's a good match.😁

Ms. Honey was definitely a sweetheart!😁❀

  • @Vocalist100
    😁😁😁

Ripley actually was a mother three times, wasn't she? LolπŸ˜„
Or we can pretend that "third one" never existed, seeing as she had to put it down before landing on Earth in Alien Resurrection. πŸ˜„

  • Mary from Precious, I just wanted to stab with 50 railroad spikes...She was just an awful mother! πŸ˜’

    SmhπŸ˜”

Monique did a hell of a job portraying "Mary", I only watched Precious once and that's enough for me.😌

  • I liked Maude Garrett from Shadow in the Cloud. It's an interesting and good movie, though is weakens some as it goes on. Still worth a watch, I think.

Also just going to mention Carly from the show Travelers, not because I think she is a great mom or anything, but because I just really like the show in general.

  • Whoops, I forgot this literal queen of everything....

(Frigga from the Avengers/Thor movies aka Frigg in Norse mythology)

  • @JasonCuddles Thanks for commenting, I have heard of Shadow In The Cloud. I have never watched it though, but I do appreciate you commenting about it!πŸ˜πŸ‘
