@CelestialTouch fwiw, it's not usually THAT easy to get athlete's foot - your skin would have to be really compromised for that brief of contact to cause infection. Consider pedicurists - they would constantly have fungal hand infections if it were that easy to spread. Or dancers - we would constantly have ringworm and athlete's foot from contact with each other's feet.
Athlete's foot is a fungal infection that needs prolonged damp/humid conditions to grow. A healthy skin barrier that is regularly cleansed and kept dry is unlikely able to be able to support the fungal spores growth. That said, if your skin is compromised by diabetes, eczema, cracks, or other conditions - by all means add an extra barrier level of protection. But there isn't any reason to be overly concerned about casual dry contact - just don't go around wearing their sweaty socks or reusing their damp towels 🤣
Signed, And immune compromised barefoot dance teacher
@cuddlefaery You've done your homework, it is a fungus. As a fungus they produce spores, getting trapped inside little nooks of our skin and with the right environmental conditions it grows and spreads. Maybe not just the feet but other parts of the body as well. If Im ever in a public shower like a gym, I wear sandles. The name is based on the location or part of the body it has spread to, which can be anywhere. Hence the guy that was smelling dirty socks was breathing in spores. Thats why thorough washing is important before and after client/patient interaction. I have some great books on dermatopathology with visual aids!
Interesting post, never thought about it consciously but since you brought it up – no socks.
I think the decision on this one should involve scrutiny and discrimination as the endgame is foot to foot contact.
Having said that, IMO if you’re going to go barefoot -HAVE NICE FFET (condition). If you have dry, rough, scaly feet, sharp nails, calluses, dirty, unmaintained, touch or just anything that’s not going to feel good and smooth to the other person, then keeping your socks on is always the safest bet. And do you really wanna put yourself in a position where someone might ask you to put your socks on?
It’s funny though, because I actually mentioned in my profile that I have nice, clean and normal feet so it’s ironic that this is big talked about.
Socks, until it feels suffocating and I’ve had enough.
I absolutely agree with the post above me. Being hygienic is a solid standard everyone needs to follow.
My feet and toes are fairly ugly, so I typically wear soft comfy socks for a cuddle session. I don't mind if she goes barefoot or wears socks, I always leave that up to her preference.
I don't mind either way but warning, my feet are usually ice!
Socks on for me, matching socks is always fun too.
I guess I'm going to be the one to say what everyone is already thinking: The best foot coverings for cuddling are scuba fins.
Socks for sure and fuzzy ones in the winter ❄️
Socks, much warmer.
Always tall socks! So good! I wear "I will F-ing Hug You" socks from @sillysassy
No socks (at least for me). I keep my thermostat set to 68 and usually sleep without covers because I put out so much heat. Unless the room is unusually cold, I prefer to go sockless.
My feet are always freezing, so I prefer to wear socks, but I often don’t in the summer because I wear sandals.
Knee-high furry socks, but they have to be red. Think Elmo. 🤔🤣
Socks off
I wear thigh high stockings and prefer the cuddler to do so as well.
I don't have a preference. Definitely socks if it is cold though. I go with my bestie to get a pedicure fairly regularly, so bare feet are fine by me.
No socks, unless my Pro happens to be a Hobbit, then I will kindly ask that she wear socks.
Depends on if it’s cold or not,
I prefer no socks. I have however never requested socks or no socks of my cuddle partner. However they are comfortable is fine by me.
I don't think there's willful deceit In what we have heard on the street, But we're never told By those who are old, That socks are just bags for our feet.
Personally, I prefer not to wear socks. Always willing to put them on (or not take them off) to match someone's comfort level. But the reason I have this preference is because I have a habit of rubbing my feet against the feet of my cuddle partner. Something about it is just soothing to me.
Without fail- tall (over the knee) socks on me. Super soft, brushed acryllic so not itchy or irksome to feel. Client- whatever they like for their feet. I've found keeping my feet covered helps stop the creepy feet people, and my feet are also like popsicles.
Definitely socks for the creepy popsicle feet people 🤣 jk
Some people have a thing about feet so I always ask first! But I prefer no socks ☺️
No socks here
@TxTom: No socks, unless my Pro happens to be a Hobbit, then I will kindly ask that she wear socks.
Haha, I would love to cuddle a hobbit! Both from the books and the movies. They have such cuddly personalities. Funny how the Hobbits seem similar to me in many of the film adaptations and the dwarves and works espoften feel different than JRRT's books.
