Any poetry enthusiasts here and if so, got any favorite genres or poets?

You can also feel free to comment anything you've written, so long as it's SFW, or if you wanna write something right now.

By the way, do you enjoy going to poetry events to listen to others or just reading or writing?

Personally, I enjoy writing it like once in a blue moon, I've since transitioned more to songwriting. Though I feel listening to it read may not be my cup of tea. I realized this after attending an event where there was one reader who read one or two. My brain just started drifting and I started feeling kinda bored. Though I remained polite and applaud, because that was still a job well done even if my brain couldn't handle it. I'm not just yet gonna knock it though, I think I'd give it a few more tries and see if I feel differently.

I don't have an affinity or much interest in reading it too. However, I feel that way about pretty much every reading material lol. Though, I'm interested to hear about your experiences, and how you came to love poetry in whichever way you do. Maybe I'll also get to read some of yours if you share any. Perhaps you never tried and would like to? 😊

  • Mary Oliver is my favorite poet.

  • @Mela_B is up there on my list of faves

  • I enjoy writing poetry in my free time. Don’t really read poetry but listen to a lot of old rap. Tupac Shakur comes to mind. Also loved watching Mohammad Ali trash talk. He was so smooth with words.

I have been asking a bunch of people for help in poetry.

  • I enjoy some uses of language. The ballad of Mike Hagar is the one I am currently thinking fondly of.

I also enjoy The Darkest Dungeon.
"When the lavish spread began to spoil, a ravenous gourmand gleefully proposed that we sample from the fetid pile of composting refuse! The notion was dismissed as decidedly unhealthy. But days later, he was found cackling madly atop a heap of rancid comestibles, licking his fingers in delight"

    It's glorious.

  • Sylvia Plath was a gas.

i like me some darkest dungeon - just don’t get it on the switch - everything is too small to read

  • The dualistic nature of God is always an interesting topic. Blake wrote two poems about just this. One was called the lamb and the other was called the tiger. It’s the one I think about most
