Burnt out

Maybe I'm alone in this, but I'm just completely burnt out on being rejected. I almost feel like every time I go to fill out a profile of any kind, platonic or otherwise, I just peter out after a few sentences because it's truly exhausting trying over and over and over only to meet the same end.
I know you have to fake it til you make it. But my energy online is dead. I'd rather try striking up a conversation with a random person in real life and get rejected there. But getting over the last 3 years of isolation and learning to have casual conversations again is a struggle I never thought I'd have.
Please note that I'm referring to platonic connections. Dating would be nice at some point but that's not the point of this site. My point is, telling people who I am in a profile of any kind is just mind numbing.

I am going outside to play.

    @TeddyBear81 You're not alone buddy.

This is obviously an overused phrase but you are overthinking it.
I dont claim to be Carl Jung but many times we reject aspects of ourselves. Filling out profiles is definitely an energy zapper if we are feeling down so it's probably best not to do it then.

Just a word of advice-There is a lot of info on your profile about your challenges and what you dont' have or like.
I would stick to what you like and what you seek-Focus on the state you would like to occupy -not the state you are not happy with. That is not easy to do in life-but starting with your profile may be a good idea.

All the best and get around a dog if possible -they never reject anyone and they are the best cuddlers out there.

I'd rather try striking up a conversation with a random person in real life...

    I would suggest exactly that.

Strike up a conversation with someone at a bookstore about a book recommendation, or at the grocery store about an ingredient for a recipe. Make that your focus so you won't worry about what to say.

You'll gain confidence as the conversation flows naturally.

  • Hmmm so it seems to me that you are burned out from “online”? If so then simply log off and explore everything real life (sorry folks) or tangible life has to offer. In person you can see thru the other person.s eyes or voice what they are thinking or feeling. Here you mostly talk with “someone” behind a profile. Just be YOU in person. If it doesn’t work out with anyone over a certain period of time— 3 months/ 6 months/ a year then step back and analyze whom you are projecting. There is a plethora of suggestions but each person IS and Individual so great the, as such. Pain is difficult tor read!,! .

  • I think your profile here is fine. I assume you're referring to other social sites then?
Just plagiarize your own best work.

I suspect you're one of hundreds looking for an Enthusiast, not a Pro. The news there is as you are already painfully aware.

Hopefully a Pro will reach out ( with your permission). Maybe give you a discounted rate. Ladies? Anyone?

  • Rejection is projection <3
    People are mean sometimes.

  • Even with all the websites and apps, the most (and best) connections are made be accident. If you feel good about yourself and have a positive outlook, people will find you.

  • Sounds like you have the answer. I think tour expectation of this might be a little off. It's not rejection on a platonic site, Rita just not connection. Go where you find connection. Online dating is for the birds imo. In online dating i believe less is more. Except less in a match you'll get more than you asked for. Invest less time and energy in it you'll get more than you want. But here, just participate and you'll find some folks to connect with. Finding a cuddle enthusiast doesn't come easy for anyone (man) Or a cuddle that's worth the time and effort. Things that come easy often aren't worth it

I should have clarified rejection. It's a total lack of reply online. No enthusiast of any kind reply. And yes my profile is lacking enthusiasm, but I'm just tired of typing really. I'm not able to translate my personality into text it seems, but even this lack of energy isn't who i am. i'm just tired of the online world. It's exhausting trying to connect with people this way.

Add to that the fact that I seemingly have to pay for attention is kind of soul crushing.

  • Sad, but the OP has deleted his account.

  • It is too bad, but maybe for the best. Sounds like he needs a break from looking for what he needs in life via online. Some good advice in this thread. Hope he takes it. 💙

  • Wear a free hugs shirt and run your errands normal. Often you’ll forget you’re wearing it and a solid random huge gives some dopamine.

If he thinks this place is bad, he should try job hunting. LinkedIn has more ghosting than Hill House.

  • @KuddleKingg a man wearing a free hugs t shirt can also be viewed as incredibly creepy and work against meeting new people.

@wilderdude It could, perhaps, work if you are young, attractive, and unintimidating.
