  • As far as a cuddler goes, just listening may help. Giving advice though really should be left up to a professional therapist/counselor that has advanced degrees in mental health.

As far as other tips, there are plenty that people can Google to help with these things.

Talking to others definitely helps. ☺️ It can be very challenging for me because English is not my first language (and I struggle with communication to begin with!) but just pushing myself to talk to someone helps me get out of my own head.

The best for of non-physical therapy is just reaching out to someone in need and just offering an ear if they need one. It's simple free and you can plan an entire day around it. Look at how many Veterans are alone, they don't have their kids visiting, they are on deployment and so on. Veterans like me rarely leave the house because our anxiety and PTSD takes over very quickly and some people are just hurtful both online and in person, but on the phone at any time you don't have to leave the house. I'm not a fan of video conversations so for my online gaming streams I use a avatar, but still communicate through my microphone as many do as well.

  • Most of my life, I have been the caretaker or caregiver. Friends will come to me to talk to. I've been told that I'm really good at holding space. Giving hugs. Letting people vent. One of the newer things I had to learn was to Listen without giving advice.

The last year I have been struggling myself. Luckily I found an anti-depression that finally works. That has made a huge difference. I've taken about four different ones in the last 20 years.

One thing I've also found out that helps is just spreading the positivity that I feel with others. To cheer somebody up and see that smile is comforting. Knowing that you may have helped somebody feel better in general or such can be a boost as well.

I think of the meme quote that I see. You don't know what the other person is going through so be nice. If I am not struggling myself on any given day, I try to be positive to others, as well as humorous or such. Humor is one of my favorite things to bring to somebody. I truly believe that laughter heals.

I'm genuinely curious, you're a Pro. So do you mean you will give support via free virtual AND in-person sessions?
Because if not, this is a solicitation and not allowed on the general board.
