ANYONE TRIED HOUSESITTING or know someone who has??

Thinking about trying house sitting unfortunately got to pay one time $70 fee to get started. But not paying that until inl finish my research on YouTube and various articles

Not trying to get rich but just seeing if it's worth house sitting doing my days off from main job vs other side gigs uber mowing yard etc

    I know someone who is on trusted house sitters, it's a site as well as another person who does it mostly full time and they do long and short term gigs year round but it's also not a paid gig . It's more a room and board in exchange for house and dog sitting .

    I’ve house sat before for people I know.

    Normally with jobs, there’s not a fee to work, or to start up. What is the one time fee for? Just trying to alert you to scams that may be out there.

    There are websites where you can sign up for stuff like this. I’d look into that.

    And yes, that would be a good gig if you can do it around your other jobs. There is profit in all labor. A lot of times they may just need you at night, so it can definitely work around other jobs, but if they want you to be there 24/7, that should be a higher rate.

    Also, be sure you are okay with any animals they have.

    I personally haven't seen any free or exchange for room types but I'm sure they are there. It's like a free hotel for the weekend. I saw a few listing some had low pay like 40 a day trying to see how people made it work full tike unless they had a work at home job an old bring a travel computer for main income.

    Yea not sure what their fee is for lop.maybe just to weed out people with a barrier of entry

    Ouch prices went up use to be 70 now over 100 lol and no longer 1 time ugh

    I know two people who are on that site one used it pretty much year round and it is not a few for sitting it is generally in exchange for rook and board . People don't so they will have places to travel and new places to see. It's a legit site but you're not an employee or income generator

    I have a friend who does overnight dog sitting. She stays at the persons house so it’s almost like house sitting as well. She has gigs every weekend. Sometimes I feel like she could full time dog sit and not need a place of her own.

    Way back in the 70s-80s I used to housesit a lot, it’s a great side gig. Now I sometimes do some dog sitting that includes housesitting while people are on vacation. I know of someone who does not have a home and does this all over the country, all over the world full time. Goes from one job to the next.
    In fact - in a way - that’s what I’m getting ready to do for the rest of this year,

    And yes, people will do home trades, vacation home trades, there are websites for that - it’s fairly common.
    For those who don’t believe this, leave your basement, There’s a whole other world out there that you may not know anything about.

    I have done a few house sitting gigs for clients from a previous job. (Nothing from a site.) It involved taking care of their domestic pets, some minor cleaning, and being available for early cleaning crews and tent/chairs setup for a party. There was a rapport and trust established btwn us.
    It sounds like you want it as a cash gig with people you don't know. As others have said, there are scam sites. Be aware.
    You'll definitely want to start a business. Might want to talk to an insurance agent to see what coverage they would recommend for you. Figure out payment options. You'll want to get with an attorney about drawing up a contract. There's a lot of liability involved. Be aware!

    Just came across this looking for another post, lol. At the end a month I’m going away so I started looking for options for my dog Princess. I don’t know the procedures, but there is the Rover app. Dog boarding at your house, dog sitting at the pets house, dog walking, dog play visits. It looks like you set your own price because there is a huge variance.

    I did it quite regularly in the late 70s & early 80s before I got married. Yes it was a thing even back then.

    @Bear, yes! I'm registered as a Provider for both Rover and Wag! Both sites/ apps include housesitting as an option when dog sitting.
