  • fruit salad with a dressing made from small box instant vanilla pudding and 12 oz pineapple juice. Mix dressing the night before so it has time to dissolve well. Including sliced kiwi will make a pretty salad but so many people don't like it.

  • Grilled lemon pepper salmon, steamed broccoli with cheese, @achetocuddle 's fruit salad, and grilled pineapple with Blue Bell vanilla ice cream.

  • I'd eat all that TxTom :) btw Why are you an orange block?

  • Team Cheeto. The Big Cheese.

  • Key Lime Pie, another favorite summer dessert.

  • tuna tartare, sliced avocado and a chilled rose'

  • One of those jello salads that some pretentious people make fun of with cottage cheese, crushed pineapple and condensed milk or Cool Whip. Yum.

  • @achetocuddle I think I threw up a lil in my mouth after reading that description =)

However, with food or anything to do with taste, we ALL have differing Yummm's and Ewwwwww's

  • LOL, Dear @KnightlyCuddles, but you didn't leap at the opportunity to indirectly tell me how lowbrow my taste is. That's what counts, ha ha. Seriously tho, I would love to live in a part of the USA where the selection and quality of food is better. But I would still eat jello salad occasionally :)

  • Grilled whole fish. Gimme the head and tail. Red snapper preferred, Chilean sea bass also nice. Spanish mackerel is better for the oil although last time I wrestled with bones so it’s not a first choice. Lezzzgo grilling season!!

Heavily mayo-ed pasta salad with green and black olives!! I CAN BE BRIBED WITH FOOD... Just throwing that out there..lol

  • @achetocuddle then Thai you m’lady for not labeling me as ‘pretentious’

  • Dear Knightly
You are definitely not pretentious :) Pretend I am awkwardly curtseying, lol.

Pasta with olives is good, for me it can be mayo (if it's like Hellman's), viniagrette? or tomato sauce. Of course not cold tomato sauce. I know someone who uses the olive brine as the dressing. That's too salty for me.

I love Chilean sea bass but we don't always have it in my area. Plus it costs three times as much as some fish. But it is 3 times as good as a lot of fish.

  • @KnightlyCuddles I haven't seen enough of your food tastes to judge, but when it comes to chivalry, thou hast no superior.

  • @Unscented_Lemon after quickly reviewing “A Knights Creed”. I simply bow theatrically and smile

    Ceviche

  • @HumbleBaron This is probably more what the OP had in mind :) Is that hominy or corn next to the ceviche? Whatever it is, looks good. I sure would enjoy living close to the good food. Plus people in New Jersey and New York know how to make good deli meat.

I really don't have a good answer for the OP. In summer I eat a lot of the best local fruit and vegetables I can find, but don't really make a good dish out of them, just eat them.

  • Does anyone watch the midwestern mom make all kinds of jello salads on tik tok. She is great to watch and has some wild recipes.

  • Oooo I highly recommend looking up chickpea cucumber salad it's so good, I made too different versions, would go amazing with a nice steak done on the barbie.

  • How many of y’all still drink hot coffee on a hot day? I remember my grandparents would always drink hot coffee, didn’t matter how hot the weather was. I would look at them like what’s wrong with you? Guess what though? I do the same damn thing now lmao

  • A Chinese friend recently told me that traditional Chinese medicine says that the temperature of what you drink should match the temperature around you. So hot drinks in the summer, cold drinks in the winter. I think this is one thing Chinese medicine got wrong. While hot drinks will make you sweat, I think any cooling from the sweating is offset by the temperature of what you drank.

I will still drink hot tea on a hot day, but that's because I like hot tea, not because it's hot day.

  • I drink about a half pot of hot coffee everyday regardless of the temps. I'm making a concerted effort to learn to like iced coffee, but it's taking a while. Unless sweetened, coffee tastes like cigarettes to me.

  • @Bear I never seen that, but I really enjoy watching Pati Jinich make some amazing food on PBS's Pati's Mexican Table.
