Geese rule the world!

As I sat on the highways waiting for a flock of geese slowly meandering across the road to the other side seemingly without a care in the world it suddenly occurred to me "what a great life the life they live." Sure they face dangers, but for the most part they seem to have a chalant attitude! I imagine if they had their own cuddlecomfort site their discussion topics would be generally friendly and non-offensive. They are not perfect as they peck at each other Ron occasion but they do set an example worthy of following! Are there any other animals in your world you feel we should mosel our behavior after?

    I love geese.

    I love the honking sound they make, and I love the great V they make in the sky. I love they way they mark the seasons as they fly over, if you live in the right place. I like their sassy attitude on the ground. I was bitten by a goose once - just a warning bite although I have no idea what I did - and still I had warm feelings towards this poor goose who was clearly outraged at whatever it was I'd done.

    And I love the taste. It's a very fine meat, goose, not quite like anything else.

    Idk. The geese around these parts are plentiful, gather in large groups AND poop everywhere

    We even have service companies that just do geese poop cleanups and are licensed to remove geese from your properties.

    (Canada) Geese are an overpopulated species that need to be drastically culled. They are capable of destroying ecosystems due to their current numbers.

    Well the challenge with some of the above ideas, is that geese are protected under the Federal Migratory Bird Treaty Act. The only way to get them off your property is to use non-lethal scare and hazing tactics. Its a pretty big industry around these parts and kinda neat to see the professionals do their job.

    @OhioMike they could increase bag limits for hunting seasons. Though in NY we do have a 15 bird/day bag limit for most of the September season.

    @Mr_Cuddle_Bear who knows? maybe someday. That's a lot of birds per day! I didn't realize that. interesting. I think in Ohio its like 6 per day maybe... I'm not up on my bird hunting laws lol. I have a large pond that for 20 years plus has been geese free thanks to that wonderful invention...bottle rocket fireworks. Always keep a few in the garage!

    @MarkBPhx for geese control I just use the whistling ones not the POW!! ones It seems the whistling of the rocket scares them off rather well

    Back to OP, yeah idk if geese had a site like this, I think the forums would be full of posts about pooping in peace 🀣

    Is that how we handle a species that generally represents good behavior by demonstrating a carefree attitude---no wonder why geese bite people---i hunting season also open for CC members who peck without justification?

    Geese are mean and vicious critters when the mood strikes them. If geese had social media, it would be way more toxic than anything humans post.

    My hometown (Davis, CA, the next town over from where I currently live) has an infestation of wild turkeys that are both protected and a pest that gets culled every year. They hold up traffic, terrorize citizens (I've seen a tom chase a mailman in a truck down the street for more than 2 blocks), damage property, etc. 😬 oh, and they can fly short distances so those big ass suckers will roost in trees and on roofs, causing more damage, then fly down to scare the crap out of you like a giant flying monkey

    They just look like skinny geese--I'm sure they would get along. From their aspect---we are an annoying infestation unless providing them food! I'm typically annoying in the absence of oatmeal cookies.

    @cuddlefaery I think turkeys are a getting big populations everywhere. I recently couldn't return a book because a massive flock was between me and the drop box. I have also been encountering large flocks in Massachusetts when visiting my family outside of Boston.

    OMG! Here in Northern Colorado, we have geese like crazy! Since there's lots of water here (I know, sounds unlikely, but there is!), a lot of them stop here when they migrate south from Canadia. THEN, some idiot back in the 70's decided he wanted to take some eggs and raise them to be natives here. So, generations of geese later....we have an ever increasing "native" population PLUS the ones that stop here when they migrate Ugh 🪿

    And those things are mean AF 😯😬 Although, I have to admit that it's fun seeing all the babies in spring...cuz they're adorable little fluff balls 😍

    Canada geese are an invasive and overpopulated species. Their numbers need to be reduced significantly. Their poop contaminates ponds and other bodies of water.
