Bored

Hello everyone

Comments

  • Greetings! Want to hear about the intricate process by which a copper jacketed lead projectile is expelled from the muzzle end of a Ruger brand Mini-14 rifle chambered in .223 Remington at approximately three thousand feet per second?

    I do! πŸ™‹πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

  • You have got some superb bathrooms in which to have photo sessions in bravo I am very impressed

  • Lol, this thread is already entertaining.

    Dear babygirl,
I feel like the old woman I am saying this, but you are too young to be bored! Sorta kidding you tho cause I know spates of boredom can come at any age. But you live in San Diego, easily one of the best places on earth. Man, I wish I was there instead of sweltering in really boring middle Tennessee. Hopefully you will be entertained by this thread. Best wishes on your cuddle quest.

    Excellent!

First, the safety must be disengaged. The shooter presses forward on the safety lever, releasing the hammer which comes to rest on the sear, and the safety lever stops in the Fire position. Next, the shooter will place their finger on the trigger and apply pressure in the direction opposite of where the barrel is pointing. This causes the sear to release the hammer, which moves forward at great velocity due to spring pressure from the hammer spring. The hammer next contacts the firing pin, causing it to move forward rapidly and with such force as to ignite the primer of the cartridge in the chamber. This causes a flame front to travel thru the flame hole at the back of the cartridge case, and into the main body of the casing which houses the gunpowder. This ignites the gun powder, causing intense heat and pressure to build in the cartridge. At a critical level of pressure, this causes the projectile to begin moving forward out of the cartridge case and down the barrel of the rifle. As the projectile enters the rifling, the soft copper and lead is deformed and seals neatly into the rifling grooves of the barrel, which impart a spin on the projectile as it accelerates down the bore. Once at the muzzle, the projectile leaves the barrel and begins travelling to the target, while all excess gas pressure is vented from the muzzle with a loud report, and bright flash.

@sooson you do know which state I live in, right? 'Murica! Jk, but really it sounded like an interesting topic. :)

    Yesss πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Edit: Also, I could go into far more detail on the subject, but even the mild version got a little lengthy!

  • [Deleted User]FriendlyFemale (deleted user)

lol, it did, @Specialist_Log but I got through it. I have been told I have the attention span of a 5 week old kitten. It's mostly true, but I read it all! 😁

@BrianOcean Not sure if that was sarcasm... so if not, then ☺️ but if it was, then 😀

  • My mind when I read the title of this discussion ^^

  • @Specialist_Log

OK, I shot a Ruger mini 14, .223. I do not know the mechanics as well as you. I never heard of a sear. Plus when I googled it, I found a list of terms. That was not on it, Nor was flame hole. I was really curious what that is, the flame hole.
The part about the barrel and the opposite and was kind of funny but probably needed unfortunately.>!

On the mini-14 in particular it's actually a small portion of the larger trigger. On many firearms, the sear (aka the part which holds the firing mechanism (in this case the hammer) in the cocked position) is a separate piece entirely

Oh and it's actually called a Flash hole, that's my bad! It's a small tunnel in the cartridge case that allows the flame from the ignited primer to reach the powder charge which supplies the vast majority of the pressure needed to fire the bullet. :)

  • Oh, what a potentially tangled web can be woven due to typos or autocorrect, lol. This thread is most entertaining.

    Not Sarcasm at all-

Love your dance videos as well-

  • I don’t understand how anyone can be bored.
