Self Confidence

After helping a rather large turtle cross a side road in a neighborhood with a lot of traffic---my mind began to wonder --as it often does--and I began thinking about self-confidence and its importance in maintaining a healthy mental state. Going back to the turtle---rather large--lived a good life--decides to cross a highway a dangerous adventure for almost any creature--especially a turtle! What makes an individual take such an adventurous journey---one with the self-confidence in themselves to know they can make it across safely! The turtle most like didn't need my help at all given his/her (trying to use the proper pronoun) confidence. The incident made me think not only about the turtle---but a posting I just read posting (selfie I think it was entitled) where a woman posted a selfie of herself in her natural state after coming out of the shower (clothed--no make up). It was a posting I actually totally respected and found very unique! I agree with her statement that dressing up is nice however, it isn't something you should stress about or by the sole criteria for judging character. I often at times forget to look in the mirror before leaving the house and have gone outside with a tee-shirt in-side out on more than a few occasions. I believe I share the same philosophy of the selfie poster in that "I am who I am"---and I am happy with myself and really that's all that matters as long as you are respectful to others! Self confidence helps defeat depression and contributes to a positive attitude. Life shouldn't be focused on impressing other--sadly in many cases that is what society expects (i.e work environment). I think the professionals supporting CuddleComfort--as well as enthusiasts help their clients gain a better sense of self-worth, improved self confidence. Take the time to look in the mirror everyday to see if you like what reflects back--don't let shallowness drag you down. I'm sure the turtle I encountered is happy with what they see in the mirror everyday and isn't too worried how others judge.
