  • Bro, that's completely fine. I do ballroom dancing. Been doing it for about 8 months. I dance with all sorts of people. All's good, just as long as you keep it light and fun. Take care bro 👍👍

  • @Auroradream 😁🤣😂😳😉

If I thought someone suggested a dance to get frisky and put on some Usher, for example, it wouldn't be as well received!

@ScroogeMcduckyWOW that brings back some memories! Thank you for sharing... What an interesting video

Omgosh. This is such a fun topic.

I love dance as one of the first connections that helps us get comfy with each other in a PLATONIC way.

    OP asked

Simple straight forward question---Is a nice, respectful slow dance equivalent to a unique form of cuddling-

I can agree that it IS like face to face cuddling but STANDING UP and with room to sway and reposition without so much pillow fluffing!! 😊

I think there has been a lot said about the slow dance needing to be done with someone who is a little further along in the cuddle calendar because of the intimacy involved. In exactly the same way, I probably wouldn't lay down on a bed and have face to face with someone I just met 10 minutes ago.
I love what @starrynitecuds mentioned with the inadverdent/unitentional serious/possibly sexy vibe with slow songs (LOVED THAT MOVIE CLIP!!! hahahhahaa 💗)
Once you know someone beyond the first hello hug, you have a better understanding of their intentions, their ability to hear/respond to a request or a boundary… and there is a trust that can only come from the passage of time and the amount of connections.

What I do appreciate is the ask/answer aspect of learning each other.... and of course it is PUBLIC so there is a little more safety. We even had some Jitterbug East Coast Swing happenings at the Las Vegas meetup. SO MUCH FUN!!! Maybe with our DJ @Spud424 we will incorporate that to the fall Hershey, PA happening in October.
The thing I adore about these kinds of partner dance is there is a very clear boundary... A little bit of distance initially because of "frame" and it gives both people a chance to get close and have some touch in a fun way!

  • appreciate the responses----interesting feedback!

  • I grew up in a home were dancing was not allowed. You can never be to carefully sex can lead to dancing.

  • You can tell who was raised by the John Lithgow type dad from Footloose and who wasn’t. Maybe it’s generational but in the 70s and early 80s dancing slow, fast or the solo shitfaced till you face planted was considered a great night out and you may very well have slow danced with more than one person in the evening. Dance, like cuddling, is what you make of it. Slow dancing in and of itself is not sexual unless you make it that way.

@TheFunCartel ~ Exactly! "Dance, like cuddling, is what you make of it. Slow dancing in and of itself is not sexual unless you make it that way." It wasn't xesual when we used to do it--more stylized and creative. When the song ended, we'd giggle together, thank one another, and return to our respective seats, glowing from the joy of it!! I miss it, like I said :)

@dennis22554 ~ Thanks for bringing this up! I remember the joy and fun of slow dances, but our over-sexualized society has allowed that innocence to fall by the wayside. I'm wondering, now, if that wasn't a way to fulfill our cuddling needs without our having considered it as such? Is THAT why slow dancing and two-stepping was such a joy? Have to Pooh-ponder on that one!

  • @Allen1974 sounds like a good premise for a movie. About teenagers. Wanting to dance. In their town. At a Prom. The town council says no. Dancing, drinking, drugs, sex. Bad bad bad. Kids have Prom anyway. Just outside the town limits. It's a success. Cue big dance scene.
Not sure if it'll be a hit, but maybe, with a good speech...
"There is a time to dance and there was a time for this law but not anymore. See this is our time to dance. It is our way of celebrating life that's the way it was in the beginning. It's the way it's always been that's the way it should be"

  • I’ve had a session where we went dancing. The person I had the session with said the slow dancing was the most like cuddling, so that’s what we did.

  • I would recommend pop n lock , backspin,headspin, the worm
