My next car looking to get either honda Toyota Kia or Nissan.
Which should I go with? And what do u have?
I Don love hybrids so leaning more towards camry hybrid or honda insight 🤔
Honda
No good asking me, I'd just buy the fastest one. Although, given the shortlist, I suspect that would be a bit like choosing a cuddle professional based on the colour of their shoes.
Whatever you do do not get a Kia
I've never had any of the other 3, but Toyotas are amazingly reliable cars. I have a Corolla, and it's still going strong!
FWIW - I have had outstanding experience with 3 different Toyotas (I put over 300,000 miles in my first Prius with ZERO repairs, just routine maintenance).
No first hand experience with the other 3 but I have a couple coworkers who LOVE their Hondas and 1 who hates his Kia.
Toyota by a big margin. Never KIA
I bought a Honda last year, and everything is great so far. I’ve never owned any of the others, but I will agree with others that I would never buy a Kia. I don’t think they are at the same level as the other three.
I’m a Honda or Toyota kinda girl.
I had a Honda for years and it was very dependable and I loved it. I would have kept keeping it if the air had not gone out. And the front had an issue with safety.
I did get a Toyota, but I happen to get one that had a bad year. That one did not turn out well. On those you have to research what year you are getting.
I currently do have a Nissan because it was my mom‘s. I do not like the seating in Nissans. But I have trouble with that anyways, how the seat sits.
The biggest thing to me is a car can look great from the outside, but it really matters about the inside and how the seat is, also, because I keep a car so long, I want it to be a dependable car. Sometimes I’ve gotten my hopes set on getting a certain car, and then I drove it, and I did not want it.
Me personally, if I was going to look for another car right now, I would look probably at Honda Civics. That’s what I had before that I absolutely loved.
I do agree about the above, getting a Fast Car is fun.
I got a Toyota Prius Prime which is a plugin hybrid. Gets about 23 miles of all electric and then uses the hybrid motor. Trips around town are all electric and longer highway trips, it can use either mode, although it auto switches to hybrid around 65mph. My average mpg is at 77. It's also surprisingly peppy.
My only regret is not waiting for the RAV4 plugin hybrid which came out like a year after I bought the prius.
I’ve owned Hondas for the past 25 years - I currently have a 2013 FIT it’s running strong!
Honda or Toyota. Both super reliable.
Kia and Nissan have massive quality control issues.
I had thought Kia made some upgrades but I think they just like Hyundai terrible resale value.

@justj123 omg the Prous prime definitely duper high on my list but I want the one with the 12inch screen but they say the screen has a bad glare during the sunny days
@future1383 kias as well as Hyundai have come a long way as far as fit/finish, performance, comfort, looks etc but QC is still bad. Friend of mine had her home burn down because her Kia spontaneously caught on fire in the garage. Google it, happens more often than you'd like with those two brands. Luckily nobody was hurt and the property was rented.
Toyotas are the most reliable. My 2020 Camry has been holding up really well these past four years and I have close to 90,000 miles on it. However I think my next car will be something like a Rav 4 size because I want something better for hauling things and I like being a bit higher up
If you want a hybrid get a Toyota, they've been working on hybrids the longest.
If you don't plan on keeping the car forever, you may be okay with getting a Kia as they have longest warranty, atleast you won't have to fix powertain issues within the 10 years of the warranty period.
Nissan seems to have dropped the ball lately, so I would not recommend them unless you're getting a huge discount.
Honda has a great reputation also, but their turbo engines might need a little more maintenance than in the past. Honda tends to be a bit sportier than Toyota on average if you care about that.
Also, fast cars aren't necessarily more fun. I find that the quality of inputs (is it responsive and intuitive?) and connection to the road are what make a car fun to drive, rather than just raw acceleration. Having both these qualities is great though, but if I had to choose one, I'd choose a slow car that has great inputs and feedback over a faster, duller car.
No matter what you drive, maintenance is important for longevity.
Prius. I just bought a 2015 with 90,000 miles on it for 15k out the door. Then I moved all the cool stuff (both batteries, alarm, tires, incidentals, catalytic converter plate) from my 2012 over to it, sold the 2012 and drove off. This all happened within walking distance. I didn't even have to get an Uber. I'll probably do the same thing in another 100,000 miles or until new ones come down. They're expensive but super reliable. Those years get 50 mpg. I've never owned an Insight but I heard the catalytic converter is buried so you don't have to worry about it being stolen. I've had the same mechanic since 1986 which makes a difference to me too, he's Japanese cars only.
Nissan GTR. or a Fairlady Nismo...Z32, Z33, or Z34 though. Body of the new 400z deviate too far from the import look. Might as well get a Mustang (not the new electric ones 🤢) if you're looking at the 400.
@FriendlyFemale I could be wrong, but based on OP's post, it seems like he wants a fuel efficient daily driver rather than a sports car. I guess he wasn't too specific on his requirements though.
FWIW - When my current car (a 7 year old Elantra) eventually dies, I am going to replace it with something from the late 1990s to early 2000s, before car companies started putting telematics in vehicles. GM and many other car makers are selling your driving history to insurance companies.

Tor, that's why I drive a slow car. More than one friend has told me that I might end up killing myself if I had a car with shift capabilities. I've also been told I desperately need a sway bar on my current car cuz I don't brake for turns and like the "pull" of it. 🤣
PS...no car accidents thus far. Thank God...

Have you heard of Turo? You can rent out sports cars for a day or two (or however long).
Might be a good deal since a lot of people don’t want to drive a sports car everyday anyway
I used it tot rent out a GT350 and it was a lot of fun. The GT350 is a hoot
I have heard of that, but I'm on the fence about it. I wouldn't intentionally, but if a pretty car was damaged in any way under my care (even if not my fault), I'd feel real guilty. @sunnysideup
But if Turo has a variety of cars, @FutureHeart2023 can "test drive" some without a pushy salesman
I have the 12 inch screen and haven't had a glare problem. The stupid steering wheel emblem though... I slapped a piece of black gaffers tape over it because it always catches the sun.
They make you get pretty good insurance, so alll good there

Hondas and Toyotas have consistently tended to make the top of the charts in Consumer Reports for maintenance incidents and costs over their lifetime. And, that's why they're more expensive. You get what you pay for. My brother and his wife have a Nissan and a Kia, and they are a fine vehicle if you're on a budget, but they're not going to last you as long or you're going to pay more for maintenance. My Accord has been very reliable.
But keep in mind that a small number of data points from me and others mean almost nothing and can be outliers. Hence...
I'd highly recommend paying ten or twenty bucks or whatever it is for a month of access to Consumer Reports to get a good look at reliability of vehicles in your budget. I have heard that Kias have been trending upward lately, but haven't looked at CR in the last couple years. Do your research, there may also be other good large datasets on reliability/ownership cost that you could review.
How is anyone supposed to answer this way too open ended question without you providing some level of specificity as to what’s important to you?
Looks? Performance? Price? MPG? New or used? Reliability? Utility? Resale? Longevity? Performance? …
