Kind words of encouragement

edited July 2024 in General

Sometimes when I am on the forums, I am really (REALLY) down. I have made some posts in the past where I’m sure some members roll their eyes like “there’s Charlie at it again seeking validation”, which isn’t ever my intention but admittedly ends up feeling good to read the outpouring of support (edit: so yeah I probably am 🫥). I think so highly of everyone here on the forums and can’t think of anyone that I have a negative opinion of. Is there anyone that you butt heads with that you would like to offer some kind words to? If so, I’d love it if we could use this discussion topic to offer support to those we interact with on the forums. It can be so divisive here at times, I think it would be really nice to have a thread where we just take a little break from it all and offer some encouragement to one another. And this is for anyone, so if you want to say something nice to those you love to interact with on here, by all means feel free to do so 😌

Edit (before anyone has commented): This is not intended to be a popularity contest or a place for passive aggressive comments to sleight one another.

  • I'm a relatively new user of this forum and it brings me down also. The snipping. I think it's a mirror of the very ugly world we find ourselves living in. Our country is in a state of collapse. It's hard watch, I see the signs everywhere, daily! But I see some very fine people on here, genuinely trying to be helpful. I think that's what keeps me looking at something I normally wouldn't bother with. The addiction that I have picked up here, looking at all the cuddles I'll never have. lol. has me posting on this forum. I'm not exactly sure why. But Charlie is right to try, thanks Charlie, you are seeking validation, your subconscious admitted it in the next sentence. I see nothing wrong with that...........

    I would like to offer some kind words to someone here that I called out in the forums while wearing my mod hat, which was in response to a forum flag where it seemed they were making fun of someone. They reached out to me and were very apologetic even when that wasn’t their intention. I’m sorry for that and thank you for not being angry with me and instead being very kind about it. I’d also like to thank the member that reached out to me suggesting I should have handled that differently.

    @Jack62
    Ha I knew it would read like that, but yeah you are not wrong.

  • @CharlieBear You are the very kind person here who would think to post this.
    I appreciate you and everything I know about you! When we got to cuddle, (and also @pmvines!) I felt like I was cuddling with a celebrity! Sounds corny, but I really did!
    I would always be here for you. Just send me a message. My phone is almost always in my hand lol!

    There are many people on the forum who Ive only messaged with, But through our writing, I have come to know them, and really value who they are & considerate friends.
    There are some who I butt heads with all the time, But honestly, I would still like to meet them lol even if I’ve blocked them!
    There’s something valuable in everyone, sometimes we just have to look for it.

    I could use some encouragement for how I’m going to get through the next 30 days because movers come Thursday and I’m frozen and distracted by a coloring app. I will probably have to drink 4 Celsius drinks tomorrow and stay up all day/all night.

    Also, there are a number of you that are very kind despite my occasional mod edits changing your comments (edit: responding to flags and adding mod notes). I know being edited is never fun, but I really appreciate how you handle it and still say kind things when I am brought up.

  • Simply said Charlie--you ae a compassionate gentleman---people like you are what make CC great!

    @dennis22554 ~ Took the words right out of my mouth..er...typing fingers! @CharlieBear , I haven't yet entered into any FLAME WARS with anyone here, this time, but the times when you've had to cuff my ears, you were kind, fair, and decent. No complaints from this sector!

    I'll keep your advice in mind, though, on those occasions when CHOKING A MOFO seems like the only viable option!!! lol

  • I did not know you edit peoples words..."changing their comments" Other than vulgarities? really?

  • As I don't like echo chambers, I will always greatly appreciate a forum where ideas can be shared, promoted, discussed, and debated.

    In the end, agreement is not necessary, but each of us is better for having heard all sides. Our brains' complex network of axons and dendrites are always expanding as information triggers new synaptic input. So it's always a good thing.

    Much ugliness in this world could be avoided if people just had a place to come together to discuss. It's not a coincidence that those pockets of the world where depravity and inhumanity are the worse have no free speech; no discussion forums.

    So, thank you, @CharlieBear (and the other Mods) for leaving my posts mostly intact.

    Is there anyone that you butt heads with that you would like to offer some kind words to?

    Yes. I'm glad you're here.

    Just one representative example, @BoomerSpooner or @TheFunCartel or, whatever the hell his name is now... we disagree on 99.99743% of things, but I still think he's pretty cool. Plus he has much better quips and zingers than I do, so I'm a little jealous. I ain't going to cuddle with him, but I would shake hands, sit down, and enjoy a brew.... before returning to our respective corners.

    There's no way to word this that doesn't sound weird to me, so

    There are a lot of people here who add value to the forums in a variety of ways, but I'd like to specifically encourage four people to keep sharing their brand of wisdom/insight with us.

    @billiam
    @Will564
    @cuddlefaery
    @BashfulLoner

  • I would like to encourage all the men on the site to continue being the true Kings 🤴 that you are 👑

  • @CharlieBear You've earned a month long sabbatical. Herding cats isn't easy work. Take a break. The cuddle world will continue to spin. I'll even promise to take the same period off from posting.

  • I like this thread!

  • @CharlieBear You have my appreciation. It's not an easy job trying to keep certain negative stuff to a minimum. Some days it must feel like this.

    Sorry I have been on a plane flying back home to LA and had no internet.

    @Jack62
    Oh ha, when I say change comment, I mean having to remove part of all of one, or censor (which I put in braces),and then adding a mod note at the end. Not changing like modifying a comment with zero indication it was touched.

  • This is so wholesome. :) Love it. 💕

  • @CharlieBear I know just how hard it is, but try not to punish yourself for seeking validation. Everyone needs and deserves validation, everyone needs to feel seen and understood by their peers even if they aren't generally social individuals. We tend to mock or negatively judge people for seeking validation, especially young women on social media, but I think it's far, far more important for us to question why they are seeking and needing support in the first place. With you, you put so much into this community while still carrying your own burdens - it is absolutely understandable that you should desire some attention from the community in return. So don't beat yourself up 🤗

    @GreyingBear I appreciate the appreciation 😄 sometimes the RSD gets the better of me and I question if I'd be better off going back to masking online more - but I honestly don't know if I could at this point. I can only hope that more communication styles become normalized and embraced, because I think we all deserve to communicate as our authentic selves. Life is just so much more interesting with colorful diversity in all areas, even if that isn't easier.

  • Re: OP topic -

    I truly appreciate the diversity of opinions and experiences, the debates, the sharing of resources, the jokes, and even the arguments. I don't view disagreement and arguing as necessarily negative, they're just part of human interaction because we're not all clones, and arguments show that at least communication is happening - silencing or ignoring topics and allowing them to fester is far worse imo.

    There's so many people here I appreciate for so many different reasons - I just love variety! I love being able to disagree with someone vehemently in one thread and then us finding common ground in another. I love it when tangents spiral off into the stratosphere, but then someone else brings it back around. I love all the non-sequitors and the community's own internal memes and running gags. And I don't use the word love lightly. The community here is what keeps bringing me back to this site despite my ongoing health issues.

    I'm avoiding tagging people because I dislike how these posts can tend to become popularity contests, but I'm more than happy to chat with people in DMs about the reasons I appreciate them specifically 🤗 That and my list is just too damn long and I don't need to feed into my own trope any more here 😅

    Thank you all for the kind words. I don’t think I’m ready to be back yet and will retreat once again, but reading you all support one another sure is nice. Please don’t tag me in the forums in regards to this as I am not doing well mentally. Thank you.

    Edit: That was NOT directed at anyone that had previously tagged me here. omg sorry if it came off that way.

  • YOUR FEAR OF LOOKING STUPID IS HOLDING YOU BACK <3

  • @CharlieBear I think you are a sweetheart and you have always been very helpful to me. I really appreciate you!!! :)
