So I've been blocked now what?

I didn't think I cared, as I'm typing this a single tear rolled down my cheek. I'm floored. I can't change what happened, because I have no idea. There's a lesson here.

  • If you can't think of a reason why, and they didn't give a hint as to a reason why, try not to overthink it too much. People have their reasons.

  • It’s a a site to seek like minded individuals for platonic cuddles. If you’re becoming emotionally invested, attached and clingy then maybe not the place for you.

  • I'm just going to go ahead and assume somebody blocked you. Probably someone you either barely know or maybe have never even met. The lesson is don't become emotionally invested in people.

  • If you’re serious, try to get in touch with an “I don’t care for the good of my well being” kinda spirit.

If you’re not serious, you cared enough to write a sarcastic, ironic post about it and you could still benefit from not caring even this much.

    Just let it go.

There’s so much else that deserves your attention.

  • We must pool all of our resources together to find this blocker and question them relentlessly for their cruelty!!!!!

  • I was blocked this week too. I kinda went phew 😌 bullet dodged!

  • Being blocked can be seen as a positive:

It can be a sign that the other person is setting boundaries, which is a healthy behavior. Respecting their need for space shows maturity.

It allows you to focus on the relationships that are supportive and positive, rather than those that may be draining or negative.

It offers a chance for self-reflection and personal growth. Considering the possible reasons behind the block can lead to personal development and better communication skills.

It can contribute to your own mental well-being by reducing exposure to potential negativity or conflict.

It frees up your time and emotional energy to invest in new opportunities and connections.

    Embrace the positive. 🙂

I block people that annoy me, I don't like unwanted negative vibes. Their vibes maybe fine by them, but for me, well I don't want to think about something. Can't say it happens here, but does on other social media. I can see it happening here.

  • Ha thx @Sheena123 I always wish the best for people, so I will continue.

@CuddlyKind7 I may have been too clingy. I'm a big ol softy anyway. Inner peace, kindness, selfless, friendship behavior and all that nonsense..(you may be right, but where would I go?)

  • [Deleted User]WriterGF (deleted user)

Funny thing is, blocking stops them from messaging you, and nine times out of 10, it's someone you would never have messaged anyway.

Just remember the old quote: "I don't want everyone to like me and would think less of myself if some people did."

  • @GuitarGar seems you want more than just a cuddle bro. Try a dating site and perhaps you can find something more meaningful and deep.

When someone blocks you, move on. There are a very small handful of members who have earned that award and ended up on my blocked list. Oh well 🤷🏻‍♂️ some people just can’t let things go even when you apologize. It says a lot about them. It’s their mess, not yours and you have no obligation to navigate other peoples problems. So again, move on.

  • So I've been blocked now what?

Pop a top on a cold one, and be thankful. A greater power has your back.

  • @CuddlyKind7 Thanks for the advice bro. A dating site IMO would do the exact opposite for me.

An introspective mind seeking mutual respect requires empathy and for lack of better words, kindness. These things emerge from cultivating friend relationships, leading to trust..(Which is the goal here.)

So I've been blocked now what?

I just break out a tub of popcorn and keep it moving...Try it, popcorn does wonders!😁👍

  • I got blocked for not responded to someone go figure didn't even give m le 24hs lol

  • Some people just make me feel disgusted. It's not just non platonic vibes, it's vicious and petty attitudes.

  • Recently started a conversation and the new member asked me for a picture. I sent one and then they blocked me

  • I've been called insensitive, overly sensitive, snobbish, a mess, apologized to, redacted apology, DM'd, then blocked.
By ONE person who really freakin hates... or likes?! themselves. Or both.
But now that I type it all out this person seems incredibly inconsiderate and inconsistent.
My mother would say, consider the source.
    Big giant EWW.
I feel so much better. It's not me. Meanies be meanies.
I can't hug everyone into blissful contentment, after all! 🤗😇🤗

  • @Katota great advice, will do the popcorn for sure.

    @FutureHeart2023 it's a shock but, probably best

  • @GuitarGar some context would be helpful. Otherwise we have no idea why.

Anyway getting blocked can suck, as it may feel like a a hard rejection. Esp if they didn’t give a reason, we may be stuck scratching our heads wondering what is wrong with us.

But as others have mentioned, there is positive in it - if someone blocked you just for being you, bullet dodged. Why would you even want to give someone like that your energy.

    Best if of luck !

The lesson is either some people are petty, have no communication skills to talk things through before running away, felt threatened by you, just didn’t like you… Could be literally anything — and no use raking yourself over coals or asking strangers who weren’t there to figure it out. Examine seriously if you did something to warrant the block (hopefully you have the self awareness to do this honestly). If so, learn from it and don’t say or do that thing (s) again. If not, chalk it up to it being a them problem and carry on with your day.

  • Previous threads on this topic have revealed that you can't possibly begin to guess all the reasons people block. No, seriously, you really can't.

However, in the absense of unpleasant behaviour, the unifying theme is that it is about the blocker, not the blockee.

Re-read your last few messages to them, and think about them very hard from the other person's perspective. This may or may not help solve the mystery. Either way, move on.

  • If I took a drink for every time I got blocked, I'd be drunker than a dog.

  • @GuitarGar
I'm sorry you've been hurt by being blocked. 🫂

In the world of the internet, you can "delete" someone from your life with one click. It can be convenient, unhealthy, helpful, hurtful...so many things, depending on the context and the relationship. But it is a risk and an option that we all have in this digital world. 💻

If, as it seems in your case, the person gave you no indication as to why, I would counter most of the advice given above ("just let it go"), by inserting one step, first...

I would take it as an opportunity to reflect on your interactions, and ask yourself if there is something there that you need to work on.

You've admitted above that you may have been too clingy. That sounds like it might be a good place to start. As the saying goes, "read the room"...were this person's messages to you consistently one paragraph and yours were eight? I see you've just joined in June...were you perhaps becoming very serious or intense, after only knowing this person for a couple of weeks? Just things to contemplate.

That said, do not fester on this. Give yourself a brief amount of time to reflect on this particular interaction, see if there is, as you said in your first post, "a lesson here", and then, as everyone said above, definitely let it go and move on. ➡️

Best of luck connecting with like-minded people, in the future!

@WriterGF posted: "Funny thing is, blocking stops them from messaging you, and nine times out of 10, it's someone you would never have messaged anyway."

I've only blocked two people ever, and it was because I didn't want them to have free access to view my profile. I can't stop them from seeing my posts here, but I can prevent them from seeing the personal information I share in my profile, including my travel dates and locations. Do they care or would they try to view it? I'll never know, but I feel better exercising the modicum of control that I have. I honestly wouldn't mind if either tried to PM me, though I do imagine in plenty of cases, people are blocked for obsessive PM's, or verbally abusive PM's.

  • @GuitarGar being blocked by somebody you liked is a loss, and that loss should be mourned. The situation sucks, and it's good to feel and express sadness.

Many of life's trials can be seen as a form of loss, which makes the '5 stages of grief' potentially useful in many situations. Obviously not every stage applies to every situation or every person, even when there is actual grief. It's just a framework for thinking and talking about what's happening.

    • denial
      • anger
      • bargaining
      • depression
      • acceptance

Which stage would you say you are on now?

  • edited July 2024

    @CuddleDuncan none of those, but
It's kinda like being flipped off by someone when you're driving. And then you realize.."HEY I know that person!" You want to explain yourself, and they keep speeding off..

It doesn't matter to them to hear from you.

@Mike403 I think the phrase is drunker than a skunk 🦨
