How hard is it to keep negativity off of totally benign posts?

  • Oh, watching this thread go south is gonna be interesting. Should we start a timer?

So, is that a vote for lemons, the lawn,
    or the escalator?

    I can’t believe I misspelled “easy”.

    Oh well.

I can’t edit it without nixing the poll entirely.

  • I saw a ton of flags earlier and feel bad for whoever had to address those.

  • "Totally benign posts"?
    🤔 Hmmm. Irony.

  • Totally benign, Post, are those like sugar beignets

    Start charging $1 per flag.

  • Which post had all the flags? What excitement did I miss?

  • @CharlieBear - Here's some more flags.

  • Flagging a post is lame, unless it’s a serious violation of terms. If you don’t like it, just scroll on.

  • @SeekerInVA no it isn't. It's part of your duty as a member of the community.

You are right that if you just don't like something you should just scroll on. But my impression is that most flags are not for merely not liking something: they are an appropriate response to whatever has been posted.

  • Sorry, I identify pretty strongly with Walt Kowalski (Clint Eastwood's "get off my lawn" character).

  • @Jubal: Sorry, I identify pretty strongly with Walt Kowalski (Clint Eastwood's "get off my lawn" character).

I'm glad you clarified because otherwise I would of thought you meant the wrestler. 🙂

  • @HarleyGirlKate Oh, he was a bit before my time ... wasn't he called "Killer" Kowalski?

  • @CuddleDuncan if it’s a serious violation, sure, but some ppl will probably flag something that they don’t like. Just let it go.

@SeekerInVA If it is just A and B having a different opinion on an issue, you're right. But all too often on here, arguments get personal and insults start getting thrown, and it's usually the same people fighting with each other. The concept of "it's a big site, just avoid each other" doesn't really come into play, and that's when flags start flying.

  • @SeekerInVA
If frivolous flags were being thrown, the mods would deal accordingly with the users wasting their time.

Just like if someone reports someone for a frivolous reason, or has a history of misreporting people, they can wind up being the person in trouble or banned.

Yes, that is true, though he asked me to call him Walt or Walter, so I always did.

@HarleyGirlKate did you ever meet or know Bruiser Brody?

  • edited July 2024

No, I never met him, though I've heard stories involving him from people who used to wrestle on the same shows, etc.
