Roofies

I don’t think I’ve heard the topic of roofies come up in this forum yet, maybe it has and I’ve just missed it. What kind of precautions do you take or recommend taking to avoid the potential of being roofied when meeting someone new for a cuddle session?

I always offer my cuddle buddies something to drink when they come over. I generally give them something that’s sealed to hopefully help them feel more comfortable. I don’t even know if it crosses their mind though.

Thoughts?

  • I learned a new word today.
It would have never crossed my mind if you hadn't mentioned it.
It happened to one of my sisters, though I don't know the circumstances.
Good for all to be aware.

  • I only drink from sealed single serve bottles unless I know the person well . I usually bring my own just in case .

Since my safety net will call the police if I don't answer his call after missing a text check-in, I try not to worry about it too much. My senses are so sharp I cut myself on them, anyway—it's entirely possible that I'd taste any drug I was given... besides which, water's always been my drink of choice. Try hiding stuff in that.

That aside, I really do hope no one ever tries to roofie me. This body has weird reactions to even over-the-counter medications, and I don't understand why. A roofie might kill me, for all I know.

Most important thing is drink WATER only from your own bottle. Take precautions and hopefully no one will have this issue ever.
Roofie is not a good thing, basically it produces a temporary amnesia. Which means you will be unable to recall what happened. It's tasteless and odorless and almost impossible to detect by taste.
Hopefully no one has to deal with it.
    Safety and love for all

Honestly, if someone wants to hurt me, they'll be able to do it no matter how many precautions I take. (It is known.) I can carry my own bottle everywhere, refuse to touch anything I'm offered, dress like a good, old-fashioned leper—in the end, it comes down to the person I'm meeting. If they want to hurt me, they will. Humans are ingenious like that. So it's best they should be aware, I think, that there are people out there a simple, 'harmless' drug might badly harm, because that sort of thing creates consequences even folks with roofies in their pockets don't want.

I'm sort of contrary, I suppose: I tend to talk to the "bad" people. Maybe there aren't any around. But maybe there are, and isn't it about time they were spoken to? They're human too, after all. They also care about their own safety. They should know that drugging people may not be safe for them... and then, if they look out for their own interests, I'll have less to worry about (though of course I'll still be careful).

They don't need to be told that someone who drinks what they offer is a trusting fool, or that there's no way anyone will ever notice the drug in time to do anything about it. Talking like this only encourages them, and maybe they're not listening—but, then again, maybe they are. I know it's strange of me to see things this way, but I can't help it. I've always had trouble seeing any human being as anything but a human being, no matter what sort of things they do: people who do bad things aren't monsters, they're normal people just like anyone else. They exist in human society as a part of it.

At least, this is how it seems to me.
...Well, just put this disclaimer at the end of everything I ever say. I can't be sure I'm right, but I do know I think I am. If I thought I was wrong, would I say it?

  • If someone offers you Jello, refuse it

  • [Deleted User]ivlegend (deleted user)

Only thing I can say is" darkness is the absence of light" some people loose the inner light and forget about humanity and love, that does not make them monsters but if they do any thing wrong it's still wrong.

@ivlegend Even someone who hasn't "lost the inner light" or "forgotten about humanity and love" can still do some quite nasty things to other people. All you have to do is outgroup someone, et voila! While still retaining empathy and compassion for those in the ingroup, you can do whatever you like to those in the outgroup.

Wrong things are always wrong, no matter who does them or what their capacity for love is. But people, in general, care a lot about their own self-interest no matter what. It's a basic human characteristic.

I'm not really sure what your point is, which bothers me. Obviously bad things are bad. Did that need pointing out? But the people who do bad things can also stop doing the bad things, and the surest way of getting them to do this is to show them that doing bad things has bad consequences for them. Humans are like that, you see—no matter what's going on with their "inner light" or whatever.

I think I must have missed something. What point were you making? Could you make it again, in small words for the socially inept?

@Paulny Puzzled. It's not that I particularly like jello, but.... Why? Is it especially easy to hide things in?

Don't forget to keep your own intakes in your sight at all times too. First of all, not even accepting anything from a stranger. Not to say only strangers are capable of doing bad things, just that the more you know someone it gets easier to at least track their trails. Some times if someone offers you things they could simply be doing it out of kindness tho if they keep insisting or say you don't trust them, it could be suspicious. The dangers are many. The methods to deal should be too. People have free will to do good and enjoy. Or to do horrible things to suffer the consequences, sooner or later they will get caught up to as much as they believe they wouldn't.

To all: Live simply, live kindly, be safe. Do on to others as you would want done on to you!

  • @DarrenWalker, we are similar in seeing people who do bad things as still people. I have been in the middle of a civil suit with someone who was such a bully she was making my life at the time a living hell. I was miserable and constantly stressed out and worried about what she would do next. I discovered she had been involved in a domestic abuse situation not long before then, so I started to feel terrible for her, being flooded with immense understanding as to why she acted the way she did. I still didn't want her to win, because bullies should never win, but I empathized and understood her pain. Every person has a story and a reason for why they are who they are, even the people who do bad things. I do hope that my acceptance and understanding doesn't get me into trouble one day, but in the meantime, I know that I have given a lot of people some happiness and hope.

  • I’ve always brought a drink for myself if I go to their house, usually a Powerade, I’m kind of addicted to those. That said, I haven’t really been offered much in the way of drinks; the only time I was given an unsealed one was when a client ordered take out. xD It was sprite and they mixed the syrup wrong so it had absolutely no sweetness to it. Bleh.

  • Great topic! My senses are very keen but I never thought of this. I host 95% of the time so it may not be that important but I certainly will be more aware of accepting drinks in the future.

  • Well even hosting, what if you set your drink on a table and walk away to the bathroom.

  • Very true!!!

  • This is why I get these or small cans of soda . If I’m at bars I don’t go to restroom till I finish a drink and I don’t take drinks from people I don’t trust . These are things that many women do to be safer .

  • I hate bottled water, ha. I use hydroflasks, and honestly, I would probably just bring it with me to whatever room I'm in, so it's always with me.

  • I had a session with a pro today from a different site. This is the first time that I have seen this pro. The session was great but one thing that happened that I found interesting is that part way through the session, she asked me if I had any ibuprofen. I said yes I do and asked how many she wanted. She told me so I went to my medicine cabinet and brought them over with a glass of water. She didn’t hesitate and took the pills and water. I thought wow how easily she could have been drugged. Of course there is a record of a session being had so any one drugging a pro would be very foolish. Still though, females out there, please be careful with things like this.

  • Closed bottled drinks or make sure to see when they open and serve the bottle. I also avoid any substances, even weed.

  • Rohypnol and all other date rape drugs work on guys too. You should be careful regardless of gender, size, age etc. They can come in any form. Bring your own stuff. The good thing is, humans are decent true-finding machines; if someone is sketchy you can usually figure it out after spending some time with them.

    EVERYONE, ALWAYS be safe,
    TT :relieved:

  • Roofies are no joke. Once a long time ago i was at a place with a friend and she was at the bar drinking. Before i know it she is practically unresponsive and down some sort of rabbit hole that i had never seen her in and a guy had her by the arm trying to lead, or in her case, practically drag her out. After cracking a couple of teeth loose from his mouth i threw her over my shoulder and got her home. Next morning she had no clue what happened , it was like she had just blacked out. So always have a check in person when meeting someone for the first time. Even if not the first time, unless you completely trust them, have a check in person. Not sure if it was roofies or something else but either way, it happened to her and i hate to think what would have happened had she been on her own.

  • I’m not sure if anyone’s interested, but they do make a nail polishes that changes colors when you dip your finger into a drugged drink. I’ve thought about buying some for personal protection.

  • [Deleted User]sanj (deleted user)

@AndiCuddles There are many drugs and compounds which can be used as a potential "Roofie" which can give a false-negative with the nail polish test. Similarly there are substances which can give a false-positive. So what I'm trying to say here is that don't rely on such nail polish tests. Best way to stay safe is carry your own drinks and be aware of your surroundings. Happy cuddling!

  • Thats amazing @AndiCuddles I had no idea that was a thing...I'll definately have to order some...Thanks =)

  • When I drilled my well ,at my country property , it took a couple tries , to get health dept approval . There is something in the aquifer , that requires h20 treatment , to make the water potable . The area Wal mart , sells tablets, you can drop down in your well ,periodically, for just that . Local residents drink the water straight from the tap , because their bodies built a resistance to the microbes in the water .
For that reason , bottled water , at my country property , is available for visitors.

However , my city house has city water, it’s never occurred or has been necessary , to , have bottles water . The ice , in the ice maker , is made from the tap water . I also have flavored sweeteners in bottles to add if you want . I have put out snacks, and things , for guests .

I guess my point is , if I host and a Cuddler comes over as a guest , if I see you using nail polish tests , or putting a slice of cheese and crackers in a plastic baggie( too be tested later at a lab for a date drug)
, or something , or acting too cautious , I would think that they are giving off a bad vibe , and would rather not have you as a guest . Do you really want to insult your host ? If the Cuddler , has fears of a tainted beverage ,or any safety concern, I think they should spend more time getting to know any potential Cuddle person . People , I think , want to be trusted . Before “testing the water “ , before you pick up your beverage and carry it to the bathroom with you , ask yourself how you like it if your guest did not trust you ?

I’m for safety , but please be discreet about it.

@cuddlerforu24 I think the polish test and the mention of not leaving your beverage was being referenced more so as a precaution for public social situations like a bar, however awareness does not stop at the door. I can see where someone may be a little cautious if they are only meeting for the first time. And remember. some of the paid cuddlers though they may do a safety screen it is still not always the same amount of time spent getting to know someone prior to first meet up. Just the nature of the business.

Also don't forget that the burden of safety is way much more on the women than for men, violence, rape, and assault happens much more frequently. There is a quote from someone that reads men are afraid a woman will say something to embarrass them. Women are afraid a man will kill them.

  • @AndiCuddles I am very interested about the color changing nail polish. Please let me know where I can get that nail polish!! Thanks.

@cuddlerforu24 If I understand you correctly, you don't have a problem with safety precautions. You just don't want the mistrust to be shouted from the rooftops. I feel similarly. Overt reminders that you are not yet trusted aren't especially conducive to setting up a good cuddle vibe.

I once met a cuddle pro in another state, with whom I corresponded for for well over a month before meeting. We exchanged reams of data, including pics, real names and social media profiles. We talked at length about the ideal cuddle session, including what sort of snacks and beverages she would like to have on hand. I stocked the hotel room with a variety of the food and drinks she said she wanted, but she declined to taste any of it. It would have been better for her to say "thanks, but no thanks" before I spent the time, money and effort on her shopping list.

Although I feel a bit less hospitable for it, I now no longer mention food or drink to cuddlers who don't know me well. While I usually have refreshments for my long-time regulars, I find it's better with new folks to just skip that step and eliminate another area of possible concern they may have.

  • Pm vines I agree the men are stronger and perhaps this discussion is or should be meant in public bar meet ups , except I can’t help thinking that a reader here , applies the above at a public first time meet at a coffee shop , both cuddlers order a beverage , uh oh , someone has to go , and they take their drink with them .
When they come back from the bathroom , they found them selves
    Alone .
Pm vines I ask you , should the above happen , you meet some at Starbucks , your potential Cuddler gets up from the table to go the the powder room and they take their drink with them , would you understand ? Would you feel that you are not to be trusted ? Would you not feel that if they had some fear of a drug being slipped in their drink , that they should not order a beverage at all .

If somebody is that easily triggered and cautious I don't take it personally or hold it against them because I don't know a person's experiences that have shaped them . I also don't believe someome is likely to take their Starbucks to the restroom with them . It is a bit of an extreme example that isn't likely to happen any time soon .
