I'm getting 2-3 interviews per week now. The struggle is passing any of those interviews. I'm too socially awkward.
Just finally clicked on this thread; so sorry you're in this position, @Mike403 (and the four or so others who also shared).
It looks like a lot of great advice has been given by those with much more experience than me... I tend to stay at jobs for a good several years (though not 26! 🫨), so I haven't gone through that many.
I find interviews very anxiety-inducing. If there's someone you can verbally practice your potential answers with, that can be very helpful. It gets you used to speaking the answers fluidly, and solidifies the verbiage in your head.
I know that eye contact is big in a lot of professional settings... Obviously you can keep your diagnosis to yourself, but if you're comfortable sharing it with interviewers (preferably before you meet in person), perhaps they would accept a lack of eye contact a lot better.
Hugs going out to you! 🤗

And it may not get better.
Futures markets taking a dive here in the US and Japan.
And, surprise! Once again, so-called "experts" surprised by lower than expected job creation. File that under "duh." Jobs weren't being created, only partially recovered from gov't mandated Covid lockdowns.
I touched base with a guy at work yesterday just to find see how things are, and we are still slow, covid was the big boom for us, cause people were doing renovations. So our cutting tool were in in demand.
It really is 😔 there's actually a news report I read that said about 40% of American companies are posting ghost jobs online, basically jobs that they're not actually hiring for, but they're doing it just to collect resumes. It's a sad reality.

@TxTom Actually, there were jobs being created, but they were infrastructure jobs -- road construction crews, that sort of thing. A lot of states launched infrastructure projects this year.
@RaveHeart It's also done as a way to deceive the market into thinking you are expanding or fool existing employees into thinking help is coming when it's not.
@WriterGF Yes you are correct. I was in Boston last week and the Architect and Design Firms I work with are all busy with Commonwealth of Massachusetts projects because they are also remodeling and updating government buildings, facilities and universities. But even the private sector in Massachusetts is busy with that sort of work—I met two designers at Harvard on Wednesday that are making plans for projects on their campus that will take place over the next couple of years.
@TxTom yeah, our economy is doing great so never mind the stock market or the world going to war or the price of living increasing or anything bad or negative because we’re doing great! Keep your head buried in the sand like the rest of us!
Things about to get muuuuch worse
When I said "job creation" I was referring to economic wealth building private sector jobs, not government busy work that reshuffles tax dollars drained from citizens. I should have been more specific since we apparently have a lot of Keynesians reading the forums.
@WriterGF Yeah, and it's really scummy 😔
@TxTom That was my point. The high job creation numbers reflected short-term jobs, not full-time, permanent work. Same way the unemployment numbers reflect the number of people getting benefits and not those whose benefits have run out and are still jobless.
As far as the Job Reports. They are as fraudulent as any other govt stats. For example : if you just took on two part time jobs 20 hours a week each, that will be reported as two jobs created even tho it's practically only one whole source of income. They also count other garbage that they shouldn't.
My company has been on a hiring freeze for allmost 3 years and when we need help we pay OT or bring temps.
Well, AI is imploding and thousands are being laid off as a result of AI being overhyped and overvalued. It will take a year or two for some of this to work through. In this respect it is similar to the housing and dot com bubbles. But with Microsoft and Google pulling back on AI this will affect several sectors—auto, healthcare—as well as AI. Interest rates are coming down so that is a positive sign, but this will all take time.
Funny how all the people who give the advice of stay the course in stocks are signaling end times now. Truth of the matter is this is just the price of recovery from the global pandemic shut downs. Lead times for supplies and goods are still not what they were pre-pandemic but when the second largest container manufacturer in the world goes under everyone has to play catch up. Combine that with inflation and high interest rates and you are going to have some tough times.
No one said that the jobs created were great and permanent—it was assumed by some on here to make political hay over it. We were merely pointing out where those jobs are and what is powering them for the short term. During the pandemic lock downs hotels and casinos shut down floors and remodeled them which kept our company going so it is not unusual for construction to sustain itself on a smaller scale when things go south.
The takeaway is financial turbulence is never one thing—it is several things with ripple effects to other areas.
@Sooson I’m gonna agree to disagree. There’s no way your company could be on a hiring freeze because we have global warming. What is a job?
Good day to be invested in money market funds vs tech stocks. Or just hide and cuddle!
Follow the tangible money and cash assets. Warren Buffet is going to invest in AI stock with his 296 B in stock he sold last week. Just one of many. Hilarious how no one is talking about the biggest transfer of wealth since 2020. Here we go again, on AI own. Going down a road that we have never known.
My Coinbase account lost 10K this week. It's OK I allways considered it one giant pile of loterry tickets.
@lonelytauros It was the hole on the ozone layer, then Global Warming. Now it's climate change. Gotta keep rebranding to keep selling
@Sooson how dare you correct me I’m offended. I demand reparations.
@Sooson Fortunately, another form of legalized theft, unrealized capital gains tax, hasn't been implemented yet.
Otherwise, you would have paid thousands of dollars of taxes on your crypto---before losing it.

Hey @Mike403 I'm sorry about your frustration....sounds crappy 😕
I know tons about neurodivergence, but not when it comes to job hunting LoL But here's a group on FB that could be helpful ☺️ There's probably more groups like this too...so you can poke around and see what you find!

@lonelytauros - regarding your 9:33 am post…
My 401K is now unburdened by what has been.
I never invested in crypto. For the past year I have been focused on investing in self sufficiency in anticipation of serious supply chain disruptions this fall.
Edited for a typo (left off “supply” in the last sentence).
@JohnR1972 I'm not following AI very closely, but regarding comments earlier in the thread about AI "imploding", I remember you commented in the forums a while back about the 1st wave of AI, followed by a 2nd wave a few years later.
I couldn't find that comment of yours, but wondered if you think that is happening with AI?
Perhaps you could repost the link to your AI comments in this thread.
@JohnR1972 Those who understand the difference between proof of work and proof of stake also understand the difference between Bitcoin and (most of) the rest of the coins. I agree with Gregg Foss's argument that owning no bitcoin at all is riskier than owning some. Even as little as 2%-5% of your portfolio. As an insurance policy against the guaranteed debasement of FIAT, if not for any other reason. If it goes to zero you didn't lose much. Asymmetric risk/reward to the upside. Silver and Gold are also good choices but you can buy fake gold and fake silver. There is no fake bitcoin.
@TxTom
If something like that will ever pass, I'm sure there will be a cap so to make it insignificant for the wealthy and for the large institutions. and of course, it will have to be passed at 2am on a Sunday by both "sides" so neither of them will have to take the heat. Similar to how they passed TBTF following the 2008 crisis.
@JohnR1972 there are people reading our posts right now just like this lol 😂
...insignificant for the wealthy...
Well, insignificant for the connected wealthy. Winners and losers are decided on for every socioeconomic class.
