Why do you cuddle?

Is it just me or does it seem like life is better with more hugs and cuddles? Why is that? Is it the sense of touch, or is it more?

  • I feel like I am great bestie material, but I lack whatever quality it is that makes me bf material (probably just an extreme lack of confidence). I’m such an anxious person and depression likes to jump me as frequently as it can so it’s probably for the best. I had been very touch-averse most of my adult life as a result, so the thought of cuddling with someone wasn’t even on my radar. After being introduced to it, I realized how amazing it was to hold someone and to be held. It definitely makes me regret my lack of any sort of intimate relationship for as long as it has been for me, which unfortunately has introduced another layer to my depression, but when I meet someone that wants to cuddle me as much as I want to cuddle them, it’s like I’m in heaven. I have been fortunate enough to have made friends with some amazing pros and enthusiasts, so while infrequent (due to distance), I do get get cuddles in and all my worries temporarily take a back seat and I can just enjoy the moment while I can.

  • I cuddle for the human connection. I've always been shy when it's come to trying to date women, but with CC it's made it so much easier to get that human/physical connection that I've been missing.

It helps me with meeting emotional needs without having to invest in relationships.

Once I've cuddled with someone, they kinda become more of a friend than a client. Therefore I do it for more allies when the zombie apocalypse happens, I stand a chance. Strength in numbers.

  • I'm on a hiatus from the usual casual and/or exclusive dating scene (including alphabet salad terms like FWB, NSA, etc.), but I still enjoy occasional affection and connection, like hand-holding and snuggling at a movie. The guys I platonically cuddle with are friends, they respect boundaries.

  • Hugs and cuddles are generally my favorite thing in the world to be doing and feeling. I like that this platform facilitates connecting with people for that sort of activity without making it about a dating app type of thing.

I just like to cuddle and hug

  • A lot of my personal answer to the question is very similar to what @CharlieBear said. In addition, when I got a massage one time, they had on one of the posters inside the building that massages help ease stress. They may have even included depression with that. And so for me, whether it's a massage, hug, or cuddle, the effect is huge. Touch eases stress, and makes life's worries lesser, even if it's just temporary. Particularly with a hug or cuddle, I think there is developed a feeling of not being alone, or as alone. Life is definitely better with those.

  • I cuddle because I enjoy it. Simple as that. 🙂

I struggle with ptsd and depression and truthfully it helps me immensely.. I’m a pro my cuddle partners are normally the most enjoyable people to spend time with. The last 2 weeks I’ve been on limited cuddles due to my schedule and I won’t lie, I’m struggling lol

Oxytocin is a feel good chemical you get from hugs

I cuddle because doing so pulls me back down into my body, out of my head. A firm-yet-gentle squeeze grounds me, helps me find my center. I work, build, journal, counsel, dance, sing, paint, and sew because I find those things fun and interesting.... But NOTHING is nearly as effective as being tightly and gently squeezed to bring me back down out of my head...

    Grateful for this site!! :)

  • I absolutely love cuddling..and the idea of being able to reset the mind thru cuddles sounds heavenly.

I need need instant gratification like everyone else. I need that hit. Dopamine. I like video games, doom scrolling, casino. Even my job feeds me dopamine. I resell: every item is a gamble. When I hit ? It feels good. What gives me the biggest high? A woman laying next to me. 💉

  • A friend helped me with a night of cuddling when I hit rock bottom. It pulled me back from the brink and set me on the road to recovery. She doesn't need a great deal of support from me, so I want to find people I can pay it forward to. I want to help people heal, and in doing so heal myself.

  • I enjoy dating . But I won’t ask the guys I date to cuddle with me lol .. so here I am

Lack of trust in women, after a bad ex.
But I still love cuddling and I feel I need it. Plus it's also helping build the trust back up, so really it's a win all around

  • @chrissy123xo - Dating? Is that where you throw dates at guys?

  • @Mike403 Ah yes, that old dating show, How I Medjool Mother.

I haven’t had a client yet. But I cuddle to help those where therapy doesn’t finish the job. This is about comfort and protection. If I do get paid for it- every cent goes to my kids. They need their daddy, and you all need your comfort.

  • How else am I gonna get someone out of my league into my bed lol

  • Human affection important for mental health

Because it helps with SO many things! 😁😁☺️

  • I’ve come to realize that cuddling will help me with grounding. In regards to stress or anxiety at times. Which is most preferred over the grazing of snacks that I have done in the past.

  • For some reason, it just fixes everything. i especially can tell having to endure waiting so long being without it. For me it’s just spiritual n makes all questions n confusions fade away, brings clarity to answers, clears my head, relaxes everything, heals everybody, makes me feel Truth of Life instead of chaos, cures fear, arrhythmias, insomnia, stress hormones, muscles n nerves acting screwy from prolonged stress n deprivation of…well…this thing. This thing that just fixes everything. Starting to get emotional thinking about this…good things come to those who wait. N when it’s go time then I’ll move to it. Yea it def draws me close to said person n also closer to God too. I think it’s an expression of innocent sort of Oneness psychologically that is expressed physically. Kinda like how music brings harmony n togetherness; another thing I can’t live without n draws me closer to others. I can’t explain it. At this point it gets delightfully surpassing of knowledge n comprehension. It’s just the way’ve been wired. So be it. It’s just a deep need.

  • I hadn't read every comment in this thread, but i had a thought the other day. It's kind of a mental health thought I've had.

I was thinking about the oxygen mask.... i can see the oxygen mask, i know how to reach the oxygen mask, i even know how to use the oxygen mask but can't get a grip on the mask because im holding on th everything else trying to keep things from falling apart.

So i think i cuddle because it gives me something/someone to hold on to that's not falling apart, someone to hold on to that's present with me even for a little bit.

If that's off subject or been mentioned my bad, it just spoke to a thought that came to mind when i was trying to figure things out.
