What do you do to pick yourself up I need that right now
I always look on the bright side of life...
...and schedule a cuddle, too!
πππ
Well, I just listen to an UPBEAT INSPIRATIONAL SONG ABOUT LIFE...ππ
Just ignore the tiger getting ran over part
Why that tiger is the middle of the road, knowing the TTG is driving on that road is beyond me...π€·ββοΈπ?
Hope things get better!ππ
@Honey_Bee786 There is a long list of pick me up activities such as listening to soothing music, taking a walk, calling a friend, meditating etc. Sometimes it is a struggle to get up and do those things but if you do it will help.

Firstly and most importantly, get your biochemistry right. There is a very strong chance it is contributing to the misery. What does your body need right now, or might need, or have you not had recently? Water, food, tea, chocolate, medicine, a change of clothes, a good wash, a few moments outside, a wee snooze? If needs be, break each thing down into stages and just do one at a time. Any progress, any at all, is a success. Just give your body what it needs.
I really mean it about the water. Drink some right now. Single most important thing you can do in a very wide range of circumstances. Give your body what it needs. Can't do any harm.
Have a think about what is causing the pain, but don't agonise over it. Can you fix or improve it right now? Spoiler alert: probably not. But it's worth knowing what it is if it can be figured out. If it can be figured out, it can usually be fixed eventually but neither of these are tasks for today. Again, one step at a time. All progress is good.
Improve your position. What could you do to make things feel a tiny little bit better? Music, Shakespeare, comedy cat videos, play a game, have a good cry, clean the bathroom, sit in a darkened room and think constructively about your troubles? You're not trying to fix anything, just make the moment a fraction more bearable.
Human contact usually helps. Even just exchanging the time of day with a shop assistant can be surprisingly helpful. Sometimes there are helplines you can ring, just for somebody to talk to.
Throughout, remember that this is temporary. You will not feel like this forever. Mostly likely not more than a few days, and perhaps only a few hours. The world doesn't stop just because you are low, something will happen soon enough. So, all you really have to do is wait.
Spoiler alert no.2: Giving Up doesn't help. It only makes things worse in the long run, and typically the long run starts happening a lot sooner than you were hoping for.
I work as a private tutor. I wrote this about myself, but reading back over it, it's basically the routine I run my students through if I have a lesson with them after they have had a bad day at school. Start with some peace and calm, make them drink and eat, encourage them to have a little moan and talk through what's been happening, then make light of something connected to it in a constructive way so they can finish on a laugh. Mood can change completely in 15 minutes, and then we have an excellent and hardworking lesson. By far the most important bit is the water. Nearly everybody in western society is mildly dehydrated nearly all of the time. A drink frequently works like magic.
You're posting on a public forum asking for help. That tells me that, in the end, you'll be ok because you are already on the right track.
Everything @CuddleDuncan has stated above is amazing advice for when a person feels down. Everyone has something different which helps them feel a bit brighter. Music, food, company, writing, art, and more have been used in therapeutic practices far longer than many of us could guess. I'd also like to suggest taking a stroll, even if for a brief 15-30 minutes is incredibly beneficial. Vitamin D and B12 levels, depression, anxiety, and so much more can lead to these feelings. If this is new to you without a known cause, it may be time for a checkup.
Whatever you may be struggling with to leave you feeling down, I truly hope you take this advice, and the kindness expressed in this forum, as a stepping stone to feel better.
Haha yes sometimes when Iβm miserable itβs often diet or water related or simply just being too isolated and I need to hang out with friends, as @CuddleDuncan mentioned. Pollution is also associated with depression
But if itβs something deeper. May need to do some self reflection on how to deal with whatβs causing the drop in mood. Easier said than done for sure
Sometimes a little hard work out gets me feeling less in a slump. Phone call with. Friend also helps.
I go out for a while. Walk around, see other people, Feel the energy of others - maybe sit in a coffee shop. Just seeing something new and different, can get me energized and bring new interests. I See life going on around me and realize that there is a lot to do, to think about, to participate in - all I have to do is choose it.
Oh wait I almost forgot. Funny and very refreshing when you're down. Very apropos.
Well, this is shit Thomas Benjamin Wild Esq.
I love the @CuddleDuncan answer. And I hope you feel much better soon.
@Honey_Bee786 hope you a better space and been able to take something from all the previous responses. Was taking notes too, thanks everyone for the suggestions.
Sleep usually helps me a lot. Usually the first thing that goes out the window though. So i do what i can to tire my brain, walking, watching black and white movies, crime movies etc.
The best advice i have ever gotten from group therapy was drink a glass of water and then take a walk outside. it improves your mental mood, even if you don't wanna hell charge your water with a positivity playlist and chug that ish!
