Thanks for the heads up, Mike. My Chase branch disabled check deposits at the ATM since Aug. 29th. The tellers say they don't know why, and there's no notice on the machine when you select CHECK for the type of deposit. Must not be an easy fix for that machine's software.

I’m trying to say that a statement is political.
And
I’m trying to say that a statement is almost certainly false, because it is an absolute statement.

If someone said, “Republicans always lie.”
That’s a political statement and almost certainly false, because it’s an absolute statement.
I hope you can see why cuddle comfort should allow someone to point out the obvious problems with such a statement, without deeming the response as political.

PS I feel I am at a disadvantage here being moderated by someone who has me blocked. Can you clarify whether I’m even allowed to tag you here or argue my case to you?
I mean if you could get away with it. Would you do it?
An anonymous poll is probably needed in order to get honest answers. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Here’s an anonymous Pole:
If I could get away with it maybe. Having an electronic account tied to my personal info means you will be caught.

That's my humorous contribution to this commentary, and YES I do agree with @Mike403 😄👍
We can answer honestly, it's not like JPMORGAN is here.
Okay @TheFunCartel ....that was pretty funny.
Perhaps, but you've shifted from corporate check fraud to people blatantly stealing other people's money
I am agreeing with the need for holding corporations committing fraud and other crimes (including criminal negligence) accountable. Bankman-Fried is just the most recent, most recognizable face of fraud. If I had said, “Salvatore Verini should be serving life without parole” most people would say “Who?”

I have no problem with you, or anyone, appealing my decisions with another moderator. I fully acknowledge that there are angles to this that another moderator may be able to see better than I can.
If another moderator wishes to reverse or change my action here, I'll welcome that with no questions asked.
@Mike403 Interesting post -it definitely speaks to some serious problems with the future of our country with people this DUMB to be easily led into obvious traceable crimes.
@Estevez -It takes courage to ask the question so I appreciate it.
This is simply one man's opinion and not a judgement on any one for whatever decision they would make regarding - Stealing from the "BIg Banks"
Stealing anything for any reason will always lead down the wrong path. The goal-I would assume of stealing is to acquire more wealth- It never works-in fact it works in reverse.
Karma, energy-what goes around comes around-whatever mantra you like -does apply.
Stealing clearly comes from a lack mindset- You will never have enough- you will inevitably be stolen from in one way or another.
If I find $20,000 in a bag on the street- That is my money and I will thankfully keep it and enjoy it.
If I find $20,000 in a wallet with a license in it-I am contacting the person and giving it back-no questions asked and I will feel great about it.
In either case-I am never committing crimes in front of ATM machine camera using my own information.
I just want to know why these ATMs had that much cash in them in the first place. My ex partner used to work for GUARDA removing money from ATMs and refilling them and he said he’s never seen an ATM with anything close to the amounts people were supposably withdrawing.
My friend who works as the Vice President, Bank Manager at BMO Harris said those accounts should’ve been flagged immediately.
Typically accounts have a limit on how much they can withdraw at one time, plus a daily limit of what they can withdraw as a whole including with check deposits. And when a large sum is taken more often than not the accounts get locked until fraud can be cleared.
On top of that… How was somone able to not only figure this out, but then have time to record and edit a TikTok and post it, it stay up long enough to get views and then hundreds of people attempt to try it enough to verify and tell THEIR friends about it and then bank not catch on? Especially if there were really lines around buildings?
With all that being said… Something seems really off to me.
Either the story is being over sensationalized. -OR- There’s something more going on here.
But that’s just my opinion. 🤷🏽♀️
@VaniRae31 Well said. I do think the story took on a life of its own and has been sensationalized.
I'm all for stealing bread or breaking the law to put food in your babies belly, however this seems to go beyond survival and is just stealing for the sake of because you can . I don't respect that. No honor in it.
@BrianOcean If you find $20,000 in a bag on the street, it probably belongs to the kind of folks who will break your legs to get it back
@WriterGF - We've all seen the movie [there are many of them] where someone comes across a large sum of money and then is chased by gangsters.
I'm still waiting to find my bag of money on the street and I'm still taking the money and taking my chances.
@VaniRae31 All your points are valid suspicions. Definitely something off about this story.

I looked it up and ATMs at a big banks such as Chase can hold as much as $200k.
@Mike403 yes, they can and do carry larger amounts now. I know Chase ATMs often have $100s as an option, used to be only $20s. Even smaller institutions will put in $50k so they don't have to refill and balance it each day (time and security risk) or to get through weekends. When the ATM is directly attached to their building, higher amounts aren't uncommon. Drive thru or kiosk ATMs are usually refilled and balanced by an external company, like Brinks, for security purposes.
“No One in This World Has Ever Lost Money by Underestimating the Intelligence of the Great Masses of the Plain People.” - H. L. Mencken (Newspaper column published in “The Evening Sun”. On September 18, 1926)
If it’s not yours, don’t take it.
Doesn’t matter if it’s an individual or a corporation. It’s still stealing.
Even in the moment, what’s the point of taking something you will not get to keep, be prosecuted for stealing - beyond the obvious that it’s not yours to take. Is there any story about what the consequences have been to the people who took the money?
Of course, when you buy something using your debit card, the $$$ subtracts from your balance instantly. Proof, the money is gone, and you have your purchase.. But then if you return it, the bank holds onto your refund often for 7-10 days to use as an interest-free loan. This happened recently to me with a large AA airlines refund. Which I needed to use and wasn’t able to. I got a notice from AA that the money had been refunded to me, but it took Chase nearly 2 weeks to refund the money to my account. I was.😡😡🤬🤬 If someone has a good reason for this, please explain. I get that the transactions between the business and the bank can take a day or two but not 2 weeks.

True.
However, unfortunately, we're seeing more and more instances these days where crime does, in fact, pay.
