Some truly adorable pets in this thread.
I have a wonderful cat, but the pet whose passing affected me the most was my dear Charlotte when I was maybe 10 years old. She lived with me for almost four years, which in spider terms made her an elder indeed!
I tried to give her a "boyfriend" a couple of times but she kept eating them so I gave up. I would at the time have loved it if she had had babies, though in hindsight that might have gone sideways pretty fast ...
How I loved her and at the time her passing broke my heart. I was inconsolable.💔
My grandmother had the idea of preserving her, which is what we did, about 50 years ago, though I've had to change her vial a number of times.
Dang, I teared up typing this and taking the picture. 🕷

I grew up watching the animated 1973 version, as a kid in the early 90's. 🐷🐏🐀🪿 Later in life, I heard Debbie Reynolds' singing voice and it made me feel so emotional. I had no idea why, because her name wasn't familiar. I looked her up and found out she was the voice of Charlotte, echoing from childhood. It made so much sense, yet I was amazed that her voice had such an impact on me.

I'm very surprised that your Charlotte was preserved in free-flowing fluid. Initially, I thought it was hardened resin. Very impressive she has lasted so long, despite vial changes. I'm sure you take great care to handle her gently. So bittersweet. 🫂🕷🖤
