Covid Flu Cold Season is upon us!

I got really sick this weekend with what feels like an upper respiratory infection. It came on very suddenly. I was feeling a little sick and tired earlier in the day, and as Friday progressed, I started feeling short of breath and had a hard time walking during my commute. When I got home, I started to have a high fever and a non-stop headache. I asked my boyfriend to get a COVID test, and it came out negative. I ended up canceling my visit with my son this weekend because I didn't want him to catch what I have. Today, I'm feeling a bit better, still coughing up stuff, with a slight headache, and basically sweated the shape of my body into my bed and sofa yesterday! XD I'm Going to make an appt at an urgent care to get another test done to be sure its not COVID. After donating plasma for the last few months, I assume my immune system took a hit.

Stay safe and healthy everyone!

Also I hear if you make a jar of unfiltered honey and raw garlic and take it when your sick it helps cut down the time your sick and if you take a spoonful daily when your not sick it helps keep you from getting sick.

  • Locally-sourced honey works best.
I have friends who swear by their homemade elderberry syrup/gummies.
    I also love Zycam tablets.

  • Consistent keys for a healthy life: a balanced diet, exercise, sunlight, sleep, and happiness.

We can't prevent getting sick on occasion, but a healthy lifestyle can minimize the frequency and severity.

  • Time to decrystalize my honey again.

@SheaBear36 Getting that sick, you must have looked at my profile.

  • @gem7 haha no I probably caught whatever my partner brought home. He was sick first!

  • @SheaBear36 home Covid tests are not accurate. I was sick all of January and February. Kept taking home tests that came back negative. Saw pulmonary specialist had X-rays done they couldn’t figure out what was wrong with me til my doctor ordered a Covid test and it came back positive even though the several home tests I did all said negative. Apparently the home tests only test a couple types of strains. Between November and February I hit down cuddling because either someone close to me or me myself was sick with something.

  • I just don’t get sick - only once in the past 10 years or so (a very mild case of COVID in December 2021).

  • I was sick all August. Thought I was going to die. Doc said it was sinus related . I don’t think so.

  • @sage91436 I've been feeling better today ( more like I'm not drenching my clothes in sweat) but I'm still planning on following up at a doc office or urgent care to make sure I'm not contagious with anything else before I go back to taking clients.

100% agree. A lot of people underestimate the importance of proper sleep and sunlight - they are crucial. The only thing I would add to your list is your gut health which plays a big role in your overall health (including your immune system).

Learn to enjoy a variety fermented foods (Kim-chi, sauerkraut, plain Greek yogurt, kefir and kombucha) and minimize your intake of alcohol and sugar. The expression “You are what you eat” is not completely accurate. It would be more accurate to say “You are what you absorb” and your gut microbiome dictates what nutrients and vitamins get extracted from what you eat and what just passes right through you.

Optimize your gut health for more energy, less illness, and a LOT fewer intestinal problems.

  • @SheaBear36 im so glad to hear you are feeling better.
