Bedtime Stories

Do you all remember being read bedtime stories as a kid; or maybe you didn't have that, but you saw it in movies and television. I remember as a kid maybe in first grade, my mom gave my older sister the duty of tutoring me in reading. My sister would have me read to her at night and she'd always fall asleep. It took me a while to realize that I was basically reading my older sister bedtime stories.

Then a few years ago, I had a best friend living with me, and we were supposed to be reading a book together, but she said she couldn't focus long enough to get through the chapters, so she asked me to read them to her at night after work. Of course she fell asleep also.

Interestingly enough, both my sister and my friend began to request I read them these stories.

Funny that you mentioned this! I actually have this One Minute Bedtime Story book and have read it to some of my cuddlers, both in person and on the phone. It’s so old I don’t even remember where or when I got it.

If anyone ever wants me to read them one I’d be happy to…

  • Here are the choices

  • Iì write children short stories that I have shared with cc friends by request...there s something refreshing about agena free silly stories mi

  • Not for me for bedtime but could see that being fun for many.

When going to sleep, like the more a quiet chatter or silent cuddle type. A story awakens my mind, not soothes it to sleep.

But being read a story while relaxing together so that we can discuss it? Yes I’d enjoy that very much. I’d also enjoy being the reader with a head nestled in my lap.

  • I loved reading as a kid, I have a twin sister and when I was 12 she always begged me to read to her before bed, the only book I read to her was "Adventures of Huckleberry Finn", I had read that right after reading "The Adventure of Tom Sawyer" both books were excellent. I read more non fiction now but occasionally I still reread fiction that I really enjoy, right now I'm rereading "The Boy and the Samurai" by Erik Christian Haugaard. Though I would love to be read something as I fall asleep cuddling, that would be perfect.

  • I usually read to myself. Here's one of the books I had as a kid... (on a similar thread)

    Very sweet memories. 😊

Being read to is the absolute best... 📚

My mom read to my brother and I growing up, both fiction and history, and it was one of my favorite things in the world. 🥹 Her voice has since changed dramatically, following a stroke, and I wish I had a recording of her reading voice, from childhood. 🥺

One of my few fond memories with my dad when I was very little was when he would read nature stories and animal facts to my brother and I, before bed. 🦫

I've had boyfriends past and present who read me to sleep, and it works like a charm, whether it's a children's bedtime story, a philosophy book, fiction, self-help, or anything else. 🫠

There's just something very tender and loving, when another person takes time to read to you.
