Needing a pick me up

edited November 2024 in General

I just want to cry. I've had an extremely hard week. It feels like one thing after another. It culminated with an extremely difficult night tonight. I lost something that I really need and it's going to be a hassle to replace. I've been searching for hours and now I'm sad and exhausted. This has also caused a pretty big inconvenience for someone else which causes me to have guilt.

Can y'all send some positive vibes my way? Share some good news. What's something good that happened to you today? I really need a pick me up.

  • Hope things get better for you.
Wishing you the very best ;)

  • Thank you. I just ate some late night pizza so that helped a bit

  • Wasn’t today but Friday. A coworker that I respect greatly and look up to pulled me aside and said that I was someone he looked up to. The feedback I got was that I always balanced insight and a drive for excellence and learning with patience for my teams; that I actively built them up and encouraged them, rather than being cold and demanding.

It took me by surprise and humbled me. Made me realize that he was the true leader though, because I could not recall the last time I shared something so personal and uplifting with someone.

Made me both encouraged and to want to be a better person at the same time.

@caramelnotes I hope someone steps in and acknowledges you in a positive way.

  • That was super sweet @lovingspoonfull Thank you for sharing and thank you for the kind words.

I'm going to go to bed and try to start over tomorrow

  • i've been there and it sucks, just know you will not feel like this eventually, it may take long or it could be quick! either way its just a temporary set back. we are not here for long in the big picture always remember that! find/think of something that brings you joy in this temporary and tough set back! hope your next week is better than this last one.

@CaramelNotes I'm sending you lots of positive energy and hope.

I just came back from visiting with a friend . Don't think I've seen it about 15 years. It was great to see her. Plus, I also made some new friends tonight. I had a wonderful day and it's 180° flip from not leaving the house on the weekends due to anxiety/depression. So a very positive experience.

  • Whenever I need a pick me up I post on r/momforaminute or r/dadforaminute on Reddit. It’s such a wholesome way and helps nurture my inner child when I’m not feeling so hot

  • @CaramelNotes I'm not always good with these kinds of things but sometimes laughter is the best medicine. So here are some funny gifs I found:

  • And one more thing that always makes me laugh:

  • How r u doing today @CaremelNotes? May i send you virtual hugs?

Haha @GuvyerGordon, I've rewatched the first gif too many times. Reminds me too much of myself and a friend.

  • Good morning all!

Yes @4cuddles - thank you for my virtual hug! I'm feeling a lot better so far. I slept in and that definitely helped.

@GuyverGordon - thanks for the laughs. They gave me a good giggle. The screaming mouse took the cake lol Is that real?!?

@brownglucose I love that name lol such a wholesome idea for a pick me up! Thank you! I will try it.

@Bear that makes me SO HAPPY for you!!!

@bostonpublic thank you! Here's to a better week!

  • @CaramelNotes
Here is a virtual hug if you wish

Wrapping my arms around you and giving a big soft squishy hug.

  • 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗

  • @CaramelNotes I honestly don't know where the screaming mouse came from. All I know is I can't even think about that video without laughing a good few minutes. 😆 I'm laughing just typing about it.

  • @CaramelNotes :) amazing what rest can do.

  • Late night pizza does help sometimes, lol. So glad so much support was offered to Caramel. I think she is a sweetie.
Caramel, I'm glad you feel better after sleeping. I've been thru a similar thing lately and like bostonpublic I made it thru partly by knowing it wouldn't last. I also needed some anxiety meds in my case. Go to the doc if it doesn't get better.
Sometimes watching videos of babies and kittens being given a bath cheers me up.

  • Thank you everyone!
