Some of the "competitors" (cuddleup and others) of this site have recently shut down. I wonder how much demand will decrease if unemployment continues to rise.
Unemployment seems like more time and desire to cuddle to me!
@cuddlezbro the site pays for its expenses with the paid/pro cuddling. If that declines too much it may not be able to sustain itself
I think unemployment should start dropping early next year.

While i understand the concern, i personally hate the economic side of this experiment. That's all me, not blaming anyone for anything but I'd hope that the unemployment part leads to more people being available to cuddle for cuddles sake.
I also suspect that the alternative competition are going out of business for other reasons other than users not seeking cuddles. When i visited some of these it was clear to me that those involved were clearly there for less desirable reasons. Customers and providers, the intent of what they do was obviously not the same as it is here, for most. At least the environment here is more appealing to me but i never stuck around long enough to really know, but the vibe was just different.
I hate to be sold or marketed to so if that begins to be the overriding theme that would turn me away from CC. So as long as that's not happen ring i think it will be fine. Or people will just get better at doing that without me knowing and thats at least growth.
I allways wondered why this site does not try to get some advertising revenue.
@JSP_1 I share @justwanthugs optimism about job growth next quarter. That is not political, it is based upon the jump in the stock market this week. Investors pouring money into the market reflect wide spread optimism about the economy in the near future.
Unemployment could also drive more people to try being pros, in an effort to make extra money. While theoretically being out of work would mean more time to cuddle, I speak from experience that all your time gets eaten up job searching.
It survived covid so the site should be fine

@JohnR1972 is right and beat me to the response. I think there will be increases in local investment and an additional drop in interest rates will also spur economic growth through increased spending and investment.
The stock market has indeed gone up and I agree on the interest rate cuts. However, economists are saying the stock market increases may taper off depending on what direction inflation goes, etc. We'll see. I certainly hope the market stays strong and job growth increases. I do expect some movement just because the election is over - election years tend to be slow job markets.
Very, very soon the energy sector will be unleashed. More energy means things are cheaper to produce and transport. The number of businesses that open and/or expand will also increase, and thus unemployment will drop.
The stagnant lake of printed money that's caused inflation will gradually be soaked up by actual commerce.
Thus the rising cost of goods and services should level off and then start dropping.
Breaking news: Resessions are not a bad thing. Recessions are part of the cycle and are unavoidable. Even during the hardest recessions, the vast majority of people don't lose their jobs and in addition to that, get to benefit from lower rates and price drops on discretionary items.
I wish healthy, and happy people were the priority. Not billionaires making more money, as a sign of a country’s success.
So glad the Dow Jones went up - while children continues to get murdered at school and women die of sepsis from being unable to access health care. I personally choose people over profit.
This site was running before they had paid Cuddlers. I don’t see it stopping now.
Everyone will make more money---up and down the entire socio-economic spectrum---it's not just about billionaires.
A functioning economy led with common sense policies is critical for a happy and healthy people. The two are not mutually exclusive.
It will… survive. People who usually cuddle, are the cuddlers who run their own business. Most I guess don’t eagerly wait for the month’s end to get paid. So, I am confident it will survive the challenging times.
Except for the many people who aren’t able to work because of disability, age, etc. To the young, healthy & employed, that’s a concern that never enters the mind. Just praying that SS & Medicare aren’t cut. COL continues to rise and some are left with no options. And then an unexpected crisis can change everything, be prepared. Cuddling is nice but doesn’t fix all problems.
Hi NikkiFM, you have to live in Canada to get the best of free health care. That’s the thing our country has taken off our minds. Knowing that will be taken care off if we fall sick is a major relief. And it’s still a beautiful peaceful place to live.
As broke as you might think you are. Open an account with an online broker (even if it has to be robing hood) , buy any S&P 500 fund and keep adding to it monthly. And during recessions, add even more.
Bitcoin (aka real money) is still cheap.

Unemployment is only 4.1% and there hasn’t been a recession since 2020, but there will unfortunately be one in about 2-3 years time from now. But this is here in the US, not sure how it is in other countries.
There's plenty of jobs out there. There's several places in my town that shut down just because they don't have workers for some reason. People didn't go back to work after Covid. And it's not like they don't want to pay people because my job went up four dollars since 2019.
Yes the site will survive any normal recession, it's been going long enough.
If times got really hard, the owners may consider alternative business models. They have always been clear that they regard this as a community as much as a business
Note that althought the vast majority of the income and activity are in the US, this is a British site which operates globally. The US matters enormously, but it's not the only thing and a purely US domestic view - a depressingly common occurrance on these forums - is certain to be wrong.

@g_w_t_w Why in the world would SS and Medicare be cut when you will likely have a growing economy, which results in increased tax revenue? I haven’t heard anything about that at all, and doubt it would even be considered.
