I am sad today

I don't know why, but I'm sad today.

Anyone else have the blues but you just can't shake it?

  • I'm sorry to hear that @CaramelNotes. I tend to get those in waves ...

  • For sure. Me and the blues are old friends. I hope you feel better soon.

  • I see the sadness in their eyes
    melancholy in their cries
    devoid of all the passion
the human spirit can not die

  • I too have had a day full of feelings i do not want. I am getting through it. But tomorrow.

The low light of winter combined with the potential loneliness of the holiday season takes its toll. Solstice is almost here. Just hang on. We'll get through

  • @ReltvlyCanshes "everyday the sun won't shine but that's why I love tomorrow."

    • Gloria Hallelujah
  • That's really helpful @Will17

Thank you for the solidarity everyone

  • @CaramelNotes i wanted to quote that but couldn't think of it

@CaramelNotes and @ReltvlyCanshes I’m sorry to hear that. I do not have them today, but it happens from time to time during winter. Sending warm and caring hugs your way and to anyone else that needs them. Hope tomorrow feels much better. 🫂 🫂

I hope you are feeling better. Proper sleep and hydration can do wonders. Also taking time for yourself. Sending you virtual cuddles 🥰

  • I sunbathe alot this time of the year. Something about the sun warming you inside out definitely helps

  • Not every moment is same. There are ups and downs in life. But if it is too many days of sadness or more than normal, seek professional medical help.

  • Having a sad day it technically a privilege, so enjoy it. (Yes I know it doesn't feel like that at the time!) Make the most of it. Wallow in misery, just for one day.

For a happy and successful day of misery you have to get the basics right. Anything in your life that's urgent and important, get that done. You may be able to skip dressing and washing, and eating if you want, but you can't skip drinking. Get plenty of fluid down your neck. If you feel like sleeping, then sleep.

And then sit and think about all the sad things. This is the message that your unconscious is sending to you: those sad things need some attention, some care, some time. They need to be the most important thing for a while so they can go through their process and pass into history. So let them. Encourage them, in fact. Just for one day.

If you do this right you will feel a lot better tomorrow. In fact you'll probably feel a lot better in a few hours.

  • Years ago, my daughter made me a calendar with quotes she selected. This one still resonates:
Without sadness, I wouldn't know or appreciate happiness.
I hope tomorrow is a better day for you.

  • One way to cure the blues is exercise or physical activity like walking, hiking-being out in nature-bring your ear pods and listen to your favorite album...it helps

  • I appreciate all the transparency this post brings ❤️I’m considering a vacation due the winter blues 😌

  • I understand when I was kid this use to be my favorite time of the year. But as an adult it can take a toll on you especially if you don't have anyone to celebrate it with.

  • Seems that so many of my friends and the people around me in general are struggling through the holidays. I had a dip too, but am on the way back up. I wish we could all do one big holiday cuddle! But alas, let's melt into each other's virtual arms.

  • I’m struggling this week as I lost my baby sister Dec 23rd last year. Today was especially hard. I guess bc the day is getting closer. 😥

  • @txhoneybee
I'm so sorry. That must be so hard. 🫂

  • @billiam thank you. Yes it is. But I am grateful she’s not suffering anymore.

  • Sorry for everyone dealing with depression, I do also.

    • 1 cup of espresso in the morning, it’s been helping my mood a lot. good quality that I brew myself. But then I avoid caffeine after 12 because of sleep problems.
    • Being outside & walking - fresh air, scenery & sounds, also vitamin d. Visuals to stimulate thinking.
    • Upbeat happy music
    • Reading the memes and dad jokes here.
  • Wrapping my arms around and giving a warm squishy marshmallow hug to those who need one.
Could also be the lack of sunlight SAD. My dad dealt with that. Luckily I work outside occasionally.
Shortest night of the year is one day away. Then each day will get longer.
