Genuine people

One of the most plesant experiences I have had on CC is having a plesant conversation with a truly genuine person....especially when it's unexpected! What's the most plesant experience you have had on the site? How you you define a truly genuine person

  • I've had quite a few pleasant experiences here, but I would say the one that really stands out is recently getting a pedicure with a buddy . It was so nice and something I hadn't done in a very long time .

I’m grateful for the people are are here for the connection. I understand it’s business to a lot of folks, so when I find someone who values the lunch, or the drink, or who asks about my day and my family, I just love the little boost of humanity that brings to my life.

  • Sure, some folks are neat

A very long time ago I used to think that the only genuine people were the ones who disliked you and told you why directly to your face…

While those people exist, thankfully I’ve found that there is far more than them to be found. There are some very kind and genuine people in the world, including many here.

  • I don’t think in terms of genuine people. People have their ups and downs. I think more in terms of genuine moments or genuine experiences with people. I don’t attach myself to people. I’m in the moment and then I let them go. My wife is really the only person that I am attached to that I would call a genuine person who I have a genuine relationship with.

  • I couldn't even begin to narrow down the most pleasant experience I've had on the site, or with people I've met through it.

How would I define a truly genuine person?

    Someone who doesn't lie.

Someone who's not ashamed to be vulnerable...to talk about mental health, being on medication, grief, miscarriage, or other experiences we so often avoid discussing.

Someone who treats a trash man or a waitress the same as they treat their friend, their mother-in-law, or a celebrity.

Someone who doesn't share what you've told them in confidence, who doesn't gossip, who doesn't stab you in the back to get ahead.

Someone who admits when they're wrong...be it something silly, like, "Oh you're right, that quote wasn't from that movie I said", to something serious, like, "I was wrong, I shouldn't have accused you of that."

Someone who doesn't feign knowledge on topics they are ignorant in; who doesn't feign interest in topics they are uninterested in; who doesn't feign belief in something they don't follow.

    Excellent topic.

I've met some amazing people on here and I can honestly say I've had good conversations with them all. I was told by a couple recent ones that are new to the site that I truly have a gift and they were so pleased that their 1st experience was with me. I'm very considerate/ concerned about others and their needs. I had a truly genuine newbie recently that absolutely treated me like a queen. Even though he hired me, he made sure the session was all about me. Very sincere, respectful, caring, and funny. We just spent the whole session talking, laughing, and learning about one another.

I’m simply not smart enough to be anything other than myself.

  • I really have enjoyed reading the posts and appreciate the sharing

  • Being genuine is about being your true self always, no matter what. Don't pretend to be different for anyone or anything. (This advice should often be disregarded when applying for a job)

  • I look forward to the next genuine conversation with a salt of the earth individual.

  • Iron..you may be surprised that I passionately agree...except for the job part

  • @dennis22554 I'm not surprised. But sadly, compromise is often needed in order to earn money.

  • Maybe you are in the wrong job.......but I understand

  • I've been pretty lucky in that regard. But look at anyone who works retail, food service, or other customer-oriented areas.

  • In some of those roles.i have. Had the most fun just being myself..it knocked down many doors

Being genuine and being authentic means not forcing positivity into every situation. Sometimes the shitty is just as important as the awesome.

  • I’ll offer a slightly different take but is still (I think) in agreement. The world is full of shitty situations. I share mine with those of my friends who want to share my burdens. I try not to foist it off on others.

I don’t pretend to be positive when I’m not. But when I am I do try to share that because there’s a scarcity of it in the world. That I share with everyone, most importantly friends (they deserve it for bearing my burdens with me).

  • I@loving...I largely agree..im not naive...I fully am aware their are both shitty and great things that occur everyday. I deal with the shifty internally and purposely chose to focus on the positive publically..if my post upsets someone....they can chose to ignore it...make derogatory comments..etc...but I always be myself

  • @dennis22554
Where are you getting it that your post is offending someone ? I haven't seen that here

  • If I was offended..I'd have no issue addressing the offender

  • Right I get that. You said that if your post offends someone they can choose to ignore it. Where are you seeing that someone is being offended by your post here ?

  • Im in stafford va drinking a beer listening listening to a great band...ignoring the shiity fact it's cold and raining tonight...it feels so much better concentrating on the positve..I encourage trying it

  • I wouldn't say that cold and raining in January counts as shitty. At worst it's a little unpleasant, but only if you have to go out in it.

  • To me, that weather is “the positive “.
So we’re all different once again.
I love cold and rain actually. Probably comes from living in Texas. I much prefer it over the 115 degrees that we get in August. I’m already worried about how I’ll deal with it next summer because it makes me literally sick.
Wish sooo much I could get out of this state but I’m stuck here.

  • Just used it to illustrate a point. But when I hAZave to go out to my car..it will b
    e shitty

  • I also think driving on A hot day without ac is shitty

  • I also think driving on A hot day without ac is shitty

I think driving a convertible in Alaska in the winter without heat is shitty. It’s like an outdoor Eskimo kiss and the snot froze my nose to the sky…without my consent.

  • That summarizes everything said tonight quite well..you just failed to mention it would be stupid
