terrible; glad you are ok
Are you sure you didn't have a brain seizure?..almost exactly the same symptoms. I've had two so am familiar with the symptoms
@dennis22554
I don’t experience brain seizures.
I was definitely drugged without my knowledge and consent.
I'd say you are not only fortunate it didn't happen when driving, but also fortunate they did not follow you to your car and rob you after you blacked out.
@WriterGF I was already far away. I was at a different location when I blacked out in my car.
@pokergirl89
Regarding why I didn't call the police right away, first of all, it took at least 12 hours for it to occur to me that I was most likely drugged. At first, I was like, "what the heck is going on?" I was too focused on surviving and fighting the nausea to even think about calling the police.
As for why I didn't go to the hospital, those were highly unpleasant symptoms, but not life-threatening. I don't go to the hospital for just an upset stomach and headache. I typically only go to the hospital for an emergency. That was bad, but not enough that I considered it an emergency.
To be clear, I actually was going to go to a second karaoke bar, after the first one shut down song entries, to sing more songs, because I thought I was still ok. I didn't know I was drugged. I didn't have unusual symptoms yet. It all happened so suddenly. But then I blacked out in my parked car at the second location.
I was there alone, not with friends. I know, not a smart thing to do. Every once in awhile, I like to try out new karaoke bars.
After I woke up, I judged myself well enough to drive home, slowly and cautiously. Yes, I was badly nauseous, but at that point, my faculties were intact enough to drive. Although I felt awful, I judged that I wasn't going to black out a second time, because I didn't feel drowsy.
It took me nearly 24 hours to fully recover from the headache and nausea.
The reason I decided not to call the police is because I have absolutely no idea who the culprit was. It could have been literally anyone that was there at the time. There's nothing the police can do. Beyond that, I'm concerned that the police may suspect that I'm guilty of wrongdoing, or taking illegal drugs, and that they may question me.
By the time I considered getting my blood tested just to know what drug was used, it was already too late. It was already out of my system.
So I don't have any solid proof that I was drugged, given that I did not have my blood tested. I just know that nothing else could reasonably have caused these symptoms other than being drugged.
I still could call the police and file a police report. But all I can tell them is that I believe this incident happened at this location during this time period. I can't identify any potential suspect. And I don't have proof that the drug was in my system as I did not have my blood tested. So I'm not sure there's any point in it.
I was just reading about a super scary situation that happened in an Uber ride - a driver tried to knock a rider unconscious with some kind of chemical. She saw something being released into the air, and then the driver covered his mouth with a rag, and looked directly at her in the rear view mirror, and thankfully she immediately held her breath. Later she took the tiniest of breaths, and immediately felt drowsy and a tingling in her arms, and realized what was happening. Thankfully the door was unlocked and she was able to escape. Always be careful out there!
This is all very frightening and @SunriseSnuggles thank goodness you’re ok.
@cde123 so the Uber driver did that but forgot to lock the door lol. Lucky break for that passenger!
@SunriseSnuggles please report your incident/experience to police and to the management at the karaoke bar you went to… Cameras 🧐
@SunriseSnuggles You are safe, that’s great. You should still report this to the police so they could investigate . So this or something much worse doesn’t happen to you or anyone else again.. you may have been targeted because you were out by yourself. Also, see a Dr , explain what happened and that the black out experience has happened to you before as you mentioned. The black outs could be happening due to an underlying medical condition. Better to be safe than sorry….
Don’t drink and Drive
I understand not going to the police. They most likely will not even attempt to look into it, and will probably show you little to no respect. But the suggestion to talk to management at the bar is a good idea. Unless it's a really shady place, they're not going to want that kind of thing going on at their bar. I'd say that's your best bet to maybe find who did it, or at least help prevent it from happening again to somebody else there. Make the staff aware of it, so they will be on the lookout.
@Will17 agreed
I heard a story about a guy who was charged and convicted of assault against a woman in a bar after she reported it, even though she and he were both drunk. The prosecutors went through security camera footage to identify him. Don't assume they won't help. That only helps predators. I'm sure there are ADA's who would love tracking down date rapists - that sounds like a really meaningful and enjoyable thing they'd want to do.
@g_w_t_w Yes, that was her "thank God" moment when the door opened, and also that she was looking up, rather than into her phone. She stumbled over to the nearest woman (this was in the middle of the day) and found she couldn't even speak properly. I'm just glad that experience wasn't any worse. She said the Uber matched up with the license plate in the app, so I bet she reported that. I hope someone gets put away.
Get on social media for the bar and ask around. There may have been others who were also drugged, which is why a police report and urgent care/er report are so important. For liability reasons, the establishment most likely won't let you, a private citizen, look at their cameras, either. (Subpoena will most likely be needed, but there are many other steps you need to take leading up to that one, talking to a lawyer first is your best bet.)
I already reported the incident to the establishment.
Welcome to being a suspect. Which establishment—the bar or LE?
@TheFunCartel
The bar.
I saw "never leave a drink unattended" many times here. That is great advice but it could be even deeper. I am not saying this happened to you but ladies, especially, need to be very careful in places like Vegas, Miami, LA, and other cities where the nightclub action is strong. In some establishments, where a group of men often prey on women, the drug is already there when the drink was poured. When the bartender is part of the evilness, he/she will be given a signal by his accomplices for who is being targeted. In those cases, they may have 2 bottles of the same, one being spiked already, and he goes there when needed. If not, he will administer the drug while making it. The key is to watch every second that the drink is being prepared. When the alcohol is already set with 2 bottles, for common drinks, and you can't readily see 2 bottles on the shelf, or if he conceals part of the production process, well, having friends with you is the best safeguard. This only works with women who go alone or decide to stay after their friends leave. I hate to say it but this is more common than someone spiking your drink after it is made. Evil exists in groups.
i saw this the other day, but i didn't find time to write about a sort of experience i had a few years ago. The person in question was actually someone i was hanging out with daily in game. i let him come to visit me one weekend, and he left like middle of the night on like the 2nd day. that should have been my red flag to not continue to take a trip to new york comic con with him, but i did anyways. this is that story. I don't have proof, but i believe that he put something in my food or drink because day 3 there; i was sick and in the bathroom ALL DAY. i was like well... i feel bad you're missing out on doing anything here. i go through this every now and then, so you can leave me. i'll be ok. he didn't. he was on me like white on rice. other things i later on thought about once i was home and contemplating that awful day spent in a hotel bathroom. 1. on the way back, he joked that it's too bad i didnt' have my passport.. because we could get back to detroit thru niagra. but something inside made me feel glad i didn't bring it. for a moment, i felt a "should i bring this?" when getting ready for the trip. i didn't. i was so glad i didn't. somehow inside; i felt like if that happened; i wouldn't have made it home. but also 2. so on the whole way through pennsylvania; he kept acting weird everytime we were saw police. now. i know how a lot of people feel about police these days? but like he's a 5-+ white dude from Canada???? like.. why would you be so jumpy about police??? 3. both the first 2 nights kept asking don't you want some weed or alcohol? and i was like i don't need it. maybe he had thought us going to con was gonna be drinking and smoking the whole time? I'm not sure why that'd be an assumption, but like... the way he kept bringing it up. like yo... if i want it; i'll go get it. if i don't say i want it; then i'm good. i'm a pretty self sufficient person. if i need something; i'll go get it. if i am not doing that; i'm good. Like i'm in nyc for the first time in my life; maybe i wanna experience it sober. maybe i wanna remember what it's like here without a haze of drunk or baked. but like i said.. this is likely my own fault because the time he came to visit and left in middle fo the night. when i asked why he did that. he said well because in his experience; these kinds of arguments lead to the police need to be called. i mean.. BRO.. IF I HAVE TO CALL THE POLICE.... like.. then i don't need to be anywhere around you. i guess it wasn't clicking at the time. on the way back, he had joked about we could always go to E3. and after that trip; i wasn't going anywhere with him. i stopped talking to him all together tbh.
Talk to the police asap. Even if there's not enough for a report, they will know if there have been similar incidents at that bar or in the area. Think of it as possibly saving a life.
@SunriseSnuggles that’s horrible!! I’m so sorry you experienced that! But I’m happy you’re ok and nothing happened to you. I would second all of those comments to report it to the police, who knows if they already have other reports like that. Also, it wouldn’t hurt to talk to your doctor about that situation, just to make sure. Sending you caring hugs your way.
That happened to me decades ago. It was a dinner date. We ate and I passed out. Woke up with her hands on my pockets. It was weird. When I left a guy was outside sitting in the rain, which I assumed he was in on it. I felt bad for her and did everything in my power to leave him be.
I learned at 21 about the wicked ways of individuals plotting and scheming.
Trigger warning ⚠️
I’m sorry to hear! Hugs 🫂 Yes, I’ve had it happen twice to me and it’s very scary and it’s something you definitely realize after it’s too late. It has a very omfg I’m not ok wtf and who tf did this to me and then a deep panic sets in about someone watching you to finish what they started. 1st time I was taking advantage of by 2 guys back to back in a car and I watched it happen (lost my virginity here) but couldn’t move and was left to die in the cold rain naked. Longer story but that’s the gist of it.
The 2nd time I did the same as you, I had 1 drink and was blacking out and loopy so I tried to pull myself together to walk fast to my car that was blocks away and I couldn’t see or think straight just knew I was drugged and in a panic state at that point to get away. Made it to my car and drove while puke poured down my face because I couldn’t feel it so it poured out instead of projecting out. No muscle control… yikes! That was sooooo scary. Made it home some how and felt like I was dying for 3 days after puking up yellow toxic waste stuff.
@Jillybear87
I'm sorry that happened to you too. Sending you hugs back! 💜
So I wonder if I was drugged with a different knockout agent, or maybe my body reacts to it differently. In my case, I did not know I was drugged at the time. I did not know anything was wrong. I was, perhaps, a little bit loopy, but I thought it was just the alcohol. Overall, I thought I felt fine, until the moment I blacked out. I had no idea it was going to happen, until it happened and I woke up 3 hours later.
I also did not puke, although I was badly nauseated. I came close to it around 8:00 a.m. the following morning, but it ended up not happening.
The fact that I didn't puke makes me wonder, is it still in my system? Am I permanently damaged by it?
So the takeaway from this is I can no longer leave my drink unattended. In my arrogance, I thought it was safe for me to do. To be fair, it took 10 years for this to happen.
The 1st time I had no idea. I blacked out instantly and hard. I have small moments I woke to see what was happening to me and then out again completely til morning. 2nd time my body remembered the feeling I suppose. I don’t think it’s still in your system because you didn’t puke. Our body’s eliminate as need be just not as rapid as puking. There’s different drugs that can be used but do similar stuff. So who knows! I just recognize that loopy feeling over anything now.
I'm so sorry that happened to you, it happened to me in my 20s and I didn't understand what was going on at the time. Thankful that no one was more hurt this time. I frequent night clubs and I have seen men get dosed, whether the goal is to rob them or something else is unclear but I say to everyone; never leave your drink unattended.
I also want to add, even after you've reported assault or rape to the police, don't be shy about pushing the system to make next steps happen. They might not happen on their own.
You don't need to pay for your own lawyer. For crimes, it's the government lawyers who do the work, for free, since you're the victim. Things they worry about, though, are building a case and then having it dismissed for lack of evidence or simply because you won't testify. If you call them up, over at your local district attorney's office or prosecutor's office, and you tell them you're the victim and you're looking for justice, they may go the extra mile.
Last time I was in court, just for a speeding ticket thankfully, the judge and prosecutor and even my lawyer were all impressive women I'm sure would have loved to put a predator away. Go for it, I say!
(lost my virginity here)
First, let me express my sincere sympathy for what happened to you. It enrages me that people can treat each other like that.
I once read the following: "Virginity can never be taken, only given", which I think is a positive way to look at things. According to that philosophy, your virginity was only lost when you willingly gave it away.
Having said that, I would never presume to tell someone how they should feel about their own assault, so if that doesn't resonate with you then there is no need to take anything from that quote.
People who do these evil things are the true homeless as they try to break into the innocents and live rent free.
