Is this a dating site (wink, wink)?

  • @Cara There actually is a professional/certified type of career path for those who want to make the world a better place through cuddling although it is a bit pricey. This path is as a facilitator, someone who is helping groups to discover the value of cuddling.

@docgatorb I'd love to know more about it. Is there a website I could refer to for more info?

I tend to view this site in a way that it is what you make of it. I've made friends here, both professional and non that are all very nice. I understand their reasons for being professional just as much as I get why others don't want to charge/pay. As far as being a dating site, not inherently, but I look at it in the following way. If I meet someone who is nice, we enjoy our cuddle time together and realize that there's more of a connection than simply cuddling, then so be it. Not that I go looking for it, but I can envision it happening.
  • What, exactly, is a "dating site"? Would it be bad if CuddleComfort.com is, or were to become, a dating site?

To me, a dating site is one that helps people with certain types of common interests find each other. In that sense, CuddleComfort could be considered a dating site, in that it helps people with a common interest in cuddling (without expectation of anything more) to find each other.

And well known dating sites are not just about dating, romantic relationships, marriage and/or sex. Some enable people to find "new friends" or "activity partners." Those things don't sound particularly romantic or relationship-y or sexual to me. I think it would be quite logical and within their purview for dating sites to enable people to find cuddle partners.

Recently I've been thinking about the options available for people who have a strong interest in cuddling and may not want to get into a relationship (romantic, sexual, or otherwise) right now, but would be interested in some sort of relationship in the future. Are such people not welcome on this site?

As someone who would be looking for a long-term relationship (including sex, not immediately, but after knowing someone for a month or maybe several months), I would feel uncomfortable about contacting people on this site. It would be annoying for them, and it would be disappointing for me, if they are really not interested in a relationship, ever. But (judging by some comments by other members of this site), it seems that some people on this site are looking for something more than just cuddling.

I think it might be better if people could clearly indicate in their profile if they are interested in a relationship or not, if they are interested in sex or not, and if they are interested in sex, what is the minimum and maximum time they would want to wait before having sex. It would be "better" in the sense that people with compatible interests could find each other more easily, while at the same time not bother the others. It would also be better in that it could attract more people to the site. And not just those wanting "something more." As the site grows and becomes more widely known, it would also attract more people who want cuddling only. More site members means more people in your immediate area.

I think expanding the scope of this site would be a win for everyone - except maybe Mark, who would have to update the site with some additional features. :-)

  • Oh nonononononono, hell no, and please no.

Also, the Terms and Conditions state:

    Personal Boundaries

You agree to never use this Website for the intent of meeting another member for sex. You also agree to never attempt to progress a meeting, organised via this website, to a sexual nature.

Now we discussed more than once on the forum that some people are open to the possibility of continuing the cuddling relationship to a more intimate level -- and one couple even got married recently (in a violation of the Terms and Conditions, eh? ;) ),  but the fact that this website is NOT for dating, and NOT for sex, makes it the amazing place that it is. I'm open to the possibility that my next cuddle buddy will also hire me for a three-figure job, however I don't use this website to do job hunting -- I go to a different site instead. Please don't ask to change the focus of this website -- sex- and date- searching are pervasive like weed, and it's hard as it is to keep the place clean. If anything, write to the OkC developers and ask them to include "Cuddling" as one of the "Looking for" categories ;) let me know and I'll back it up!
