@CaringPaws Solid choice!!!! They are ridiculously cute!!!!
Not grumpy very often but if I am, I like to visit the "Price Mega Thread" Its all about the context. You know what I mean? 🤗
@OhioMike
SNORT!!
Lately I have had stressors that I'm trying to absorb and work through and control my overall anger about. Not gonna lie it certainly has been impacting my mood and I catch myself being a grumpy porcupine.
What's been helpful for me is focusing on the constants in my life. The things that don't change regardless of what's going on in the world. Such as my y animals love. And the plants in my yard. And the hot water in my shower. And the taste of a good meal. And the laughter shared between loved ones. And the knowledge that there is always an opportunity to make a difference in the day for somebody else just by saying something supportive or doing something kind. All I can do is hope to come out the other side a better person.
Anytime I am feeling grumpy I do double sighing breathes, two claps and alternate snapping my fingers. Keep repeating until I feel silly
Resets the system and makes it easier to laugh at whatever situation is to root of the grumpies...
Go home Beach stroll Hot bath Netflix Eat Sleep
I read the Dad Jokes thread.
Hug my kid. Hug my cats.
I walk outside. I turn my thinking around. I visualize something calming and peaceful. I give a back massage to whichever sweet puppy I’m caring for.
I do deep breathing that I was taught in cardio therapy.
I actually engage with my business clients because it puts me in the role of being of service and I forget I am grumpy.
And I watch the Chiefs who are my neighbors just 10 minutes from my doorstep.
Hang upside down, calms me immediately.
Get a massage.
First I try to get away from people so I don't lash out, then listen to music, first probably music that feels more like my grumpy mood to try to get through it, possibly singing/screaming out the frustration and negative feelings, then slowly change the songs to more lighter themes with hopeful positivity so help push myself toward that end and be in a better mood. Other things I'll do are eat something (I can be grumpy first thing in the morning at work some times, but after eating lunch feel much better. Depends on if it's a busy stressful morning or a slower morning), exercise to tire myself out if it's not morning grumpiness and just me being upset at something, play video games to escape and focus on something else, and/or watch a lot of comedy based entertainment until I'm laughing loudly for a while. By then I'll be feeling much better. Although I think a cuddle or nice long tight hug from someone who cares would also do the trick.
@pmvines I'd stream episodes of The Simpsons or The Golden Girls. Either does the trick to make me laugh
In no particular order:
Music. Gym. Play with my golden retriever. Read the positivity thread here on CC. Reach out to friends who are hilarious and make me laugh. It's hard to be grumpy AND laugh.
Mostly I go for a hike or go to the gym. Otherwise I prioritize some alone time. I don't get grumpy very often, though I did more often years ago when life was more hectic.
I generally turn to video games; either one with a good story to get lost in or one with tons of (potential) carnage; doubly so if it is in vr (Blade & Sorcery has been pretty good lately in that department).
Tik Tok and YouTube
It depends on the source of my grumpiness. Sometimes it is something simple like I am hungry, tired, overstimulated, burnt out etc. In that case I will eat, rest, remove myself from a situation, take a break etc. If however there is a third party cause of my grumpiness I will just let them feel my wrath.
Listen to fun music and smile or listen to metal and get angry :-)
@Ironman294 I have a long list of rage songs if anyone is interested
Listening to metal, even rage songs, calms me down. Part of it is the complexity of the music, part of it is the "someone gets me".
@xandriarain color me curious would love to see your top 5 listed! Mine are Master of Puppets - Metallica Enter Sandman - Metallica Smells like teen spirit - Nirvana You got another thing coming - Judas Priest Painkiller - Judas Priest These can also be good workout songs, just be mindful of the volume for your ear drums sake and your neighbors
I quit waking up grumpy when I left my ex.
He had to get himself up. 😂🤣😂🤣
Say bubbles very angrily and it's impossible to not laugh
@pmvines Also blossom and buttercup.
@pmvines Grumpy porcupines still need cuddles! 💜 Just remind your partner to wear her chain mail. Hope you feel better soon, my friend.
I just said the word grumpy and that made me laugh. So intentionally smiling a lot keeps your face from sagging as we age. All the $$$ skin care products don’t fix weak muscles in lower face, exercise it by smiling constantly and that helps the grumpy mood also!
Exercise, sing my heart out, and watch funny videos.
