Does giving a male client karma for good behavior equate to giving a dog a biscuit? 8pm

I wonder some times if the karma system needs revision especially when it comes to PROs giving it male clients. I equate as being equal to giving a dog a biscuit for good behavior. These is no other service industry that rewards their customers with essential good behavior comment cards. It also dilutes the value of karma genuinely deserved by professionals who receive it. I under stand that originally it was. intended to identify kind and respectful clients helping pros when the select new ones in a sea of prospective clients. BUT..there has to be a better system. Even if someone is identified as a bad apple and potentially banned..
they are ways around the system for them to continue to creep around. Aldo..karma seems to bit tit.for tat...I give you good karma and I expect you to do the same for me....I also expect some PROs fear retribution if they don't post good karma
I know it's not neccesarily going to fix the problem but I would suggest stop the PRO to client karma function. If my behavior stands out during a session..id be happy with an oatmeal cookie or simply a thank you! WE SHOULD COLLECTIVE WORK TOGETHER TO MAKE EVRTY MEMBER FEEL SAFE!

    I believe rideshare apps do the same thing. You also forget about female clients and enthusiasts.

    And you're suggesting taking away a pro's ability to indicate that a client is a bad person.

    There is no other industry (except one) in which a woman invites a strange man into her home or office (or his territory) and lays down in bed with him. We have to vet every single person that we book a session with because our lives depend on it. Hope that helps.

    The karma is meant to give ability to report if safe or not. Not if they are a good dog. Is it a flawed system? Sure it is. But it's what we have.

    I have always felt a little conflicted about the concept of rating organic human connection like a Yelp review, but I understand why it's there and it's purpose.

    The actual problem being brought up is retaliatory karma. Which I have no opinion on since I'm not a pro.

    @dennis22554 Thanks for posting! I always read a potential cuddler’s karma ratings: it’s the only safety check available. Messages help, but could be AI or cut & paste or previously successful script. Always worthwhile to ask if sonething could be modified to work even better. I’m also a fan of ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’, but preaching to and listening to the choir may keep us ignorant about flaws others can see.

    Untrue or retaliatory Karma is routinely removed by the mods, with appropriate consequences for the author.

    Having a paper trail to help identify who is telling the truth and who isn't is one of the reasons it's important to keep messaging on the site.

    I actually think a lot of industries wish they had this system. Joe Smith can leave his plumber a bad or good review on Angi or Yelp ... but the plumber can't post that Joe was a lousy client who was late with his payment as a way to warn other service professionals.

    I have a fired who house sits and does it through Trusted House Sitters site. Both the sitter and the host write reviews of each other, which is important and useful because it lets hosts know that a potential sitter has been reviewed and trusted and does a good job, and also lets the sitters know what they are walking into with a potential host in terms of cleanliness, pets, nanny cams in the bathroom or other weirdness etc

    giving my two cents on the premise of this post, I don't for a second believe that the OP is ignorant to the reason karma exists from the pro to the client. Karma also exists between two non pros.

    @WriterGF Sounds like theres a decent market for something like that. Might not be a bad idea to whip up an app. Imagine as a contractor/handyman/etc you had a way to filter out troublesome clients.

    Third party vacation rental platforms have 2 way reviews as well, but the property owners have developed their own codes.

    I have never left anyone anything less than a 5 star karma. I don’t rate anyone negatively. If I have an issue with someone’s service in any type of business, I speak to them directly. Bad reviews can negatively affect people’s jobs and or business and I have no desire to bring harm to people. Good people have bad days and sometimes some people just don’t know any better. If I were being completely honest with my karma, some people would receive 4s rather than 5s. I’ve only had 1 that deserved a 1 and I let her know directly how I felt. She was eventually banned. People that provide bad service or bad employees generally work themselves out of the business. Karma isn’t perfect but if you read what people write, I’m sure they aren’t going to ramble on about how amazing a person was if they were horrible.

    I imagine given who I am...i.d have certain people breathing fire out their nt friends and discuss and from reading forumsoses if I posted ...puppies are cute...and I find the melt downs somewhat entertaining humorous..especially at the speed posted...to the rest...I just reflect on what forum friends sand I discuss serving as the lightening rod for concerns they express on occasion and from forum posts I can truthfully say I was unaware karma was used to report ad behavior
    .Just wondering..isn't that somewhat dangerous given that a vengeful client knows where the pro lives....if it is the system we use fine... just saying might to consider the reconsider alternatives in the near future

    If we think about this reasonably, without all the layers of snark, I think we can agree that we're all ultimately a community of people who are looking for connection and care, and in that spirit, I don't think there's anything wrong with having a way to acknowledge a good/safe/pleasant experience, regardless of categorization.

    Edit: I'm now understanding the other part of the post about how the karma system might be used in more complicated ways, and I admit I don't have a great answer for that 🫤

    I don't feel my post is anything at all personal or has anything to with your perceived opinion of what I think of you (which isn't negative despite not agreeing with your post ). You are doing that thing though where you put your thoughts about something out there, it's not wholeheartedly agreed with, so you dismiss it as being negative or that it is a sign for how someone sees you as a person. Nobody is always going to agree with you , can't take it personally. When you post an emphatic opinion on something you can't demand immunity to criticism.

    I think reciprocal endorsements are a good idea, as well as actually about the best we can do. Sure people can misuse it, but what other way do we have for showing appreciation or issuing soft warnings? Hard warnings would be the reporting process.

    No system is perfect. Because it’s used by people. 😀

    But people can work to keep it functional and useful, which is appreciated.

    @dennis22554 If the pro does not host, then the client doesn't know where she lives. That said, I have heard people (on both sides) say they are reluctant to leave bad karma for fear of getting it back.

    Every time I visit the forum I am immediately reminded why I usually avoid it. Good grief.

    The karma system is flawed, but I can't think of anything better. When looking at a profile, you should probably think of a person with several 5 star karmas this way: "Several people have cuddled this person, the experience probably wasn't a total nightmare, and the monetary transaction (if applicable) happened as expected."

    That's about as much information as I would recommend reading into karma.

    I've only ever had one experience I felt was so bad it deserved to be called out via karma.

    I was hit with retaliatory karma, and when I complained to the mods, the karma was left in place. When I complained a second time, I was threatened with further action if I wasted the mods time again. So I shut up about it.

    (It is no longer an issue because that user has been banned, but everything about that particular karma experience from start to finish was quite negative. And I've been leaving and receiving for 8+ years .)

    C..but bringing up an issue and discussing it is a start..it would be negative experiences could be near zero and PMVines..you'd have to agree there are some that would attack me if I said puppies are cute prior to reading the complete context of the post
